Radiant Dawn was my first Fire Emblem game, and I got it shortly after I got a Wii, which was only a couple years back. I know I'm behind the times. But what a game it was! Story, beautiful orchestrated soundtrack, the graphics weren't even bad, and it was sufficiently challenging to be engaging, something I find refreshing in a modern game.
This theme near brought me to tears thinking about it, I swear. I went in a very obsessive FE phase for a while. ebayed PoR and played everything else...
@Harkz0r So, while I'm rambling on - I'm sick of all these DS remakes coming out, and FE12 might not even be coming out! I mean, I'm glad there are new Tales games being released, but I would chop off my right arm to have a new main series console FE game, be it on Wii U or whatever else. It's one of the few game series I can still maintain genuine excitement for.
I'm still having nightmares of this game.....the last push (final 5 stages + the defense stage as Micaiah in Part3) are nightmarish at best. IKE saved my life so many times, though restarting the game from losing characters wasn't too bad, cause I heard the best remix of the FE theme
It is always nice to find people on youtube that enjoy Fire Emblem as much as I do... If only many others played the game. COD is fun too, but it is NOTHING compared to Fire Emblems games, especially PoR and RD, these two just kick so much ass!
I should get around to beating this. Most of my characters from Micaiah's camp are so underpowered... Meg hasn't leveled once that wasn't from Bonus EXP, and she STILL hasn't changed class. Oh, sure, you're supposed to get a good balance of levels on all your characters, but when you come to a point that no matter what you do, you can't keep your weak characters alive long enough, you tend to stop caring. At least I do. Lost Zihark, and he was one of my strongest in Micaiah's camp.
@OzaiFan Technically, seeing as at the Endgame you can only choose 11-13 characters to go with you, and there is a finite amount of Exp going around, maintaining an even spread of levels on all your teams is very inefficient. This is one game where it pays to pick a few favourites. From the Dawn Brigade, I can only really recommend Edward/Zihark, Nolan, and Sothe & Micaiah (as they're required by the story). Meg's growths are garbage.
@Harkz0r Alright. Then Meg is out. I assume I'll be needing good healers, though? So should I be making sure Laura and Rhys are at good levels? It's been a while since I last played, and when I do again, Im going to start from the beginning.
@OzaiFan When Micaiah undergoes a forced class promotion at the end of the first chapter, she gains the ability to use staves. 3rd tier mages can use staves up to A rank. By the end, Micaiah ends up being able to use SS staves, as well as Laura or Rhys. Also, Elincia can use up to S staves, and she's a good mage killer. With all that you don't really need a healer, but I sometimes do take Laura, mostly because I have to use her through all of Part 1, and she's better than Rhys.

ATM I have a Path of Radiance save I'm going through for transfers. I capped most important stats last time, but this time I want Sothe to be amazing, just because I can :p (and his stats are the only ones that transfer directly)

I looked for months for the Radiant games, couldn't find Dawn and found Path of Radience. Shadow Dragon eludes me to this day here in Australia as do nearly all others that I can't find emulators for......

this is easily my favorite version of the FE theme. the first day i got this game, i didn't even play it. instead, i just let the game run on the menu screen so i could hear this badass theme
Takes an absolutely outstanding theme from the game I grew up with and gave it orchestral and percussion elements with an all around deeper and more invigorating presentation. Bravo.
The games just kept getting better. 7 was better then 6, Sacred stones was better then 7, PoR was better then SS, this was better then PoR, and then.... Shadow Dragon came along. Then we find out the reclass system returns in FE12. R.I.P. Fire Emblem. If reclass remains in the future, may we always remember this as the last great Fire Emblem.
I wish I could join Micaiah, Elincia and Ike in all their adventures, in their universe : Tellius. No matter if I would be considered as a simple supplier, soldier or as a great fighter, I would only like to do my part in their battles and meet them in person, along with all the other Fire Emblem PoR/RD characters I admire so much.
@Jpcristel I think it wuld be AMAZINGLY FUCKING AWESOME if they made it into an MMORPG... where you could choose your alegiance, gender, abilities and class and whatnot, sorta like Star Wars Old Republic that comes out later this year. You can be a Jedi, Sith, Smuggler and yaht-yaht-yaht. If they did Fire Emblem, itd be toooo sick.
@Ilir7777 Only if whatever is "out" gets more interesting. Why do people read, write, play music, WRITE music, paint, sculpt...make video games or movies? I we have no interest in art and the stories it holds, life is pretty darn colorless; if that art doesn't inspire SOMETHING in us, it's even worse.
That said, real life is something we have to do, so focusing too much on fantasy is the worst of all. Your Mileage May Vary, eh? XD
@Jpcristel Honestly, I get where you're coming from, but remember the fate of non-player controlled NPC's. They can and will die the second they appear in a battle. Even if you're a civilian. And RD sucked, the character weren't even that good (strong point of every FE game)
@Jpcristel Haha, that's only 9 and 10. Try play 7, and save all the "soldiers" when you recapture caelin. Hope you played it, then do it on hard. If you haven't played fe7, it's basically 3 soldiers that spawn in the middle of enemies that 2 shot them...
@Jpcristel i've you've payed Shadown Dragon for the DS, they have a sequel in Japan. And you can make your won character! No North American release will be out, most likely because the 3DS FE is announced, and the Japan - North America change doesnt happen often..... sigh. I wish i didnt sell my wii for this game.
For the first Fire Emblem I've played, I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Is it just me, or is Fire Emblem like one of those very few, very rare games that you can play over and over and STILL enjoy the heck out of it?
@lordrath2000 I said that nine months ago? Seriously? And I still feel the same way! The only games I've played multiple times are Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Path of Radiance, and Zelda Ocarina of Time! Three of my favorite games. Too bad I don't have time to play games anymore...
@lordrath2000 Hm, yes. But it's only because Junior year throws more at you than softmore year and freshman combined plus the added pressure of the ACT/PSAE tests around the corner. As soon as those tests are done the remainder of the year will be a piece of cake and I'll off to my final year of highschool.
Once that's done, I'll have time to breathe again.
@AquaDragonKitten331 Agreed. Played FE6 3 times, FE7 14 times, FE8 7 times, Path of Radiance 5 times, radiant dawn 3 times, Shadow dragon 3 times, and new mystery of the emblem 2 times (only out in japan) Never got bored of it! One of my favorite series.

@Hemlocke3 Well, I did struggle to begin with since I wasn't sure what I was doing. Math has never been a strong point of mine, so trying to figure if I could get away without dying was a big issue. I also didn't take the weight of a weapon into consideration on my first playthrough and always wondered why so and so wouldn't double an enemy, or wouldn't hit him, or kept getting hit. Right from the start I saw this was an extremely hard game to play. Then I bought PoR, which is my favorite FE.

They made an anime of fire emblem(I think it was from 1980's... maybe 1990's) but they had to cut the show off, because of the money shortage... Japan's wealth have risen now, right? why can't they make a continuation of that, I'll support them by buying the DVD's It'd be great, pokemon did the animation and it went well :(
Except the Pokemon anime ended up being an abomination after the first season. Fire Emblem anime would never become as bad as the Pokemon anime since Nintendo would be smart enough to acknowledge the fact that there is more than one main character in the series and that they wouldn't rename the main character of the first game to some weird name (Ashy Ketchup anyone?)
one thing I like about Radiant Dawn is the music seems to be more orchestral but I'm not saying that Path of Radiance but song of the songs are it aren't all that great but still its a great game. heck I'm still playing it :) but some of the songs are way better in RD like "The Black Knight lives" and "Eternal Bond" :)
I was playing import Fire Emblems long before they released the series in the U.S. When I first got it, I was like, "How have we totally missed this series?" It's pretty weird that everyone knows about it now. :)
I beat it, then long awaited Shadow Dragon, sadly it was somewhat a dissapointment after playing RD, the game play was alright, but the story and music just didn't make the cut for me.
Ahh, i love Fire Emblem... I have played (with Emulators help to get them) Seisen no Keifu, awesome game, Thracia 776, Sword of Seals/Sealed Sword, Blazing Sword, Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance , Radiant Dawn which is my all time favourite, and Shadow Dragon. Yes, I am a Fire Emblem fan. I love RD an Seisen no Keifu the most~ : D
For being aweome and cool, Vanguard Ike is my favourite. For effectiveness, Assassins for there one hit abilities. Swordmasters / forests in FE Seisen no Keifu with Shooting Star (Astra) and Moonlight hit (Luna). Check my Skasaher vid, you'll see what i mean.
"I fight for my friends" Does not sound like something Ike would say, especially Ike in radiant dawn. For example in the chapter Blood pact, and a few others, Ike will fight anybody without hesitation even if they were on his team before.
well, i need permission from nintendo, of course, and write the manga, then hire people to redraw the pictures for me, then i publish it. hopefully it'll become popular then me and some others will make the anime
Huh...really? If you do, make sure to make it very accurate to the game, but the characters should have more of a relationship between each other,, and development then they do in FE Radiant Dawn.
@lordrath2000 Well, Nintendo sucks at advertising, and the economy is shitty pretty much everywhere in the world. They probably don't have the money, or enough fans to make money off of it. Plus they might not even make an anime for it even if a lot of people did like it....it really sucks but I doubt they will ever make an anime or OVA series for it...
They were awesome back in the 90s, and if you payed any attention to recent commercials, they look like they're going back to the old days of expensive but awesome commercials and advertisements. I'm guessing that their advertising ability skips a decade. And this is Nintendo we're talking about, even if the economy is in the hole all over the world, Nintendo most likely has more than enough money to make an anime or OVA. They just probably don't want to consider making them.
heh, I know, I don't really expect it to be made anyway. Right now I'm just wanting more Fire Emblem games and scanlators to finish translating all the Fire Emblem mangas. FE6 manga is translated and it seems FE4 is being worked on, but it seems they abandoned FE1.
@lordrath2000 Yeah seriously. When the fuck are they going to make the sequel to Radiant Dawn?! It had a terrible ending if you have seen the hidden ending.
Will probably take a long time, especially since it would be the first one to be a third part of a saga in the series. For now, I'm content with these remakes of games I didn't get to play. Of course I could just emulate them, but playing emulated games on PC feels unnatural and uncomfortable to me.
@lordrath2000 Yeah. Fire Emblem really needs to be more popular. I know at least in America most of the fat-asses here would rather watch football (and other sports) all day than use their own minds to play strategy games.
@lordrath2000 The Radiant Dawn commercials were terrible...making it look like a children's game. In Japan however, Nintendo's commercials are a bit better.
My theory is that when Reggie took over, NoA forgot how to make good commercials, so they asked Japan for help, but I'm guessing NoJ wanted to have a little fun so they had NoA make commercials that made them look incompetent in gamer's eyes.

u can play it again, u have the option to unlock pelleas (by having micaiah refuse to kill him) and sephiran (by deploying BK in part 1 endgame, and by having ike figh the black knight in 3-7, and both of them survive the battle)
if u want to recruit him move micaiah to the square 1 left and 12 up from the bottom right (i think that's it, it has a sniper on/near it, its been a while)
he's not really a secret char, because he can be unlocked on the 1st playthrough
oooooooo then i think i was doing it wrong. I told my little brother about that char, tried on normal and hard but never found him. Now im gonna make him try again xD

I just noticed that SSBB has 4 types of the main theme:
Fire emblem melee (half of it is this theme)
Fire emblem main theme
With Mila's divine protection (features a remix of the main theme in it)
and whenever Marth or Ike wins, a small version of the theme plays

For the first Fire Emblem I've played, I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Is it just me, or is Fire Emblem like one of those very few, very rare games that you can play over and over and STILL enjoy the heck out of it?

@lordrath2000 I said that nine months ago? Seriously? And I still feel the same way! The only games I've played multiple times are Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Path of Radiance, and Zelda Ocarina of Time! Three of my favorite games. Too bad I don't have time to play games anymore...

@lordrath2000 Hm, yes. But it's only because Junior year throws more at you than softmore year and freshman combined plus the added pressure of the ACT/PSAE tests around the corner. As soon as those tests are done the remainder of the year will be a piece of cake and I'll off to my final year of highschool.
Once that's done, I'll have time to breathe again.

@AquaDragonKitten331 Agreed. Played FE6 3 times, FE7 14 times, FE8 7 times, Path of Radiance 5 times, radiant dawn 3 times, Shadow dragon 3 times, and new mystery of the emblem 2 times (only out in japan) Never got bored of it! One of my favorite series.

I personally started on Path of Radience then completed all GBA, the DS then I'm still trying to finish this game =) great series no?

@Hemlocke3 Well, I did struggle to begin with since I wasn't sure what I was doing. Math has never been a strong point of mine, so trying to figure if I could get away without dying was a big issue. I also didn't take the weight of a weapon into consideration on my first playthrough and always wondered why so and so wouldn't double an enemy, or wouldn't hit him, or kept getting hit. Right from the start I saw this was an extremely hard game to play. Then I bought PoR, which is my favorite FE.

They made an anime of fire emblem(I think it was from 1980's... maybe 1990's) but they had to cut the show off, because of the money shortage... Japan's wealth have risen now, right? why can't they make a continuation of that, I'll support them by buying the DVD's It'd be great, pokemon did the animation and it went well :(

Except the Pokemon anime ended up being an abomination after the first season. Fire Emblem anime would never become as bad as the Pokemon anime since Nintendo would be smart enough to acknowledge the fact that there is more than one main character in the series and that they wouldn't rename the main character of the first game to some weird name (Ashy Ketchup anyone?)

one thing I like about Radiant Dawn is the music seems to be more orchestral but I'm not saying that Path of Radiance but song of the songs are it aren't all that great but still its a great game. heck I'm still playing it :) but some of the songs are way better in RD like "The Black Knight lives" and "Eternal Bond" :)

I was playing import Fire Emblems long before they released the series in the U.S. When I first got it, I was like, "How have we totally missed this series?" It's pretty weird that everyone knows about it now. :)

I beat it, then long awaited Shadow Dragon, sadly it was somewhat a dissapointment after playing RD, the game play was alright, but the story and music just didn't make the cut for me.
RD has all 3 and in great form!

Ahh, i love Fire Emblem... I have played (with Emulators help to get them) Seisen no Keifu, awesome game, Thracia 776, Sword of Seals/Sealed Sword, Blazing Sword, Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance , Radiant Dawn which is my all time favourite, and Shadow Dragon. Yes, I am a Fire Emblem fan. I love RD an Seisen no Keifu the most~ : D

For being aweome and cool, Vanguard Ike is my favourite. For effectiveness, Assassins for there one hit abilities. Swordmasters / forests in FE Seisen no Keifu with Shooting Star (Astra) and Moonlight hit (Luna). Check my Skasaher vid, you'll see what i mean.

"I fight for my friends" Does not sound like something Ike would say, especially Ike in radiant dawn. For example in the chapter Blood pact, and a few others, Ike will fight anybody without hesitation even if they were on his team before.

Huh...really? If you do, make sure to make it very accurate to the game, but the characters should have more of a relationship between each other,, and development then they do in FE Radiant Dawn.
I'd like to read the manga when you make it.

@lordrath2000 Well, Nintendo sucks at advertising, and the economy is shitty pretty much everywhere in the world. They probably don't have the money, or enough fans to make money off of it. Plus they might not even make an anime for it even if a lot of people did like it....it really sucks but I doubt they will ever make an anime or OVA series for it...

They were awesome back in the 90s, and if you payed any attention to recent commercials, they look like they're going back to the old days of expensive but awesome commercials and advertisements. I'm guessing that their advertising ability skips a decade. And this is Nintendo we're talking about, even if the economy is in the hole all over the world, Nintendo most likely has more than enough money to make an anime or OVA. They just probably don't want to consider making them.

heh, I know, I don't really expect it to be made anyway. Right now I'm just wanting more Fire Emblem games and scanlators to finish translating all the Fire Emblem mangas. FE6 manga is translated and it seems FE4 is being worked on, but it seems they abandoned FE1.

Will probably take a long time, especially since it would be the first one to be a third part of a saga in the series. For now, I'm content with these remakes of games I didn't get to play. Of course I could just emulate them, but playing emulated games on PC feels unnatural and uncomfortable to me.

My theory is that when Reggie took over, NoA forgot how to make good commercials, so they asked Japan for help, but I'm guessing NoJ wanted to have a little fun so they had NoA make commercials that made them look incompetent in gamer's eyes.

u can play it again, u have the option to unlock pelleas (by having micaiah refuse to kill him) and sephiran (by deploying BK in part 1 endgame, and by having ike figh the black knight in 3-7, and both of them survive the battle)

if u want to recruit him move micaiah to the square 1 left and 12 up from the bottom right (i think that's it, it has a sniper on/near it, its been a while)
he's not really a secret char, because he can be unlocked on the 1st playthrough
