I would actually love to start up a station modeled after KRLA or as Cheech Marin used to say on the promo he recorded for them, "Heyyyyyy! you're listening to K Orale! It could be done on the internet but it wouldn't be easy.
All the great stations are now just repeaters of national political drivel. No wonder the AM band died. Nothing left but talk. If I wanted talk I'd buy a CB Radio, at least the dialog would be more intelligent and entertaining than the Rush-wanna-be-Beck-tard-Hanni-goons. Good bye old AM Radio you were a dear friend at one time.
I have KRLA- KRTH- XTRA on tape from 1986 & 1987. My tapes only as I recorded them myself while vacationing out in LA. Steele, Midday Mike, Johnny Hayes and maybe a few others.
What a huge disappointment it was when KRLA was pulled. LA and SoCal has such history & heritage in rhythm & blues and the whole doo-wop sound. But now we are left with KRTH as our oldies station. WHAT A DISGRACE. I know I am not the only one who misses Huggy Boy, Charlie Tuna, Johnny Hayes, Wolfman Jack, the Real Don Steele, Machine Gun Kelly, Art Laboe, and Humble Harv.
