  • Question is... Does this song and this band need to be defined and categorized? Probably not because most that commented on here were attracted by their work, simply. They are good, they creative and they are original. Let's just enjoy it, yes?! A damn shame they broke up...

  • this is the heaviest not heavy song you will ever here i mean listen theres no destertion

  • I bet Mr. Bungle and King Crimson were these guys big influence.... This is some amazing stuff here!!! :)

  • @Brollyhero99TOP10

I'd say more Béla Bartok, Henry Cow, and the Art Bears

  • @Brollyhero99TOP10 I just told my friend that if there was any band that combined Larks/Discipline era Crimson with Tow Waites , it is SGM.

  • R.I.P Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

  • Imagine if you'd add up the time you spent sleeping, how long would it be?.. and what could you do with it?..

  • Holy shit! This is PERFECT. I've been looking for something like this for so long.

  • 7 people think that sleep is good....

  • @Astraios91 Hell yeah!

  • The transition fro the introduction to the first.. err... verse? (ugh, at 1:22) is done perfectly, methinks.

  • @Suckassloser Yeah, you can even hear "The Pooping Turtle" in the section.

  • i'm insane now.

  • Wow. How come I've missed this band?

    It's a real gem!

I'm a fan instantly, and have only heard a handful of their songs, gonna go get their albums now ;-)

  • In my college Comm2 class we are in poetry, and I realized that they quote a poem in their song:

"Do Not Go Gentle Into that Good Night" by Dylan Thomas

That makes it much more interesting.

  • one of their finest songs, along with cockroach the brillaint.

  • They should finish Idiot Flesh's last album first :P

  • @buddhabomber Dude Mike in anything = win =D

  • Fantomas, Melvins, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Kayo Dot album ... Toby Driver is essential in this extreme metal weirdness. All held together by Zorn on sax.

  • there's dog fashion disco as well

  • @fristdynamo Nah, Sleepytime is on another planet.

  • We need to hang out. All those bands are incredible.

Also, My Drummer's Cousin is in SGM, that's how I heard about them.

No I don't actually mean we need to hang out, that would be creepy. But seriously great taste in music man.

  • "How should one describe this music? RIO-Metal? Heavy-Dada? Dada-Progmetal? Hard-Avantgarde?" (quote) Damn right. Thanx for coming to Germany, THRICE since 2006, guys! Other bands are not that productive.

  • that's less often than they come to where I live, montreal. and I'm on the same continent. = (

  • How about MIO (Metal in Opposition)? (:

  • That's a heck of song.

  • Wow...WOW.

This is one hell of a song. :applause:

  • When I grow up I'm never gonna sleep...

... so we're all children, then, my dear staff?

  • Sounds to me like a very twisted form of old Korn and Meshuggah. Just my thoughts though. Awesome kickass song nonetheless.

  • this is soooo good!

sounds like the residents but far more twisted!

  • tony levin from king crimson (playing with the california guitar trio) opened up for Sleepytime Gorlla Museum in louisville a few years ago. that's how epic they are live.

  • I was there......STGM was better. =)

  • I saw this band in Orlando last month. It was mind-blowing. Great band.

  • Yes they did close with this song...bet you didn't expect Nil's father to come out and play classical guitar during the pause in the middle of the song! "Salt Crown" was off the hook also...yes Carla is pregnant!

  • Are you serious? Man I really have to see this band. That's awesome!

  • I saw them with Secret Chiefs 3 (good band too, you would like them) and they totally stole the show! Sleepytime Gorilla Museum were awesome I wish they played longer.. I wish I could see them tonight!

  • Not exactly Nil's father, but you can find my son (Adam Phillips) playing guitar with his old band, Indorphine. You can also hear a few of my home made videos here on youtube.

  • Indorphine needs to be a band again :( One of a kind.

  • Hmm, never got to see papa Frykdahl. Damn. Lucky. :(

  • I've posted a video of the piece I played during Sleep Is Wrong in Orlando. Enjoy.

  • I wasn't there, but I was at the State Theatre the next day. What was the setlist for Orlando?

  • Comment removed

  • how fucking awesome are they! :D such talented musicians... so clever! <3

  • Is it the original recording or something in the rip that makes the volume fluctuate?

  • It's most likely Youtube auto-leveling and normalizing the perfectly fine rip. It's actually not too bad if SGM could pull off the quick drops in dynamics such like this :)

Btw, the reissue was the first CD I bought in a long time without even caring if it may suck, I seriously did not know SHIT about this band. Thanks Mr. Spruance!

  • strange and scary..but love it!

  • all the same, spelled right or wrong, doesn't affect quality of the song! which is btw 1 of my favourites, ever.

  • if you guy like this, you should check out This Heat. This song is a cover of theirs. They were a counter-culture ?Rock? group in the 80s.

  • They covered S.P.Q.R. by This Heat but not this song

  • SICKNESS!!LOVIN' IT!!!!!!

  • LOL love the last 5 seconds!

  • Now that's avant-garde... They should record with Fantomas :)
