Question is... Does this song and this band need to be defined and categorized? Probably not because most that commented on here were attracted by their work, simply. They are good, they creative and they are original. Let's just enjoy it, yes?! A damn shame they broke up...
Fantomas, Melvins, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Kayo Dot album ... Toby Driver is essential in this extreme metal weirdness. All held together by Zorn on sax.
"How should one describe this music? RIO-Metal? Heavy-Dada? Dada-Progmetal? Hard-Avantgarde?" (quote) Damn right. Thanx for coming to Germany, THRICE since 2006, guys! Other bands are not that productive.
Yeah! I saw them live and it was so GREAT! Their vibe is awesome. Even if you don't like their music, I would still urge you to go see them live. It's so different live and much better!
tony levin from king crimson (playing with the california guitar trio) opened up for Sleepytime Gorlla Museum in louisville a few years ago. that's how epic they are live.
Yes they did close with this song...bet you didn't expect Nil's father to come out and play classical guitar during the pause in the middle of the song! "Salt Crown" was off the hook also...yes Carla is pregnant!
I saw them with Secret Chiefs 3 (good band too, you would like them) and they totally stole the show! Sleepytime Gorilla Museum were awesome I wish they played longer.. I wish I could see them tonight!
Not exactly Nil's father, but you can find my son (Adam Phillips) playing guitar with his old band, Indorphine. You can also hear a few of my home made videos here on youtube.
It's most likely Youtube auto-leveling and normalizing the perfectly fine rip. It's actually not too bad if SGM could pull off the quick drops in dynamics such like this :)
Btw, the reissue was the first CD I bought in a long time without even caring if it may suck, I seriously did not know SHIT about this band. Thanks Mr. Spruance!

Also, My Drummer's Cousin is in SGM, that's how I heard about them.
No I don't actually mean we need to hang out, that would be creepy. But seriously great taste in music man.
