  • I have a BBC english accent and everyone says im posh but im not im just wellspoken. BBC english is like news readers and stuff its just more well pronounced then lets say the cockney accent?

  • Do Americans have an accent to you?

I heard that as long as it's different from what you are used to then it is an accent to you.

Is your accent considered and English accent? I love your accent :) Peace

  • When you're young your accent has a tendency to shift. When you get halfway into your thirties it tends to set like drying glue...

I believe there's less of an emphasis on accents in North America than there is in the UK..

  • Woop woop, West Midlands massif! Yam funny! hee hee

I can swear quite a lot in Spanish, btw!

  • Nah yo am! :D

  • i get told i sound southern on the phone i really dont know how or why i never been in the south a day in my life!

  • Your accent rocks! :)

  • Rooby is right, you do look delicious. I don't think I have a telephone/professional voice. My folks are from the midwest, but Dad was in the Air force so I've lived in the northeast, the south and overseas. Mostly on bases so I was always exposed to many regional accents. I've been in the Northwest for more than 30 yrs so I'm sure I sound like someone from here.

My english accent sounds kind of like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins (boy that gives my age away).

  • i jus member yu an SJ on vent back in SoA :P

comun as muck but hey arnt we all hun

dunn worrie most ppl have a phone voice js some worse than others :P

  • I totally know what you mean chick. I used work in the offices at Paignton Zoo here in Devon. I was only 15/16 at the time and had quite a strong Devonshire accent. I intentionally became posher sounding. Now I wouldn't know how to go back into strong Devonshire speak.

I wouldn't say my accent is different off cam but my speech is much lazier.

You're looking fucking delicious incidentally. x

  • we as people Don't hear our voices the way others do. We hear it. as the way our ears pick it up. then if we record. Ourselfs. We hear hear alot different sounding. Your ears tend to pick up different sounds based on how the sounds come to you.

For me its Kinda hard. Being Hearing impaired. Not knowing what sound was a vary young age.

  • I sound a lot less broad on my utube videos than i do when im with family.

    Lilly

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • Bonjour!

    Lilly

  • I totally have a telephone voice. I've worked at a lot of help desk and call centers and over time I've developed my telephone voice that sounds a bit different than my normal speaking pitch and accent.

I can't really tell the difference between the different UK English accents. When I try to do an English accent it is all over the place and super fake and tends to turn into an Australian accent :)

  • Ive noticed that! A lot of people cant tell the diference between australian and english accents on line.

    Lilly

  • That happens to me all the time. Not only with accent, but if I hang around certain people who repeat certain words or phrases a lot, I tend to pick them up too whether I want to or not. It's a bit annoying at times. The last thing I picked up was a terrible nervous laugh from an old friend of mine. It drives me nuts. I hate it and I wish I could stop doing it!

  • I did that a lot when i was a teen, drove me mad, it was totally subconscious too.

    Lilly

  • My accent doesn't change when I speak to the camera, but my tone of voice tends to, depending on the type of talking I'm doing. Usually, there's at least a slight change as I have no one to react to and no one who reacts to me.

  • Does Norway vary a great deal on accent/dialect depending on location or is it very similar across the board?

I tried to learn a few words of Norwegan from your video :)

    Lilly

  • It varies as much as any other country, I suspect. Actually, in many ways, even more. To someone who doesn't understand Norwegian, and even to some people who're BORN in Norway, some dialects sound like a completely different language. ^_^ If you're wondering about dialects, check out one of my first videos, called "Accents". I talk English in various Norwegian accents there. Then there's Tongue Twister Extreme, which has five Norwegian dialects in it.

  • I do that alot i live in a tourist type area and any type work you do here involves working with ppl with different accents.I pick up stuff from everyone i hear so ppl have no idea where i'm from unless i just really lazy and go into my southern drawl.

  • You could be 007 with those skills :D

    Lilly

  • Dear lady Lilly,

I can teach you Dutch but only if you really need it or want it. In case the country you live it is becoming oppressive of demotives you, then the Netherlands would be one of the most convenient countries to move to.

In this country, English is used and even applied in company communications because many business clients are American and some are British.

A secretary job is easy to get here, especially with my guidence because I have strong connections.

  • Now I am not tempting you or secretly hoping for you to make such a fabulous decission. I'd personally say that I can offer you many things in case you are interested to move to Holland and learn Dutch, but you don't know where to get started.

I am for myself not yet sure on what I want when it's about having a place I call home and connect it with a country. Maybe that will come later. I good here where I am today.

  • Oh and another thing..... I almost forgot.

The story about your accent, which I adore, is somewhat simular of content to what my story beholds.

However, I got my original accent (and I am not talking about my English containing a Dutch accent) but more about my civil Dutch accent. I got mine from The Hague. I've been in almost every city but I just adore the accent of The Hague. However, it's not my natural primary accent and never was but I feel very tempted to sometimes use it again.

  • Oh and ehm Happy New Year by the way.

Like the other Rocking Chick already mentioned:

2009 WILL KICK ASS and if you don't believe it, I will spank you with my double-sided whip!

    Ha ha glorious.

    Love you all.

    ~Lady Zero

  • Hehe - wow many replies :D

    Thank you :D

    Lilly

  • Ive friends from all over Hlooand and their accents sound diferent to me, and the dialect is very different, its a bit confusing when learing the language, same as here i guess.

  • The children wouldnt cope in Holland they would fall in a canal or be run over by the bikes there for sure, they wouldnt cope at all.

  • Oh no, i have no desire to move, (well if i won a lot of money id move to Australia or New Zealand!)

  • I don't have a youtube voice,..I'm a youtube mute lol

Thats crazy about your black country accent,..I actually live in the black country, yet my accent only comes out when Im drunk lol

  • I dont think ive ever heard your voice, your right!

I know my accent is quite Dudley! I just dont fit with anyone else in my family - im a freak!

    Lilly

  • I am so dying to hear you talk! Send me a voice clip or something!

  • wow. different accents in England are a real interest to me. almost why i started watching youtube. I taught English in Japan and a colleague was from Manchester. we spoke for many hours about the different accents our students might encounter. Thanks this was a great video.

  • The accents can be really broad, even localy to me there are places where others find it hard to understand, its all about dialect too, which gets very confusing!

    Lilly

  • My video voice is very deep and graveley like a wrestler, but my normal voice i a bit higher and i have a slight southern draw untill i get pissed then my southern draw really comes out, the strange thing is im mexican. Now i can speak a bit of spanish with a spanish accient, i don't speak it like a gringo lol. Have a great day sweetheart, Love Damage Inc 2

  • Your accent is cool! I really do wish I could speak more languages!
