  • One of my favorite songs ever.

  • Riding West with the wind blowing the prairie grass around on either side.

  • One of my all time favorite Byrd tunes. Tom Petty does a pretty good cover version.

  • REAL GROOVY MAN NOW WHERE IS MY VEST AND SANDALS

  • Despite the needless vulgarity, I agree

  • não vou comprar chester, bichona, sai fora, maluco,te quebro esse teu queixo, bichona

  • wish you share this :(

  • Thumbs up if you love this song!

  • @RawWolfJournalist - That's a thumbs up, Brother! Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

  • One of the many hits by this great group. I was a weekend DJ in Lansing, MI while attending Michigan State and the Byrds got a lot of airplay. Check out My Back Pages which was my favorite.

  • Lifts the chords from The Searchers' Needles and Pins, but I still love it.

  • @Correspondent00 Good observation

  • This reminds me of Needles And Pins..

  • I love the Lyric "probably" feel a whole lot better. Like he's not too sure yet. Cool! Thank You for posting!

  • Well I gotta say that this is way up there on my fav song list. It sticks with me. I recall the first time I heard it, and It is not showing signs of fraying with age. Just brilliant. Great sound on this post, thanks so much!

  • I feel so privileged in some ways. My father was terrible in many ways. However, I'm 35, going on 36. My favorite band is the Beatles, and the Byrds rank high up there. My father pushed his music on me, and I couldn't be more thankful for that. I try to do this with my son now, especially with the crap that's thrown at him. I can only hope it hold true for him as it did for me. Growing up with real music taught me to appreciate it, and drove me to an interest in classical, blues, and jazz.

  • They don't make music like this anymore :(

  • This is the first song I've ever heard by The Byrds, and I must say that it's terrific!

  • @WayneThePhilosopher I was on the East Coast when the Byrds were playing this and we really were intrigued with what was going on at the West Coast at this time. They Really had the pulse. Then I went to L. A. and it was a real Mindset back then.

  • @WayneThePhilosopher check out 8 Miles High by The Byrds.

  • Its not that todays music isnt any good. Its just that The beatles,The Stones,The Beach Boys,The Doors,The Byrds,Hendrix,Cream,Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and alot of other bands raised the bar SOOOOO DAMN HIGH !!!

  • I've always thought that the song really sounded full until the guitar lead...then McGuinn does the lead and leaves Crosby to do the rhythm on the 6 string. Somehown, to me the dynamics of the song drop out only to return afater the lead and McGuinn resumesthe strumming on the Ric. I think it would have sounded better with the Ric keeping the rhythm chords while the lead was on the 6. Just my opinion

  • This really sounds the best I've ever heard it. That 12 string Rickenbacker just cruises Waaay way up there.

  • @pbrucpaul : The 12-string-Ric symbolizes the sound of the 60's rather well.

  • Genius!!! Gene Clarke at his Byrds best and those lead breaks take off (no pun intended). This is the greatest slab of mid sixties west coast pop ever...A

  • I hear a lot of striking similarities between these guitar chords and those of 'Needles and Pins' by The Searchers

  • This song got me buying rock n roll records.

  • One of my all time favorite Byrds songs. An unmistakable sound, much copied by later groups. I had all their albums and knew all the songs by heart! They were a true supergroup before there were supergroups.

  • So sweet. Thanks for posting this.

  • Esto influencio al maestro de Charly...buen cover el de Charly!

  • Esto influencio al maestro de Charly

    ...buen cover el de Charly!

  • Very '60's sound! That Rickenbacker by McGuinn was incredible.

  • Wat een feest met You Tube

  • rickenbacker electric 12 strings are for the byrds!!!!!

  • Nothing sounds like a 12-string Rickenbacker....with McGuinn playing it!!

  • @ClubViking63 A Hard Day's Night is very similar! McGuinn loved The Beatles!

  • @davidturner9823 Hmm, Yes George did play a Rickenbacker?

But McGuinn took it to perfection.

  • @ClubViking63 Well I wouldn't argue this song is perfection, but so is the entire Beatles catalog. Wish music today was on the same level..

  • @davidturner9823 This song is a Gene Clarke masterpiece. If you want to listen to a 12-string Rickenbacker masterpiece, just go back to Mr Tambourine Man.

  • Fuck all those mainstream lady gaga, justin bieber bullshit. This is the music!

  • @XVsiLEnT Remember it's a different generation.

  • @XVsiLEnT after hearing that i wouldnt mind being considered a hipster

  • @samuriguy25 what is that suppose to mean?

  • @XVsiLEnT Listen to "Needles and Pins"

  • @XVsiLEnT Oh, hell, yeah!!! The first time I heard this, I thought it was the Beatles.

  • @XVsiLEnT whats being mainstream got anything to do with it? this was mainstream 45 years ago

  • What a tune. Really wish stuff like this was on the radio when I went to high school....

  • Another Byrds song that has a hypnotic effect on me. It enthralls me.

  • Hi!

I grew up in the '60's.

    Problem is I don't remember the "60"s.

  • Wow! Haven't heard this song since high school. Brings back thoughts of University high in LA.

  • @radicright I was back East at the time and we really liked the pulse of Rock out there in California.

  • I agree with you older guys I'm 62 and this makes me feel 16 again

  • When the Beatles came to the U.S..one reporter ask "What is your favorite American group?"....John said..."The Byrds!"...

  • @exponet24 We probably wouldn't have a lot of Rubber Soul without The Byrds.

  • @SRone45 reverse that would ya luv

  • @SRone45 mcguinn picked up a 360/12 after he heard george play it. george was the first person rickenbacker ever gave the guitar to. they were all friends though so who cares really.

  • @exponet24

Really? That's awesome! Where did you see that?

  • All time fave Byrds song.

  • I'm 61 years old and all I have to do is put on any Byrds CD and voila.....I'm instantly 16 again playing my 12 string in my bedroom at home.

  • @johnnynocaster When I hear The Byrds, I am transported back through time into a better era. You and I have seen things that might not happen again. We have seen historical moments unfold before our very eyes!

  • I am 62 now & this song sounds just as great today.Rock on 60 music

  • great song

  • I was 16 when this came out and I'll never forget the sound of McGuinn's Ric. I've always loved this song. I'm 61 now and I still play it quite often and it still takes me back to my younger days and the girlfriend I loved so much, who by the way dumped me for some scumbag.

  • I lived through the 60s and am in the process of divorcing a cheating wife. This is my theme song.

  • Amazin for those who didnt live through these days......SORRY....u missed them

  • The first time I heard this, I thought it sounded so much like The Beatles. And it sounds great playing this on a 12-string.

  • i feel a whole lot better when this is on! thanks mrtamberineman123

  • What a great song by a great group.. i am 58 and when i listen to this i still feel like a teenager... wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • a nice song :)

  • oh just listening to this, brightens my day ..wonderful ...

  • i feel aWHOLE LOT BETTER after hearing THIS CLASSIC

  • One of the best songs that Gene Clark ever wrote...and one of the best the Byrd songs ever!

    Rob

  • My favorite Byrds tune.

  • Thanks ,,great post. RWB

  • me siento mucho mas fuerte sin tu amor

    pupe

    LA JOYA

  • @pupe26 Es Cierto. Savor!

  • With great speakers this number is pure 60's. You just get up and move to this!

  • This song *IS* The Very Best of The Byrds.

  • Wow-that remastered sound is really impeccable! Beautiful! Regards, The '62 Mathew St. Band (1 Man-Full Group Retro)

  • timeless...........there aren't many like this anymore

  • That's just gorgeous. The harmonies and the "jangle" of the guitars just takes me back to California is the 60s. Damned amazing time, place and music.

  • When i first heard this and that Guitar back in '65, I thought Wow California's got a sound rivaling the Beatles. McCartney actually said they were a favorite of his.

  • @pbrucpaul It is a great song but you can't deny the obvious Beatles influence with that repeating of the verses.

  • @Dodo251 actually the beatles were inspired by the byrds especially in writing the song "If I Needed Someone."

  • @Dodo251 absolutely. every little thing, eight days a week, what youre doin, the byrds owe their career to that one beatles album. this byrds song however is still a classic and the solo is one of the best ever.

  • wow even at aged 61 retired and living in the philippines this sounds as fresh and memorable as when i heard it first in 65

  • geof is correct ! This song sounds just as good today as it did when l first bought the lp in 67! Love the Byrds harmonizing guitar work.

  • @geoffhoare1 / you go my friend.me too.i,m 57 and we were very fortunate to be groing up with all this classic music.

  • @geoffhoare1 Indeed it does... Timeless music...and at 61 as well, I'm looking forward to getting out of the rat race here...and suggestions on how you did it living in the Philippines?

  • @tmf945 How does malaria sound or any number of tropical diseases you'll definitely encounter? Find some place north.

  • @geoffhoare1 ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT

  • @geoffhoare1 Anytime and anywhere the Byrds rule! Mr Mc Guinn is the King of pop music!

  • great song!
