man..the more i look at Serena i can't help but think Frankenfurter's look was based on her's (haaa!!) (ps..i never knew she had a small tear on the left side of her face near her eye...)
loved it when she played her..mmm very sexy.. she was hot . black hair,make-up..
Oh yeah since i was kid back then ..
oh mr queer himself ..knew something was wrong with this darrin ..the actor that played darrin since the first actor that played him got sick.
this darrin was to harsh on the character Samantha like his true self being the queer he was in real life.played himself than the character darrin was to be played ..
hated this darrin character of 69 to 72... with passion
This was always one of my fav. I always loved any time Elizabeth Mongomery sang and when she played Serena. I also have to admit that when I little I didn't realize how racy Blowin in the wind was. Now that I am an adult revisiting this video. I'm taking a lot of joy hearing this song with new eyes, so to speak. thanks and God Bless.
@TheGuillermo519 Both played Darren well, but I preferred Sargents, he was more agitated by all the withcery and was able to show it better, York's version was more laid back, guess he got used to all the magic happening
I remember this from when it first aired. i've thought about it over the years because i really enjoyed it. Now after X amount of years it got to see and hear it again. Thank you.!!!!!
I just watch on DVR on TVLand, and they cut out the entire middle of the song. They only played the first and last choruses. This was the best part of an otherwise lame episode. Liz was fierce!
@PhoenixBird50 No, not really... I'm not homophobic... why do you think I am? If I say a blond person is blond (how dare I), a black person is black, or a Jewish person is Jewish, are those intrinsically bad?
@shmuli9 I just don't think there's any need to point it out. Sexual orientation is not the same as race or hair colour or religion, as well you know. There were two Darrins, yes and one of them did happen to be gay but did anyone mention that Dick York was straight? For example, nobody has said "oh I loved the straight Darrin best". They focus on the fact that the Darrin they didn't like so much was gay. I just don't think there's any need to do that, in the 21st century. He had a name.
@PhoenixBird50 Actually, "as well I don't know". Thank goodness you're here to educate me, though. And actually it IS at the least the same as religion (one DEFINITELY chooses that; no one is Catholic or Methodist or Buddhist whether he or she wants to be or not)...
@shmuli9 oh yes what a blessing I'm here! Phew, what would you do otherwise? No, it isn't the same. I don't understand why you're saying one can choose one's own religion - that's sometimes not true. Do you mean that one can choose one's own sexuality? The point I intended to make was that there was no need to point out that the actor was gay. No-one has pointed out that the other actors weren't. So why bring attention to the fact that Dick Sargent was? He had a name. No need to use adjectives.
@PhoenixBird50 Did I specifcally do that? If so, I certainly don't remember, though with literally pages and pages of postings (what, do people post on here every minute?), how can I tell (silly me, I didn't save a file on my PC of what I DID post, apparently at least several weeks ago)... It's not usually right to identify people only by certain features ("a black man bought a pie"), if it is either ludicrous ("a black person asked how much a tanning session cost") [CONT.]
@shmuli9 Specifically do what? Use an adjective? Why yes, you did. (Perhaps you should be careful what you are posting if you can't remember. Three months ago, it's still on here.) As for the other parts of your message, even with a University degree in English, I have to admit total defeat. Non comprehendez. You and I may now have to agree to disagree because I can never come to terms with saying 'that black guy', 'the gay girl', 'the catholic woman' -so I'll go my way, and you go yours.Goodbye
@PhoenixBird50 or a useful identifier ("you want to talk to the BLOND Chris who was at the party"), it makes sense. Same with people who are quite specifically activists, like people who are the the King of the LA Pride Parade... (In other words, it wasn't even close to 'outing', any more than revealing that Madonna is a woman, or the sky is blue.)
I used to fall out laughing whenever Serena would come to "Visit". She always drove poor Samantha up the wall but she always managed to "forgive" her. They were as close to being "Twins" to not being "Twins".
There are some reports, rumors that Dick York had fallen off the roof awhile wearing a pig head on the show, this is speculated this had worsen his back injury.
What hurt Bewitched is the executives should have announced Dick York was seriously ill would not be back this is reason for his replacement with Dick Sergent., but they did not do this. Dick Sergent was originally asked to play part of Darrin in 1962, but had a movie contract and could not do it.
Dick York was very sick, in pain from a back injury, I do not know if it was cause by the show. He was addicted to pain medicines, the last episode he was on, he had passed out from the pain and medicines, he was rushed to the hospital believing he had died on the set.
Agnes Moorhead was the most angry of the change of Dick York to Dick Sergeant, she refused to do scenes with Dick, no longer than fifteen minutes a shoot.
Trivia: Elizabeth and Agnes wanted to wait until Dick York was well. The executes of the show then Elizabeth's husband could not wait, hired Dick Sergent, his presents cause the show to loose ratings that the show canceled in 1972.
One of the greatest shows to ever grace the small screen. Always great when cousin Serena made the scene. Blonde, Brunette, whatever, Elizabeth Montgomery was a timeless beauty and a great talent.
I also watched this episode on TV Land. I hadn't seen this episode in quite awhile and was looking forward to seeing it and I couldn't believe it when the middle was cut out. TV Land edits all of the show's.
:: Thanks for the heads-up on this, Mr Bruce, and thank YOU, andreaariasm, for uploading this bewitched gem. Man, the bass is outreal! What a great little ditty. Funnily enough, Serena's part was always creditted as being played by a Pandora Spocks, obviously a take-off on Pandora's box. Instant Facebook re-post ~ (•8-D
When did Bewitched come on Hallmark? I have watched that channel since we had cable TV. I can even remember when it was Odessy. Serena is my favotite character after Samantha and Darrin #1. You can HAVE Dick Sargent
@Sheri451 Not sure when Bewitched was on Hallmark. When it was Odyssey it was a great channel with shows like The Muppet Show, My Three Sons, The Partridge Family and I Dream of Jeannie. Now it sucks like every other channel does. Thankfully all eight seasons of Bewitched are on dvd so we can watch them complete whenever we want. I agree with you on Dick Sargent. He just seemed so lame and dry compared to Dick York. The show really took a drop when Dick York became to ill to continue work.
Interesting sidenote: In 1995 when Quentin Tarrantino hosted SNL, he performed this song in his monologue, citing that it was his personal favorite moment in Television history...To this day, I still don't know if it was just a bit the SNL Writers did or if he was serious about it, but more power to him I suppose.
Don't you just love the name Elizabeth Montgomery used for "Betwitched" as "Serena"? "Pandora Spocks." LOL. This was great to see again. She was wonderful in this and every role she did. RIP beautiful, Elizabeth. We miss you.
Good video! I love Bewitched, Samantha & everything like that (except the step mother of the poor husband...). Ok, and I miss the good old times. See you, congratulations for your channel, pretty good!
Does anyone ( a real fan) remember what episode it was where the (2nd Gladys Kravitz)
redhead Mrs Kravitz saw a ships harbor at the Stephen's place when she looked out her window? I know it's a long shot , but, if your a die hard fan , you might know ...
Yes... It was called "Allergic to Macedonian Dodo Birds". Endora lost her powers and Clara got them.... and to celebrate her newfound powers, she decided to go sailing... down Morning Glory Circle!

Elizabeth Montgomery was so great,we never think of her as Serena,we always somehow think its another actress,She was as great a comediene as the best of them.God love you Liz,and all in the show .
I loved it when Elizabeth Montgomery would play Serena. She was so sexy as Serena. It was funny when Serena would flirt with Larry Tate. For instance, Larry would say something to Serena when she acted up like "I just want to put you over my knee and give you a spanking." And Serena would look into Tate's eyes real seductively and say something like, "Your place or mine cottonball head." Lol, Tate would suddenly get all nervous and his eyes would begin to dart. Great stuff!
"Durwood" was such an idiot and stick in the mud. Its a wonder a hot chick like Samantha stayed with him for all those years! He could have lived in the lap of luxury, live in a castle, be on vacation 24/7 and drive a Ferrari but he chose to live in suburbia, drive a Chevy Impala and work everyday-what a moron! Serena is so hot in that mini-skirt, too and he hates her singing-how dumb!
I remember this from my childhood. Thanks for sharing this scene. Flybreath, I agree with you completely. Darren was a killjoy. This Darren character used to aggravate me so much, I wished he was taken out of the show so that the witch characters could develop more; they were the cool ones. Hard to believe how short and fly away dresses used to be back then. One good gust of wind and a lady was showing her crotch to the crowd.
yeah made my day too lol did you see sam (LIZ) watching herself(Serena) and she did the shame shame sign? so funny!! Daren being sarcastic at the end too
@acetennis0324 don't be silly! Sexy for 'those times' - it's only the sixties! I was a teenager then and I can tell you we did some pretty sexy stuff.
It wasn't a bad song, it was always good for a laugh or two.
And, I've been looking for this clip for years since I was a little guy in the early 70's and I give 2 great big thumbs up to Andreaariasm for posting it. Cheers! :-)
No, Elizabeth Montgomery played "Both" Serena & Samantha, except that I don't think they paid Actors for doing more than "One" Part so the created the name Pandora Spocks, but if you listen to the Name it's supposed to be a parody of "Pandora's Box!". I was confused at the time myself when I saw the credits when I was a kid, but my cousin explained it to me. Hope this helps.
Dick York left the show due severe back pain and addicted to pain medicines. Elizabeth wanted to wait until he got better before the new season started, she was shocked that producers did not wait until he was well, hired Dick Sargent, although they had friends for years it was a sudden change to the TV series. I agree with all Dick Sargent just sounded like an angry man then her loving husband.
who cares about that? The thing about Dick Sargent was that his version of Darrin was terrible, always angry & brooding, he never really acted as if he loved her....not to mention that Dick York was simply a better actor!
When I was little, I never realised that Liz M played both parts, the make-up job on Liz as Serena was so radically different than on her as Sam that I thought they were different actresses....not to mention that Serena was at least 40% hotter than Sam!
Great! I'm sure Elizabeth Montgomery had a fun time letting her alter ego run with defining the Serena character. She nails this song. And those legs!!!
YES!!! She (Eliz Montgomery) can't really sing so well, but she did her alter-ego cousin perfectly (similar to Barbara Edens' sister on Jeannie). Love it.
I always loved Serena, a bit flakey but Sam was boring. Liz was a talented actress. I wonder who the stand in was. Pandora Spocks was suposed to be a fake name. LiZ had a decent voice too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i HATED the serena episodes with a passion. just as when Bewitched was on its network run. and as now - when ever serena is on - the POWER on the TV goes OFF and i go lay some pipe with the wife.
I agree with mikelovescher Darrin is a complete idiot at times and big stick in the mud! He is married to one of the most beautiful woman who ever was on TV and doesn't appreciate what she could do for him. He drives a Chevy Impala and lives in
Elizabeth Montgomery used to go out with her husband dressed in her Serena makeup. They had hot sex afterwards.
I still think Endora was hotter.

@acetennis0324 don't be silly! Sexy for 'those times' - it's only the sixties! I was a teenager then and I can tell you we did some pretty sexy stuff.

Serena Rocks! I always liked her better than Samantha.

It wasn't a bad song, it was always good for a laugh or two.
And, I've been looking for this clip for years since I was a little guy in the early 70's and I give 2 great big thumbs up to Andreaariasm for posting it. Cheers! :-)
Shawnster65 2 years ago
No, Elizabeth Montgomery played "Both" Serena & Samantha, except that I don't think they paid Actors for doing more than "One" Part so the created the name Pandora Spocks, but if you listen to the Name it's supposed to be a parody of "Pandora's Box!". I was confused at the time myself when I saw the credits when I was a kid, but my cousin explained it to me. Hope this helps.

thats Eliz.Mongomery's fake name for Serina ......its her playing both parts..lol

When Dick York was replaced by Dick Sargent the ratings dropped 13 places.
caprice6 2 years ago
Dick York left the show due severe back pain and addicted to pain medicines. Elizabeth wanted to wait until he got better before the new season started, she was shocked that producers did not wait until he was well, hired Dick Sargent, although they had friends for years it was a sudden change to the TV series. I agree with all Dick Sargent just sounded like an angry man then her loving husband.
caprice6 2 years ago
who cares about that? The thing about Dick Sargent was that his version of Darrin was terrible, always angry & brooding, he never really acted as if he loved her....not to mention that Dick York was simply a better actor!
Shoknifeman 2 years ago 2
When I was little, I never realised that Liz M played both parts, the make-up job on Liz as Serena was so radically different than on her as Sam that I thought they were different actresses....not to mention that Serena was at least 40% hotter than Sam!
Shoknifeman 2 years ago
I couldnt stand the 2nd Darrin, I wont watch any of the reruns without Dick York (the 1rst Darrin)

HOT LEGS!!!

Love it.

@jph0917 So what if he was gay? What does that have to do with anything? Why does everyone keep going on about that??? Homophobes.

this darrin was gay in his real life.

I loved when Serina came onto the scene..Ms. Montgomery did a good job playing that character.....I too preferred Dick York's Darrin

Most of the Serena episodes were pretty good. I much prefer Dick York's version of Darrin. His expressions and facial contortions were too good.

I always loved Serena, a bit flakey but Sam was boring. Liz was a talented actress. I wonder who the stand in was. Pandora Spocks was suposed to be a fake name. LiZ had a decent voice too.

i HATED the serena episodes with a passion. just as when Bewitched was on its network run. and as now - when ever serena is on - the POWER on the TV goes OFF and i go lay some pipe with the wife.

Lucky for your wife, Serena wasn't on that much!!

I agree with mikelovescher Darrin is a complete idiot at times and big stick in the mud! He is married to one of the most beautiful woman who ever was on TV and doesn't appreciate what she could do for him. He drives a Chevy Impala and lives in
