Chesca's skin and makeup routine

You look so pretty and natural. Seeing your routine has given me the inspiration to try real adult makeup application lol . I feel like my 3O+ yrs of not doing so leaves me at a knowledge deficit on the subject. I have bad skin and bags under my eyes and I find myself using my glasses as an excuse to avoid going through the trouble of wearing shadow/liner. I think I am gonna step my beauty regiment up a notch this year. Going to the drug store this afternoon...

@DynamicallyDella awesome! i'm happy to have inspired you! if you're lost when it comes to makeup, you should visit the makeup counter at Macy's or the MAC store (they're kinda expensive, so I'd go to a department store instead) and ask for help! they are there to help! and you don't even have to buy anything. just tell them that you don't know what to wear and need help putting together an everyday makeup look.

I am so jealous of your skin! My skin has too many problems... whiteheads, sensitive to weather, bumps (well.. I guess you can call it acne but it's the occasional ones), uneven tone... :(( I'm still in search of a great regimen.

@chescalocs Lol, that's not a stupid question at all! I probably should see a dermatologist, but I feel like my skin problems are mainly because of diet. Not that I'm an unhealthy eater, but I am easily affected by even an occasional chocolate bar. I am trying to change diet habits to see if a difference is made (ex. cutting back on milk). I guess I also need to ensure that I wash my face in the night. I often forget/am too lazy by then. I miss my skin before the teenage years :(

@samchick77 ha! yes actually. i think it's because we both talk out of the side of our mouth. it's a horrible habit and i have no clue where i picked that up. i'm not really a stylist, I only know how to do hair on myself, but maybe in the future I'll explore styles for different hair textures. who knows!?

@ColourFullRainBowz makeup will not "ruin" your skin if you take care of it. also, i'm not putting anything on my face that clogs the pores, which leads to "bad skin". i wear makeup because i like how it looks. there's nothing wrong doing something to make you feel good about your appearance

@pagiebaby2315 since you're still going through puberty you might experience acne, which is just part of growing up. putting concealer on your skin will only make it worse as it will clog your pores. i would wait until you're a little older and your skin calms down (if it's breaking out). in the meantime, get into a good routine to cleanse and moisturize your skin now to help it stay clear and healthy. thanks for watching! :)

We do tan but have a natural protection/pigmentation. We can also get skin cancer and should wear some type of sun block just like everyone else..

@stella50ish yes, our skin becomes darker in the sun, but most African Americans don't "tan" in the traditional sense, meaning they don't actively go to the beach and lay in the sun for hours on end hoping for darker skin, or go to a tanning salon and lay in a UV lit bed. that's what i mean by "we don't tan". And yes, we can get skin cancer too, which is why everyone should wear sunblock

@thasigntist not completely true. black people can have acne or splotchy skin. but it's true that we tend to age better. i think that's mainly because we don't tan which does a lot of damage to your skin

@ruralglamour well, everyone's different when it comes to how they like to express their personal style, wether on their face, hair or clothes. nothing wrong with that. i've just gotten so many requests to show how i wear my makeup. so it's not really a full blown tutorial because i know this won't work for everyone. question, do you usually wear a full face of makeup out of "necessity" or does it just make you just feel more comfortable?

However I do feel more comfortable when I'm beat for the gods lol....at least foundation, powder, brows, mascara, gloss are the basics. Plus, I find it comforting playing and applying makeup. I will admit that I feel face naked without those five things.
