Wow 6 years and you do not know what a lm2500 is. FFG sailor 1984-1994. The Gas turbine Field must of really changed over the years. You must of been the mess deck master at arms or the berthing compartment cleaning Petty Officer

sucks, packs, pops,blows and goes. Power Turbine max rpm 3960 rpm plus or minus 40 rpm. igniters on at 1200 rpm . Idle 5000 rpm FSEE Free Standing Electronic Enclosure. LOP,PCC,EPCC. PLA electrical and mechanical rigging. Mil Spec 23699 oil. 16stage compressor axial flow, annualar combuster. Just a luck y guess

Old Spruance class destroyer GSM here. This is painful to watch. Been working on gas turbines since getting out of the Navy. Worked for GE for years, at a GT power plant for 13, now I have my own business working on GT controls. Going on 28 years these screamers! Nothing else I'd rather work on than a gas turbine engine!

i wish i had taken videos of CCS on the ffg i was on ,, the PCC is an awesume console , i miss that part of the navy ,, not the rest , i was a pretty awesume PCC operator if i do say so myself :)

we didn't have a PCC operator on the ffg i was on... the EOOW was the operator

@noah14569 we did both a while ,, had alot of old school navy guys on the ship that just couldn't handle all of it at once ,,, so we did a EOOW, PCC, EPCC operator in CCS ,, I was an EOOW and ran the PCC when i got qualified

PHM's had a single LM2500, which went to reduction then to a propusler. Unique about it was with the hull completely out of the water, we sounded like a rain storm. Many a time a sub would come up to look and then O(I*^#*%$!@#&%!@$# DIVE DIVE DIVE

We are an engine overhaul facility. We take them apart to the last little piece, rub them with magic dust and reassemble them. Then we have to test them.

Some operators think what we do is boring, but I find it interesting.

the ones in most destroyers in the US navy rate at 80,000 HP

One LM2500 is between 18,000 to 21,000 depending on the year it was made, but destroyers have 4 GT engines so cumulative would be 80,000 ( 40,000 per shaft) which wouldn't reach that high anyway due to torque limiting.

@tturbine2500 I may very well be wrong. The only thing I know for sure is the LM2500 is basically a GE CF-6 without the LP fan. Been in for 4 years and it's been a great run. Definitely will re enlist when I finish my last 2. ABF3
