Idiotic. Genetics have never linked man to any other species. If there are so called "transitional species" why are there not literally millions of these fossils as that is what would be required to "evolve" the vast number of species today. Thinking all life came from bubbling ooze is a mental disorder.

@TheCCCP1983 Darwin never said they came from apes you ignorant ass. Listen to and watch the video. They never said it was human either. You are so stupid.
"Primate fossil 'NOT an ancestor'" (BBC, October, 21 2009)
"Dr Erik Seiffert says that Ida belonged to a group more closely linked to lemurs than to monkeys, apes or us... [Dr Seiffert continues] "They are more closely related to lemurs and lorises than they are to tarsirs or monkeys, apes and humans. This study would effectively REMOVE Ida from our ancestry."
See: "Convergent evolution of anthropoid-like adaptations in Eocene adapiform primates" (Nature)
But it now appears Ida was not related2 apes&humans at all, but2 an entirely different, much mor primitive primate family.
In a study published in th journal Nature, scientists conclude that Ida was mor closely related2lemurs than2apes&humans.
"In watching the documentary & looking through th book, th average person would come away with the impression that Ida was definitely very relevant to the ancestry of humans," "What we find is that this study would effectively remove Ida from our ancestry."
Are you kidding. Missing links and transitional beings are purely derived from Creationist jargon. Scientists use this lingo as a layperson's term in order for the simple minded to become entertained. On the other hand, did you think about your statement for more than it took you to right it. If evolution is real, then, of course, there will be transitional beings. This only seems as obvious as anything really obvious.
Richard Kay, a paleontologist at Duke University said, "There is NO phylogenetic analysis to support the claims, and the data is cherry-picked."
Callum Ross, a paleontologist at the University of Chicago said, "Their claim that this specimen should be classified as haplorhine is UNSUPPORTABLE in light of modern methods of classification."

I have a feeling that this "missing link" may turn out to be nothing. I do not disbelieve in evolution, but generally it seems like these things never turn out that well. You would also think there would be more than one missing link which has been preserved.
I agree. The guy who bought the fossil is Jorn Hurum. He is a knob, he did ANOTHER special about a month ago on the History channel also called "Predator X", supposedly of a dinosaur "with the most powerful bit ever", even greater than the T-Rex. It was basically a Pleisiosaur (pardon my spelling but im too lazy to look it up). Now he's got another hyped show on the same channel this month with Ida. I think this guy is just using hype to get viewers. Wouldnt surprise me.
After all the links are found, then what? Great, you're the descendant of a mutant monkey frog squirrel, congratulations, now whats the next step? Oh the next step is still death. The human drive to prove that he is an ape or monkey is of itself a conundrum, leading exactly to? Well, nowhere to be exact. So better to focus efforts on something more rational like getting a cure with this super science that the internet intellectuals claim solves everything, to cure Stephen Hawkins.
I'm gonna remain skeptical on this one, as they do not have all the information needed to prove this claim yet, this could take years. But they will need to prove genetically that this is an actual ancestor of humans. Even still, no matter their findings, it does not disprove the existence of an intelligent omnipresense within the universe.
I always remain skeptic, seems there is always something new that is found or pops up. I hope the documentary provides the other side as well, that argues against it. Knowing History channel though, they will walk it around like it's definitely the "missing link".
Very welcome, and I'll be checking it out also. The guy who bought the fossil, is the same guy who found the "Predator X" fossil they has a special on a few months back. Should be pretty good.

There have been many more than just one missing link.
This one is getting the hype for two reasons.
1. It's new
2. it gives paleontologists very useful information in understanding the transition to primates from other mammals
