I don't think Marn was calling Mago cheap; rather Fei Long because he's got some amazing tools at his disposal. Especially against Dudley who's one of the worst characters in the game versus Fei one of the best.

Anyone who can take a game from Mago with Dudley deserves some kind of props imo. I don't know of anyone else who's managed that.

Though Marn has trouble with execution sometimes, dropping more BnBs than he landed and missing the overhead on almost every wake-up.

@Zaxex Um, Fei Long is not "one of the best" in the game. He's only represented so well in this match because this is purely footsie focused match-up and Fei excels in that respect. Dudley is also very good at footsies, but Mago has much better reaction time and plays much smarter than Marn. Also, Dudley is not one of the "worst" characters in the game, please play the game rather than reading a tier list and taking it for fact.

@Frostylongcat Okay my bad, the assumption that Fei was one of the best is from a tier list top Japanese players made; I don't know enough about Fei or the entire cast to truly judge tier lists. I play a lot of SSFIV and main Dudley; Dudley does not have good footsies. His sweep is incredibly slow and footsies represent perhaps his biggest shortcoming. Dudley definitely has bad match-ups though I won't deny that Mago outplayed Marn here. Still, doing as well as he did with Dudley is a feat.

@Zaxex Agreed, Dudley has bad match-ups, but I don't feel Fei Long is a particularly terrible one. I'd say it's more even than most of his bad match-ups. And sure, Dudley has a slow sweep, but his cr.mk is fairly quick. I'd say Dudley's defense game is his weakest point, and Fei is the king of rushdown, thus making it difficult for Dudley. On the flip side, Fei Long doesn't have fantastic defense, so if you can get in the pressure with Dudley you can dance all over Fei. Just my opinion.

@Frostylongcat I'm pretty much still a beginner as SSF4 (Under 2,000 PP generally) and Fei is one of my better match-ups, at least according to win rate. I know that sounds contradictory but at low levels online no one is landing Fei's 1 frame-links or playing him particularly well. cr.MK Is Dudley's sweep, cr.HK juggles and is indeed slower (10 and 14 frame start-up respectively) compared to Fei's 6 frame sweep. I assume Mago is one of the best Fei's and can really exploit Fei's strengths.

First thing you need to realize are that the links that Marn performs are all very hard, he's one of the few people that can pull off Dudley's links consecutively. Also keep in mind that these are just casual matches, Marn & Mago are just playing for fun. When Marn play's seriously he is a very smart player, and definitely one of the top 5 players in America.

@darnallt Of course he got trashed, he's playing against Mago (arguably one of THE best SF4 players in the world) If you watched the whole stream you would have also seen Marn dominating a bunch of very skilled Japanese players handily, Those players were no scrubs either. Also being trashed at SBO is no surprise, American players NEVER make it far in SBO. But just because you lose to the better player does not mean you're a scrub, Marn would still destroy about 90% of American pro players.
