I hope the sound guy wouldn't get fired for cutting out the sound at :50. lol. The sound guy should have raised volume a little bit more later when 100 pieces of orchestra and the chorus came in together, but still it was so good. I keep coming back to watch David's performance here, again and again. thank you thop1984 for the great video! Wonderful job David!! I actually think I have become so accustomed to hearing David sing the SSB acapella , so brilliantly, that the orchestra, and choir as good as they sounded...almost irritated me! haha (also, I understand that for those who were at the event, they did not hear the mic. cut off. Only the people listening to it on the tv heard that.

I don't know who sakura52296 is but the number of negative posts by this person is suspect and therefore should be ignored as spam. Check the vid from 8throwcenter (sorry I can't get the link to work) to hear what david sounded like in person (and confirm just how off the tv sound mix was in comparison to live!): enjoy!

Aw. This was amazing. It's so cool that out of all the people, he was the one who got to perform the Star Spangled Banner on the forth of July at the Nation's capital. It's so great. For being so young, he's incredibly talented and has definately gotten so many once in a lifetime opportunities. This was brilliant and although you couldn't hear him that well, it didnt matter. David sang the song very well...if you didn't like the mix, you need to address the production team who set the levels at the 3 or 4 rehearsals beforehand. Personally, I thought it was outstanding except for the mic going out for a couple of seconds early in the song. But, hey, that's live tv.

He was overpowered by the orchestra and was not heard well enough. He definitely can be an outstanding singer but as one mentioned, it was not his best effort this time. Just being honest here.

The reason you couldn't hear him at certain points was because the microphone was not working right. It had nothing to do with his singing, and what proves he is a fantastic singer he didn't miss a beat even though the microphone went out.

@Sakura52296 The one drop-out of his voice was the venue's fault - they lost the mike audio for a couple of seconds. you can clearly hear him finishing a word when the mike sound comes back. I agree his mike should have been louder with a better band vs David balance like in the dress rehearsal. But he did a really nice job especially in a hot suit and tightened tie in 90+ degree weather. And what are you saying about autotune? He despises autotune.

I think management should have instructed the orchestra differently. David has a strong voice but not a powerhouse type to have handled the overwhelming orchestra. interpreted the song the way Marvin Gaye delivered it. That's the style and tempo that would have bee good for his voice. Surprisingly, nothing really spectacular

just typical. He needs to sing in a mid-tempo soulful style to get the best of his

vocal talent I think for any song but not bad.
