I own the 1999 XJ8 with every option including the Harman Kardon premium sound package with CD. That's the only thing missing from this car...

Threw all caution to the wind and bought a very early ( i'm still blowing the cobwebs off!) 1996 on an N-Plate XK8 Coupe for just £4700! 110,k miles, a few scruffs and scratches here and there....but hey a lot of flash for very little cash!

Now, coupe or convertible? I think that the coupe looks better and it will have a stiffer bodyshell but quad-cam V8 convertibles will always have an appeal.

What is the Difference between the XK8 and and the XJ8 ?

XJ8 = 4 door saloon (or sedan)

The engine sounds awful, no sport whatsoevah, they should change the manifold and exhaust pipes.

The manifold won't do anything, it's all in the silencers and the pipes. There are loads of after-market systems available but Jaguar design the exhaust sound for the majority of customers' tastes.

Not all jap cars like to floored, and not all euro cars are like to floored either. So in summary, euro cars are like to floored aswell as jap cars.

Every car has problems, of course. But European engines are very reliable. If it is from Germany... On the other hand, Jaugar's engines are from Ford USA, so... (The European Ford Company is in Germany)

These Jaguars DO NOT have Ford engines. It's the AJ27 engine in this car and was designed at Jaguar's engineering site at Whitley, Coventry, UK. headed up Dave Schupack. The engine is build in Bridgend, Wales, UK at Ford's engine plant, which is where many get confused.

Early problem were nickisil cylinder liners that wore prematurely (high sulphur corrosion; sorted since about '99) and timing chain tensioners (need to update to metal ones).
