Does anyone have a video of the inside of the store, pictures or anything? I lived just down the street from it as a child and was probably there weekly with my mother at least 100 times. It's been so long now though, 25 years...
Hiway Market was a weekly treat for us.......Does anyone have any idea where to get the recipe for the rum balls they sold at Hiway Market? They were the best!
I DEF remember this place itself, even if my memories are quite vague. When I was a kid in the 80s, my parents would occasionally head up to Kitchener, just to shop at Hiway Market, instead of buying groceries in Cambridge, where we lived. They always said the prices were better than anywhere else, and the people were much friendlier. But I DO remember that it closed down in 1987.
