The major thing that sold iphone was the love of sliding things around, and 95% redundant, useless apps. Thin, shiny, it attracts certain people. And those apps sold it. The phone itself actually isn't that great, and touch screen is no longer that new. In reality, it's for those who want to be entertained since you don't need all of that to make a phone call. And this virtual iphone is just another of a long line of useless apps designed for the "wow" factor, so people will buy one.

There's a very cool iPhone app called Satellite Augmented Reality. It has a database of over 370 geo sats and lets you view where they are in the sky. It also calculates the azimuth and elevation angles for you based on your location. In addition, it lets you enter a virtual location in order to see what the satellite view would be in, say China, if you are in the US.
