  • Hard to believe that ten years have passers since I recorded this!

  • What a gentleman. I feel honored to have been alive whilst he was commentating. He was a bigger part of F1 than any driver or team for me.

  • 2 dislikes, nice try Ledgard

  • the voice of f1 now and forever

  • Legend

  • On his last phrases,he almost cried. And i also got close to crying too.

  • He made his mistakes yes; but Jesus, you won't get a more dedicated commentator in any sport.

    A great man!

  • GOD I LOVE MURRAY! WHAT A COMPLETE LEGEND! BRINGS A LUMP TO YOUR THROAT DOESN'T IT...

  • Probably the best commentating team of all-time.

  • Murray Walker is 88 years old!

  • @mclarenguy22 He turned 88 the day I turned 18

  • Sir Murray Walker - got a ring to it!

  • Murray will be remembered by British motor racing fans long after most of the drivers have been forgotten.

The man is a living legend.

  • they named some mints after him.

  • that was the day i stopped watching F1, Walker could make the most boring race sound like it was the best ever. Man does F1 need him now

  • @HarryTaylor91 It's strange, I think otherwise. For me, he could be remarkably bad as a narrator, but precisely one of the best, if not the best commentator. Nice vid, thumbs up. =)

  • best sports commentator ever .

  • Murray Walker. The best for ever. Even better than his slower cousin Johnny Walker.

  • Murray Walker and Martin Brundle Awesome

  • We miss murray.

  • They ought to name a race track after Murray or at least a corner.

  • Sky will throw shedloads of money into its F1 coverage, but I won't be watching. The easiest - and cheapest - option would be to port the current BBC crew over to Sky and share the commentary. I really, really hope that doesn't happen. The Beeb's F1 coverage is superb... and it'd be great if they could persuade Murray to commentate on the last race of this year's season. Don't think he'd need a helluva lot of persuading!

  • what a legend

  • @LukeMLBarry Amen, no ego, no bull shit, no crap. just a lover of the sport. I truly hope another comes along ( without an I pad)

  • The one reason you would dislike this is because you wish it never happened

  • I'd love to meet the [1] guy who voted AGAINST this YouTube video. Honestly, what is there not to like about Murray, his "isms" and yyyyears of loyal F1 service.

  • @LeiKaEr Well said sir

  • im so honored to say i was at his last grand prix! sure i couldnt hear it live but i watched and listened to it when i got back to ireland from the race! love love love murray

  • I miss Murray, but the BBC team is absolutely fantastic at the moment, Legard & Allen were f@cking awful.

  • @schpongled They're alright but listening to ex pats droning on about tyre temperatures isn't quite the same as this roaring semihysterical legend working him self and the audience up into a frenzy. be along time before we get another one as good i believe

  • @schpongled They realy are but its a shame their time is almost up in the UK seeing as F1 is moving to Sky Sports next season except for the Monaco GP, the British GP and the last race of the season. I reakon they just show both on the BBC and Sky at the same time. Mind Brundle and Coultard could both move to Sky to carry on commentating. The BBC team at the moment is better than any ITV had excluding when Murray was involved. Hope Sky can continue the good form

  • Murray Walker LEGEND. Others try but in the end there is Only ONE Voice for F1. Now Give him a knighthood.

  • I miss Murray, but DC and Martin and DC are a great partnership too

  • @kathrynashworth1 is legard gone?

  • @dukeofstradone yeah, thank the lord

  • @dukeofstradone legard was worse than allen

  • Murray Walker. Probably the best - and certainly the most loved - sport commentator the world is ever likely to see.

  • Has any commentator, in any sport, been as much loved as Murray? Come on Murray, one last hurrah at this year's British GP... please?

  • Ah, I remember that day all too well, It was very sad to see that great man leave a sport which i love so much, and commentary by a legend such as Murray Walker, knowing full well that it was never going to be the same without him. All those great years, races and legendary drivers he introduced to us all through the BBC, cheers Murray...may you NEVER be forgotten

  • Murry is Number1 commentator, with his many catchphases, jonation legards alright but he just says the same thing every qualifing and race session, "Vettel/Webber/Hamilton is on a charge now", cmon think of sumthing else to say, and at race starts he speaks faster then his brain will allow him to & he sounds like an idiot,

  • i just wish murray could replease jonathan legard please bbc plase

  • This has to be the saddest moment F1 has ever seen.

    Miss you Murray!

  • He should definitely be a guest commentator each year at the Brit GP.

  • Yes I still love F1 but it just isn't the same without Murray.

  • Murray is the ultimate commentator for F1, he knows his stuff, we LOVE his mistakes & his enthusiasm is boundless. PLEASE Murray, just do Silverstone every year for BBC

  • i like to think he hits mansell on the head on purpose

  • Greatest Commentator Ever!

  • I wish he could come back for some of the European races close to the UK, or maybe just the UK race (as he is getting on, and travelling all the time was getting too much). He's such a fantastic, funny guy - and a great commentator.

  • what does he smoke reefer out of that microphone or what?

  • Murray was the best. he could make a boring race a thrilling race.

  • I'm with you, CBTrekker. Murray has to be the greatest and best-loved commentator of all time. Caught him commentating on F1 a couple of years ago on BBC 5Live as a one-off and it sent shivers of joy down my spine.

  • What a legend

  • I'm brazilian and I used to watch some BBC F1 clips during the late

80's and early 90's (Mansell, Hill, Prost, Piquet and Senna were

drivers...) and M. Walker was always a part of the show. He was

incredible, high spirited and with a good sarcastic humor.

    Brilliant.

  • Please come back and replace the awful Jonathan Legard!

  • schumacher came back....murray can come back!

  • Has it really been so long? Murray Walker was a class act, gave me a lot of laughs over the years, and was one half of the best F1 commentary partenership with Brundle imo...

  • Miss your Murray moments.

    God speed

  • he may not be the most famous person in the world but his autobiography is one of the best books i have ever read

  • Legend

  • was this after 9/11 or something? cos murray said "to lift the spirits of america", wondering if it was after that

  • @Natty7478 Yes, his final race was the US GP 2001, the 2nd race after 9/11.

  • Ahahahahahahahahaha!! "OOOOO I'M SORRY!!"

  • Absolute legend.

  • Brundle and Walker are the best F1 commentators ever

  • why did he stop?

  • @Mackan62 Because sadly we all have to retire some time. I do however miss Murray's commentary immensely . Ledgard is abysmal.

  • @Droidparty Ye thats true.

  • johnathan ledgard has to be the worst f1 comentator ever, he is constantly gettin drivers within the same team mixed up, i think hes forgot about jaime algesuari totally as whenever he is in some action ledgard seems to think its buemi, he does this with just about every1 that isnt in a big team

  • this is one man who i hope never dies, even if that would be slightly creepy...

  • Bring him back and get rid of the numpty we have now.

  • marray 'legend' walker

  • What a great, knowlegeable man, F1 commentary hasn't been as great, exciting and entertaining since the Brundle / Walker duo.

I hope he does a guest appearence one day, e.g. at the British GP or something.

At least he went out on a high, still going good.

  • i remember having a tear in my eye when i watched this. long live murray

  • absolutely love that guy

  • Legend in F1

  • cant think of f1 with out murray

  • What a top bloke

  • great guy 110% comitment

  • no i know thati ment when hill was racing still they would mess around doinf jokes on each other

  • i miss damon and murry they were class act together ^.^

  • thats martin brundle not damon...

  • The end of F1...

  • Funny how he used to get excited about the smallest thing at completely inappropriate times, but when Joss Versteppen's car burst into flames refuelling (when he was with Bennetton I believe), old Murray was as cool as a cucumber. I always remember that!

  • Surely now is the time for "arise, Sir Murray"

  • Couldn't agree more danb1990 & Escosia08... should've happened a long time ago

  • What a legend! Murry you were the best the ever was or ever will be, pleasue to of listened to you!

  • Unless I'm very much mistaken, Muddly Talker is the greatest commentator ever for any form of sport. He was the voice of F1. The current team just do not have his depth of enthusiasm, and that is what is so sadly missed.

  • SIR Murray Walker!

    Knight him now!

  • Whenever there was a boring race Murray would make it better

  • well this season has been good but since the mid 90's it's been crap

  • passing is when one car goes around the other car to take it's position, whether for the lead, or any other place. And let's face it, Nascar is boring "a heck of a lot!" Redneck driving in circles? whats that...?

  • passing is when one car goes around the other car to take it's position, whether for the lead, or any other place. And let's face it, Nascar is boring "a heck of a lot!" Redneck driving in circles? whats that...?

  • Exciting and entertaining as well as being a great spectator sport to go watch being able to see the cars all the way around the track. As opposed to only being able to see the turn or straight that you happen to be on.

  • Murray Walker was / is a national institution!

You can still hear his views on current F1 at his blog over on the BBC website.

  • he looked pretty gutted ther wat a legend

  • ii still follow f1. but its just not the same without him is it.

  • The announcers that British TV has now is nothing compared to what Murray has done in F1 for so long...he was entertaining and he made it fun!

  • i tell u wat, he looks damn healthy for an 85 year old...

  • @chicouk he had 85 year old on 2001?

  • @chicouk Muppet. That was recorded 10 years ago.

Why does every ignorant twat think everything they see on YouTube was recorded today?

  • @TriGGlety1 Well he could always have meant actually at the time he saw it? I mean for a start you've made the same mistake yourself by treating his comment like it was written the day you read it, it was only 8 years ago at the time so you can hardly have a go for that. Don't really think it warranted calling him a muppet :-D

  • One of the most passionate announcers of all time...class act!

  • I wish he still commentated...

  • Why did he stop?

  • possibly because he was turning 80?? I think he's earned his retirement

  • I wish the BBC would allow him to commentate on just one race this year, just for old times sake. It would be lovely to have him cover the British Grand Prix..

  • he is doing a couple of races becausew he is part of the commentating team if you look a the bbc website

  • @CBTrekker

Is there a Facebook protest to have Murray back for the British GP ??

There damn well should be !!!

  • @CBTrekker Maybe he just doesn't want to do it? It's not a matter of the BBC "allowing" him to do it.

  • Every year he comes to Adelaide to comentate the Clipsal 500, allthough not as energetic as he once was still a delight to hear.

  • why had Murray Walker not completed the 2001 season? I had stayed until the end of the season and then retired.

  • I also miss Murray, althought I think James Allen isn´t that bad how some people say, Murray is certainly a different league.

  • I miss Murray!

  • Well I still do enjoy Grand Prix Racing but it just isn't the same. Your passion was so infectious I doubt I could have become the fanatic I am without listening to you during my formative years and all the way up to 2001. By then I was well and trully hooked. Without a shadow of a doubt the best commentator, in anything, ever. How so many of us around the world miss you. From where I come from (Australia) we adored you.

  • Never been the same without u Murray!!! Come back please, u were funny, right, wrong but u made F1 for me! James Allen, purleaase....get rid & bring our Murray back, miss u, F1 does too xxx
