I just finished airborne school, and there were a few of rangers, force recon, sf, and PJ's there, and of them the PJ's were easily the most fit. They could run farther and faster then anyone else in my company and joke around while doing it.
this guys are useless, only reason why they exist is because airforce didnt want to get left behind and needed their own special forces, nothing they do that seals, recon, rangers, delta cant do 100 times better
@wolverine223 Where? Back in the Vietnam era rescue missions? In Afghanistan or Iraq witnessing each of the rescue missions taking place? It's more than obvious you have no idea of what you're talking about. I pity you.
hahha lmao, lets just say i served both OIF and OEF, and i can tell you, and gurantee you despite what your recruiter has told u, PJs or CCT, are not traditional direct action door kickers, they are awsome medics, combat controllers, and search and rescue specialist for down pilots and soldiers, but not door kickers by any means, thats not what they train for or are tasked with end of story man, theirs nothign wrong with that
@wolverine223 I never said they were 'door kickers', and I know that's not what they're meant to be. They're great at what their trained to do. To compare them to SEALS, Rangers, etc (as is always done on every one of these videos, as you have done) is needless.
I really want to go into combat diving, I just don't know enough about it. I'd prefer to be in either the Navy or the Air Force. Can you send me some info?
Gordanalways, you put the radio in a dry bag along with other essential equipment, put the bag in a ruck, dip test the ruck to make sure that it is neutrally buoyant, then put the ruck on your back for closed circuit, or put the loops through the twin 80 manifold if it you are diving open circuit. Also PJs are doing a lot of search dives, say if someone drowns and you need to recover their body. Hope that this has helped enlighten you.
I still don't know why a CCT (who specializes in dropping ordinance) needs to be combat diver trained. Its seems to me like a typical bureaucratic "I want to do that too" jealously type decision.
Let combat divers be combat divers. Let AFSOF do what AFSOF does.
All it is is a means of getting to their job so they can work. What about when they're attached to some SF or SEAL team and they decide the best way to get to their objective is by water?
Tell me how a CCT is going to put his Draeger on and then put a PRC-177 radio on over that. Or with a closed or open circuit scuba tank?
I do not understand why a PJ needs to be under water either. If they are getting a pilot, they should be dropped off in a helicopter directly near the pilot and then swim directly to him then be hoisted back into the chopper.
The reason our Special Tactics Airmen need to be qualified as Combat Divers is because they are assinged to SEAL and Ranger teams. If a SEAL team chooses to go via SCUBA, then our guys are expected to go in the same way. The mission doesn't change on the means of transportation
@AirCommandos i wanna be a PJ but im deathly afraid of drowning or anything like that i saw that one of the schools is combat diver school i was just wondering what PJ's do involving the water please reply thanks
What a simple world you live in Gordon. I guess if Im tasked to do a body recovery I'll just hold my breath. Please understand what you are commenting about so you can save me the trouble of negating any posts you make.
For your CCT comment, its s PRC-117 and there are such things as waterproof bags.
So just because I have an opposing view, makes it stupid? Please, go dig a hole. Half of my posts were questions, questions you could have answered or left alone. You didnt have to insult me. I didnt insult AFSOC or you.
Your opposing views, in this instance are not stupid, they are just wrong. I don't mind questions about the careerfield. But to use the simple scenario you suggested as a reason PJs don't need to be dive certified shows your ignorance on the matter. I don't take lightly to posts that undermine the careerfield. There was no insult. I wanted to leave the impression that rescue is far more complicated than you might have implied.
Maybe it is far more complicated than I implied. How was I supposed to know? Shouldnt someone with the knowledge to teach, teach the ignorant. I think so.
What is the training "pipeline" for a man undergoing pararescue training? Are PJs sometimes called to substitute in missions usually tasked to other special operations forces? (i.e. Raids, ambushes, reconnaissance, foreign internal defense, etc)
PJ's primary mission is to recover/ rescue downed pilots or other servicemembers or civilians. Ocassionaly this may require them to go into a "hot LZ" so they are required to learn tactics that they can use to fight their way to a casualty. Raids, ambushes, recon and f.i.d. are missions they are not concerned with......some of the tactics that are associated with those missions may be required to complete their mission.
@Gordonalways1 they don't just get downed pilots....they're rescue divers. and cct guys are attached to green beret units and navy seal units...so yea...it might be a little helpful to learn how to dive.
@Gordonalways1 Pj are as close to SEALS as you can get and yes they do assist many special forces unit as in need bases. not only do they save lifes but the also carry other missions that has nothing to do with saving lives.
I just don't get why the Us armed forces can't just train seals in air traffic control but oh well
