Come on John wrote this by himself. John wrote most of the great songs , imo. Paul was great and a great musician (the only Beatles who could read music too) but John was a fricken genius but sure the Beatles were essential to John's genius.
@SuperBeatlesForever I think they were the original weren't they? They wrote this song and gave it to Billy J. Kramer through Epstein. I wish they could have released it as a record themselves though so the quality would be better, I love this version!
i love this song and when i'm listening to their songs it seems they are just around the corner. wish John visits me in my house ha ha not scary though
Thanks for sharing. Once upon a time I heard this song and "I'll be on my way" together on local Polish radio with an adnotation that these are rarely songs. So after a longer break I listen to them again. Warm greetings
I really have to agree with you,beatlespip123; this version is infinitely superior to the one released by Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas. The fact that it's only a demo makes no difference at all. Thanks for posting this rare gem!!

They let Peter and Gordan have World Without Love because Paul was sleeping with Peter's sister, Jane. I'm not sure about this song, but I suspect it had something to do with B.J. Kramer sleeping with the Beatles manager, Brian Epstein.
This is great. i've had this bootleg for decades. john and Paul on acoustics. this is said to have been recorded in the bathroom. supposedly as a joke they even included the sound of the "lou" flushing when they submitted the demo to Billy J.
One of the better L&M giveaways, not up there with 'Goodbye' and 'Come and Get It', but very, very good and well played and sung by John. Thanks for posting.
I'd say that Billy Kramer's version isn't very good. = / I mean, this song is very sweet to sing to a special person. Like,"Yesterday",I don't think adding any Drums or Bass is really necessary. But then it's only my opinion. = ]
Just think.. Mac & Lennon wrote this when they were knee to a Junebug... 13-14 years of age.... Just think what a polished Beatle version would sound like.. But, yes... Billy J did a MAAAA vulus joB... Cheers
I always wished they had made a recording of this. One of Lennon`s best and although Billy J. Kramer did a good job of it, I can just imagine a polished studio version of this...
Eh, I disagree. I don't think they'd be that different without Ringo. It's the popular thing to say among Beatles fans in order to lift Ringo up, but he was the only member of the band I believe was replaceable. Just being honest, just my opinion. How I wish "With A Little Help From My Friends" was sung by John.
to superman: I disagree. The beatles were so desperate to get him (Ringo) they bought his contract out from another band. As either Lennon or McCartney once said (verbatim) "we liked him immediately because he didnt showboat (over do it) and held the beat." No one is saying that he was technically the best drummer around but he had a unique style that fit well with the beatles. Lets not confuse technical proficiency with "art" & "style" because it is not the same thing.
@smokiebird06 - No, you're not sounding melodramatic; the Beatles did change the world. As a Canadian kid living in Germany in the late 50s and tin the mid- to late-60s, I witnessed the dramatic change. Not only in attitudes (getting rid of the post-war syndrome), but in fashion, in politics (yes, the Berlin Wall coming down could be attributed to the cultural changes sparked by the Beatles). And thanks to TV and records the World was able to come together... So yes, they did change the world.
Simply amazing. One of their best. Should have been an official. If you like this one you should also like Blackbird. Kind of similar in the sense of just the pure vocal-acustic combo.
I'm always a bit weary of listening to Beatles demo's and unreleased work because I'm afraid of it not being good. But this just confirms how incredible they were and how over 40 years later I'm still impressed by the music they did!
Man, if I wrote this song I'd hang onto it like it was a solid gold ticket to fame and glory. I'd keep it under my pillow and kiss it before going to bed every night.
But The Beatles, they just gave it to someone else. That says it all.
In "The Beatles Recording Sessions", McCartney claims that "we" wrote Bad to Me. The vertical structure of the melody sounds very much like McCartney to me. But regardless, what a fabulous Lennon vocal. It would have been a much better song on With The Beatles than the goofy Little Child.
