Hands down, the worst movie I have ever seen. Not just because it felt like this story was the brainchild of some high school kids who came up with this as a means to pass the time at weekend detention, but to think this atrocity was actually given a go by a major film production company could just delete one's mind of any creative thought. Then, to go out and sell this crap to (and acquire) the stars who are in this movie just completely defies all that is logical.

Rourke and 50 Cents character emphasis was not needed at all. If you took the mini back-story out for Rourke there would be change in the overall film. The film could have done without it. All in all, cool film, the original is better at certain things and this is better at certain things. If only they could be meshed together and kept in black and white.

@mostarstyle this version robs the original of some impact. it was not knowing what the kid was getting into that made the movie so frightening. however, its from the same Georgian director, and this was his second film... so it is just tailored for english audiences with attention paid to keeping them not bored (the original is slow, but really rewards you for your patience). its still a worthy version, but if you insist on not watching it for a shallow minded reason, watch the original.

But this does remind me of dark European movies. I enjoyed it, I recommend it but I am not sure what the audience here will think. Because it is more thinking than just action.

People don't seem to realize that the original was far from a masterpiece. They're both worth watching though, The actors in the remake are all surprisingly good.
