Got turned on to OMD when "Dreaming" came out and bought The Best Of and this was the first track...blew my mind! And still does!

I remember their wonderful performance supporting Gary Numan at Newcastle City hall back in 1980! This song was one of many highlights in their set - Messages and Red Frame White Light being among the others! It was weird seeing a three piece band where one of them was a TEAC reel-to-reel tape machine called Winston! The first two OMD albums are complete masterpieces - well worth acquiring! I will never ever tire of hearing this tremendous song - it still sounds fresh and vital today!

that haunting keyboard riff still mesmerizes me. This was the golden age of indie music... 1979 to 1981. Music had grown beyond punk, but had not yet became the commercialized, big-hair cliched '80s. 1980... To me they will always be ORCHESTRAL MANOEUVRES IN THE DARK not OMD. I suspect the name OMD was coined for the American market, as the former was too complex.

Awesome! One of my favorites. Touring N.A. now and close with this song.  What's amazing is they wrote this song in 1976. If you consider what was playing on the airwaves in 1976, this was pioneering work. Also listen to the lyrics. They reject nuclear power, hydroelectric power (HEP), fossil fuel energy, and praise solar electricity as the cleanest fuel of all. In 1976! 35 years later, we are still dealing with the same debate and only now just starting to use solar power.
