You sure about the Mary Byrne translation? Are not the words after the Italian Bianco Da siena, and translated by R.F. Littledale, the music by Vaughan Williams?
Truly beautiful and inspiring I have attended a Roman Catholic church that does an absolutely wonderful job with this anthem. It brings me back to my youth when hymns devoted to the presence of the Holy Spirit were all improtant. Thank you for this inspriing piece. Wonderful organ and choir.
I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. God Bless!
Thank you for this very beautiful video. The piano playing brought tears to my eyes as I remembered my mother playing hymns the way most of us breathe...it was part and parcel of her life.
I've not heard it so high - F!! :-)

I have just been to Down Ampney, where the locals were very helpful for my Vaughan Williams lecture. VW was, of course, an atheist.

We sang this at Church this morning. It is an ancient Latin Hymn, translated by the best: the Irish, Mary Byrne

stephen, I stand corrected:
Text: Bianco da Siena, d.1434, translated by Richard Frederick Littldale, 1833-1890
Melody: Ralph Vaughn Williams, 1872-1958, Oxford University Press
Harmonization: Ralph Vaughn Williams, copyright by Oxford University Press
"Be thou my Vision" is Irish and versified by Mary Byrne, translated by Eleonor Hull
