umm, never did McArthur say people were saved apart from Christ, nor did he say go beyond the Scriptures, but that men are responsible of the knowledge of God to follow Him, the knowledge that is presented to them by nature as evidence of an Creator and so on. Also, Mcarthur's teachings of the knowing God as opposed to knowing of Him is also Biblical. I can know of a person, but that's different than having a relationship with them.
Read Charismatic Chaos and see if you still think that MacArthur is a mystic. No offense but this video really is an asinine waste of time. Perhaps you should learn before you teach.
Andrew, I've watched three of your videos today. The final few minutes of this video are a very chilling testimony to a serious sin that you've fallen into - spiritual pride. McArthur - in the passage that you quote - tells people to seek the truth in the Word of God. You then put words into McArthur's mouth in your little , 'no, no, no speech. Very sad.
I'm afraid I'll have to agree. Andrew, your spiritual pride has led you to believe that you alone have received the Holy Spirit's guidance and that all of these other teachers simply aren't Calvinist enough (which I am beginning to think is Fatalism to you). Please repent, because you are commanded to repent in order to be saved (Acts 2:38).
Wow! Macarthur by atleast 1:18 had not said that men can be saved apart from the gospel.
Read the Bible. There is mention of how Jesus will look in the book of life or knowledge(I appologize! I don't remember and know everything, I'm not God afterall.) to take account of one's actions. Also it is written that there will be or are believers in hell. And why is that? It's because of their actions and not whether or not they went to God through Jesus at any point. Living isn't dying so don't stop.
Is this a joke? Has this guy ever read the Bible before? Why spew things out of your mouth if you dont know what you are talking about. True taking part of a sermon is easy to rip on. I can take scripture and twist it the same way Satan does. I could show with a quick scripture the Bible teaches reincarnation. When Jesus tells Nicodemus he must be born again. Well with stopping and no going further on it looks like reincarnation is supported by the Bible but we know it is not. God Bless.
Um, first part of video: Romans 1 (read it). "Men are saved apart from the gospel, says MacArthur." I find this lowkey videos so funny. He didn't say that. God can break through and reveal Jesus Christ to people whose consciences He has softened. MacArthur would never say someone may be saved outside of the gospel of Christ. Ask him (I attend his church). As for "emotions", repentance must be from the heart (got a Bible?). He is right again (i.e. MacArthur, not you). You need less free time, sir.
oh please. You know what he means. Goodness, be gracious as Christ has been gracious to you, or wait, in Andrew's eyes that would be a works-based salvation...-_-
Wow! You obviously have no idea what John MacArthur is saying. He's obviously speaking about the knowledge that people suppress. He never said that THAT saves people. He says that sometimes God gets through! God opens their eyes and hearts through regeneration, and they heed the gospel. Duh! Move on!
Macarthur wrote a book call The Truth War. You need to read it. If your going to slander great men of God, atleast look up what he really teaches and stop playing robot 30 sec. sound bites. Go After Rob Bell or something if you want to hear a mystic.
MacArthur... you have to question a man who has his own signature version of the Bible for sale and who also claims full spectrum victory in the "truth war". MacArthur is wrong about quite a lot of things... despite what his sycophants think.
It takes little searching to find LAW TRASHING/GOD HATING heretics.
So many fundies are activists for the displaying of the 10 commandments and yet trash 1 of them with their theology. >>>FOOLS!!! They do this because they are sons of satan or daughters of the devil. Their church time is worthless...unless they repent
Johb MacArthur preachs for near 30 minutes on radio and more in his church for a reason to give forth the whole word of God you do an injustice to God and all with your 15 to 30 second sound bites taken out of context..what is your testimony?
this is either ignorance or totally twisted! John Mac Arthur does not teach what this man Bain? is teaching
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction.
To Me it looks like you are just trying to rip apart John MacArthur. you should get clips of Pastor MacArthur saying the stuff you are quoting so you can have REAL proof that that is what he is saying and Meaning.
Andrew, you should seriously heed the comments below from people who know and have read MacArthur. I suggest you seriously research your material prior to making such a farfetched assumption. If you were to know anything about MacArthur, you would know that he is not a mystic at all. Please, for the sake of people's time, review what you say before you say it. I think you have good arguments and what you say is for the most part truth, except the fact that they apply to MacArthur.
How can Macarthur be a mystic he does not even believe in spiritual gifts. If anything he is to rational. You need to know more theology and do some research mate.
This Guy just misquotes and distorts what people say. He is the master of hearing what he wants. He is a deceiver and a liar. I tried to talk to him and he cannot even follow an argument. He twists and contorts the Word of God. Through eisegesis he shows his points. Hes a 1 verse cherry picker...
well now you have "exposed" the 'false teachers' R C Sproul, John Macarthur, John Piper, and Van Til, Spurgeon, I suggest some more 'heretics' - D A Carson, John Calvin, Augustine, Jonathan Edwards, Martin Luther, Vos, Michael Horton; seriously you are a low 20's something joke thinking yourself above you ought - Please study at a seminary, actually learn theology then pull out the pen to expose heretics
Andrew, quick question about the video. The very first statement is that Macarthur believes unbelievers will be saved by following their own hearts. But then the next screen doesn't say that. He simply says that even unbelievers cant say they didnt have proof of God. Its all around them! Help me here, Andrew. WHat quote from macarthur says he believes unbeleivers will be saved? I know he's a strong Chrsitian so I dont believe this is true.
To draw on one component of one sermon and snippets of a book is to make yourself someone who "has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth." We're all very impressed with your ability to misrepresent people's views. But instead of slandering great men of God, you might actually listen to what they say in its entirety.
Andrew, I really do not like what you are doing. John is NOT a mystic and I believe you know it!!! You are taking snipets of sermons taken out of context and slandering and misrepresenting great bible teachers. Do you REALLY think he believes what you are accusing him of believing?
I get very tired of people who cherry pick snippets of great theologians' sermons and draw extreme conclusions from them. If you listened to even a little more of John MacArthur, you would know that he does not believe that anybody who "believes in God" has been saved. This is a man who has devoted himself to the teaching of scripture.
You are just slandering at this point, being that your argument is terrible. MacArthur is obviously trying to make the point that doctrinal knowledge of God is meant to lead to personal communion with God. Is our relationship with God not meant to effect the whole person? Or is it just intellectual? Maybe you should stop using short excerpts and twisting what these men are saying.
I dont understand the Attacking of these Godly men. I saw some one said to email John Macarthur and ask him this question. I would agree. If you cant get ahold of him via email. Try Phil Johnson at "teampyro (dot) blogspot (dot) com".
Wow. Watching this video just made me think. First off some of your quotes dont even support your thesis. In fact some of them do the opposite. Some of them are taken out of context and some of them are twisted. And yes some of them are John Macarthur sticking his foot in his mouth. HE IS HUMAN.
Andrew, I've read MacArthur's book, "The Gospel according to Jesus" I believed before reading it and after reading it that it spoak the truth concerning the issue of Lordship salvation and the fact that there is no other salvation. Also, I'm not familiar with a couple of the sermons that Dr. MacArthur gave that you referenced but I am familar with some.
That being said, I think if you listen to what he was saying in the entire context of the sermon you might have a better understanding of the point he was trying to make.
My question for you is, "If we believe what Calvin has said concerning the doctrine of election, would it be possible for some of the elect to have never come incontact with the gospel of Christ but ultimatelately still inherit eternal life."
Does God only act within the confinds of the scripture (Special revelation)or can He also act out side of scripture (general revelation)? I believe that God is only confined by that which is in His nature and holy atributes, but within that all is far game. I too believe in what Calvin has said but if you take him too far you might rearange your priorities (Commandment 2).
To hollandmin: For those that God has chosen - He will make things to happen that they (in the least) hear the message that Jesus has done all the work...
nathaniel, I love to hear the gospel truth. That's right..the Elect of God will hear the message and WILL be saved, only by His awesome grace, which we do not deserve. And works will be a natural part of True saving faith. Not a way to earn it! Our righteousness is like filthy rags to the Lord.
I have heard enough of John MacArthurs double talk to know he is showing partiality in handling of the gospel, and I certainly did NOT need Andrew McBain to convict me of that. MacArthur has made so many contradictory statements opposing his own testimony, such as his "sonship of Christ" debacle and his statements on Christs blood not to mention his disaster defending humanistic psychology. Be careful who you defend in these apostate days.
I understand your concern, and I will not defend all that MacArthur says. Who is it that you find closer to the gospel teachings if not John MacArthur?
I'd have to say that I agree whole-heartedly with Calvin's work; not that I cling to thoelogians, but Calvin describes the COMPLETE sovereignty of God! He expounds the Biblical truth that describes our Creator. Do not however be lured into aligning yourself with either Piper OR MacArthur or whoever.
If Paul was around today - he might begin to despair. Instead let's get stuck into the gospel writers and find out who Jesus really is! And what He meant by the fact that to have life, we must first lose it!
Just so I'm understanding you, there is no one in the present day that you tend to listen to, read or watch as it were, who might possibly have some good insights other than yourself?
hollandmin: No, no. I have elders of course; and I readily submit to their guidance for my spiritual growth and for family/marriage concerns. I also tend to stick to Tyndales and BSTs in terms of studies...but please know that I am NOT a theologian...just a recipient of God's AWESOME GRACE!...and His Holy Spirit who guides His elect into all truth and exposes our sinful habits, so that we might be sanctified for His glory! HAHAHA! Isn't that wonderful?!
Just looked through your favourite videos: it seems you are interested in the paranormal/parapsychology...and a little bit about Mormonism. Interesting that Mormons (generally) think that they earn (work for) grace. But the Biblical message is that His elect work IN RESPONSE TO grace! I'd love for you to join me at my blog - where I discuss mental health issues, parapsychology and EVEN mormonism!
I have lisen to John Mac Arthur 20+ years and he does not teah what you are trying to put in his mouth when you
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction.
"What kind of things do and do not prove the genuineness of saving faith?"
John is talking as all good teachers do about Growth
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction.
I am so sorry that this guy cannot understand what is being said. MacArthur has on numerous occations denounced mysticism, and if anyone LISTENS and UNDERSTANDS what John is saying then they would comprehend that.
Instead of pulling people up on doctrine, could you share the truth of the Bible. Our Christian lives are not about intellectual exercises, but one that is Spirit filled, one that builds others up - even your enemies. I think that your commentaries (especially as a Christian on a public forum) gives Christianity a very bad name. Why not email Mr. MacArthur instead?
Why not share the wonderful experiences of being crucified with Christ? Instead, tell us of your sufferings, and in that, how God in His sovereignty is glorified.
Why not tell us of your love for truth and His sovereign grace! Tell us of how you have been so moved that you want others to know about it - even if it means death and suffering.
Andrew, (this is only my opinion) you come across as someone who makes incorrect assumptions...it looks ugly. Intead, why not tell us of a time this week when God has made an opportunity for you to share Jesus' work?
Putting material like this on a public forum (especially of such matters) makes me think that you are here to puff yourself up... =/
Forgive me that I come across quite crass Andrew. I despair when I see such material. Instead of bickering, let's put our energies into feeding the poor, caring for the dying, being merciful to those who do not deserve mercy...let's put our energy into sharing the ABSURDITY OF HIS GRACE!
Andrew, God's grace has made massive effects upon my life. Its wondrous absurdity has made me want to reach out to people who are less fortunate than I - my response to His grace makes me want to work with people who have severe mental health issues - and be with them in their most desperate need and to simply TELL THEM ABOUT CHRIST'S WORK!
Andrew, please I urge you, take these material down. Instead, put your efforts to greater work! And believe me, the work out there is great. =)
Hi Nathaniel. Just thought I'd share some scripture with you to let you know that what Andrew is doing here is EQUALLY important to what you are doing! Read Galatians 1:6-9. Paul warns us that if we teach a gospel other than what the apostles and Christ taught we will be under God's wrath! It would be great if we could spend all our time doing YOUR work, but even back then they had to be defenders of the truth. God bless.
Thank you wuebbsco. Please note that the false gospel as written in Galatians 1 is about grace+works. There is nothing wrong about talking about false gospels (if the debate is whether or not Jesus has ALREADY DONE THE WORK)...but I don't think that that is what Andrew is doing.
With reference to what I do: I do what I do in response to the fact that God in His sovereignty has shown me grace, when I did NOT DESERVE IT.
And because God has shown me grace, I really CAN'T HELP but want to talk about it both my work collegues and clients. 'Grace' is the most absurd and MOST wondrous thing in this world. And if people would act upon this and then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, i.e. tell others of the good news! then we wouldn't find Christians criticizing other Christians. Where is the humility? Where is the edification for Christ's invisible church?
Andrew, from one Christian brother to another, please: instead of putting material like this on the public forum, why not email Mr. MacArthur or Mr. Piper? Don't do it here...it makes Christians look bigoted...
Nathaniel, I agree with you for the most part. You sound reformed? good. anyways, it sounds like you are saying that its ok to talk about false gospels as long as......whatever?? unless I misunderstand, I dont believe we should put a qualifier on someone who believes a false gospel, whether a Christian, Catholic, or a Jehovahs Witness or Mormon. We should always be prepared to give a defense of our faith. 1 Peter 3:15-16
To expose this false gospel is PARAMOUNT. Otherwise, ordinary people (even those of us who profess to be Christians) end up thinking that salvation comes by work; when you and I know that it doesn't =).
People today, like the Pharisees and religious leaders, miss the point of the gospel - which is why people need to know the absurd news that Jesus has ALREADY DONE THE WORK!?! Craziness! =)
And I agree wuebbsco: God enables His elect to hear the good news! In His sovereignty, there is nothing that happens on earth whereby God is surprised. God does not say, "Oops". He orchestrates everything TO BE!
And ideas have consequences. The five points of DOUBT lead men to follow their own hearts (since they think their hearts contain the truth already). It diminishes the importance of God's Word - since you can believe it and still go to hell. Nobody who holds to these five points can be assured by the facts about Christ's work.
Compare this to the five points of LOGIC. When a man believes these points he seeks to abandon any unbiblical ideas he has about God. He knows the Bible has a monopoly on God's revelation, so he will not accept any notion of God not derived from this one source. The believer accepts every Biblical proposition without hesitation or doubt, because there is nothing to judge the Bible by. Science, arguments, academics etc know nothing about God.
So the believer simply accepts God's Word based on the power and authority contained in it. And since the word says, "eveyone believing is justified" (Acts 13:39), the beleiver cannot doubt his justification. To do so, the believer would have to cease believe the Scriptures. However, remember - the believer knows that God's Word is the sole source of truth about God. So he will not abandon his source of truth, and thus always be assured of his justification.

If you think you know the Truth, then you should speak it out of love instead of attacking Macarthur.

VoSpader73 3 years ago
Living isn't dying so don't stop.
frogcombat 4 years ago

TMCguy 4 years ago 3
Hmm! Does Macarthur own this church?
Be vary careful with your choice of words.
We all know the church belongs to God and we all attend.

oh please. You know what he means. Goodness, be gracious as Christ has been gracious to you, or wait, in Andrew's eyes that would be a works-based salvation...-_-
VoSpader73 3 years ago
Wow! You obviously have no idea what John MacArthur is saying. He's obviously speaking about the knowledge that people suppress. He never said that THAT saves people. He says that sometimes God gets through! God opens their eyes and hearts through regeneration, and they heed the gospel. Duh! Move on!

MacArthur a mystic...go read Charismatic Chaos by him than see if you walk away with that sentiment.
Another thing, If heard MacArthur speak against transdispensational soteriology. You should be more careful in your assertions.

Macarthur wrote a book call The Truth War. You need to read it. If your going to slander great men of God, atleast look up what he really teaches and stop playing robot 30 sec. sound bites. Go After Rob Bell or something if you want to hear a mystic.
scotjeni 4 years ago 2
MacArthur... you have to question a man who has his own signature version of the Bible for sale and who also claims full spectrum victory in the "truth war". MacArthur is wrong about quite a lot of things... despite what his sycophants think.
MedicineWarrior 4 years ago
It says somewhere (I think in Romans)
'each man is judged according to the revelation that he has received'
And re all your doctrinal stuff, well Jesus said:
'I was hungary and you feed me, naked and you clothed me, sick and you tended me in prison and you visited me'
He was talking about salvation as being an overflow of Love !
Your looking for heretics everywhere and saying 'I alone have the truth'. Triuth is Truth and Truth is universial !

To Me it looks like you are just trying to rip apart John MacArthur. you should get clips of Pastor MacArthur saying the stuff you are quoting so you can have REAL proof that that is what he is saying and Meaning.
jacobflevi 4 years ago
Andrew, you should seriously heed the comments below from people who know and have read MacArthur. I suggest you seriously research your material prior to making such a farfetched assumption. If you were to know anything about MacArthur, you would know that he is not a mystic at all. Please, for the sake of people's time, review what you say before you say it. I think you have good arguments and what you say is for the most part truth, except the fact that they apply to MacArthur.
ivanmesa 4 years ago
Andrew you are vey very mistaken.

AFXH 4 years ago
Andrew, quick question about the video. The very first statement is that Macarthur believes unbelievers will be saved by following their own hearts. But then the next screen doesn't say that. He simply says that even unbelievers cant say they didnt have proof of God. Its all around them! Help me here, Andrew. WHat quote from macarthur says he believes unbeleivers will be saved? I know he's a strong Chrsitian so I dont believe this is true.
wuebbsco 4 years ago
To draw on one component of one sermon and snippets of a book is to make yourself someone who "has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth." We're all very impressed with your ability to misrepresent people's views. But instead of slandering great men of God, you might actually listen to what they say in its entirety.
ruscopcoltrain 4 years ago
Andrew, I really do not like what you are doing. John is NOT a mystic and I believe you know it!!! You are taking snipets of sermons taken out of context and slandering and misrepresenting great bible teachers. Do you REALLY think he believes what you are accusing him of believing?
loveoftruth 4 years ago
I get very tired of people who cherry pick snippets of great theologians' sermons and draw extreme conclusions from them. If you listened to even a little more of John MacArthur, you would know that he does not believe that anybody who "believes in God" has been saved. This is a man who has devoted himself to the teaching of scripture.
ruscopcoltrain 4 years ago
You are just slandering at this point, being that your argument is terrible. MacArthur is obviously trying to make the point that doctrinal knowledge of God is meant to lead to personal communion with God. Is our relationship with God not meant to effect the whole person? Or is it just intellectual? Maybe you should stop using short excerpts and twisting what these men are saying.
heathac 4 years ago

MacArthur gave that you referenced but I am familar with some.
hollandmin 4 years ago
That being said, I think if you listen to what he was saying in the entire context of the sermon you might have a better understanding of the point he was trying to make.
My question for you is, "If we believe what Calvin has said concerning the doctrine of election, would it be possible for some of the elect to have never come incontact with the gospel of Christ but ultimatelately still inherit eternal life."
hollandmin 4 years ago
Does God only act within the confinds of the scripture (Special revelation)or can He also act out side of scripture (general revelation)? I believe that God is only confined by that which is in His nature and holy atributes, but within that all is far game. I too believe in what Calvin has said but if you take him too far you might rearange your priorities (Commandment 2).

To hollandmin: For those that God has chosen - He will make things to happen that they (in the least) hear the message that Jesus has done all the work...
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
nathaniel, I love to hear the gospel truth. That's right..the Elect of God will hear the message and WILL be saved, only by His awesome grace, which we do not deserve. And works will be a natural part of True saving faith. Not a way to earn it! Our righteousness is like filthy rags to the Lord.
wuebbsco 4 years ago
I have heard enough of John MacArthurs double talk to know he is showing partiality in handling of the gospel, and I certainly did NOT need Andrew McBain to convict me of that. MacArthur has made so many contradictory statements opposing his own testimony, such as his "sonship of Christ" debacle and his statements on Christs blood not to mention his disaster defending humanistic psychology. Be careful who you defend in these apostate days.
jesuitinfiltrator 4 years ago
I understand your concern, and I will not defend all that MacArthur says. Who is it that you find closer to the gospel teachings if not John MacArthur?

hollandmin: Part 1
I'd have to say that I agree whole-heartedly with Calvin's work; not that I cling to thoelogians, but Calvin describes the COMPLETE sovereignty of God! He expounds the Biblical truth that describes our Creator. Do not however be lured into aligning yourself with either Piper OR MacArthur or whoever.

hollandmin: No, no.

Frankly, I am bewildered.
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Hi Nathaniel.
MacArthur supports the five points of DOUBT.
D - Deep down unbelievers have truth in them
O - Often people who believe the truth go to hell
U - Uncertainty about salvation is inevitable
B - Belief is not propositional
T - The Psalms are David's experiences
AndrewcBain 4 years ago
Part 1
Instead of pulling people up on doctrine, could you share the truth of the Bible. Our Christian lives are not about intellectual exercises, but one that is Spirit filled, one that builds others up - even your enemies. I think that your commentaries (especially as a Christian on a public forum) gives Christianity a very bad name. Why not email Mr. MacArthur instead?
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Part 2
Why not share the wonderful experiences of being crucified with Christ? Instead, tell us of your sufferings, and in that, how God in His sovereignty is glorified.
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Why not tell us of your love for truth and His sovereign grace! Tell us of how you have been so moved that you want others to know about it - even if it means death and suffering.
Andrew, (this is only my opinion) you come across as someone who makes incorrect assumptions...it looks ugly. Intead, why not tell us of a time this week when God has made an opportunity for you to share Jesus' work?
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Putting material like this on a public forum (especially of such matters) makes me think that you are here to puff yourself up... =/
Forgive me that I come across quite crass Andrew. I despair when I see such material. Instead of bickering, let's put our energies into feeding the poor, caring for the dying, being merciful to those who do not deserve mercy...let's put our energy into sharing the ABSURDITY OF HIS GRACE!
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Andrew, God's grace has made massive effects upon my life. Its wondrous absurdity has made me want to reach out to people who are less fortunate than I - my response to His grace makes me want to work with people who have severe mental health issues - and be with them in their most desperate need and to simply TELL THEM ABOUT CHRIST'S WORK!
Andrew, please I urge you, take these material down. Instead, put your efforts to greater work! And believe me, the work out there is great. =)
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Hi Nathaniel. God bless.
wuebbsco 4 years ago
Part 1.
With reference to what I do: I do what I do in response to the fact that God in His sovereignty has shown me grace, when I did NOT DESERVE IT.
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Part 2. (To wuebbsco)
Where is the edification for Christ's invisible church?
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Part 3. (To wuebbsco)
And quite frankly, I find it shameful...
Andrew, from one Christian brother to another, please: instead of putting material like this on the public forum, why not email Mr. MacArthur or Mr. Piper? Don't do it here...it makes Christians look bigoted...
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
Nathaniel, I agree with you for the most part. You sound reformed? good. anyways, it sounds like you are saying that its ok to talk about false gospels as long as......whatever?? unless I misunderstand, I dont believe we should put a qualifier on someone who believes a false gospel, whether a Christian, Catholic, or a Jehovahs Witness or Mormon. We should always be prepared to give a defense of our faith. 1 Peter 3:15-16
wuebbsco 4 years ago
To expose this false gospel is PARAMOUNT. Otherwise, ordinary people (even those of us who profess to be Christians) end up thinking that salvation comes by work; when you and I know that it doesn't =).
People today, like the Pharisees and religious leaders, miss the point of the gospel - which is why people need to know the absurd news that Jesus has ALREADY DONE THE WORK!?! Craziness! =)
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
And I agree wuebbsco: God enables His elect to hear the good news! In His sovereignty, there is nothing that happens on earth whereby God is surprised. God does not say, "Oops". He orchestrates everything TO BE!
WONDERFUL!
nathanielmacrae 4 years ago
And ideas have consequences. The five points of DOUBT lead men to follow their own hearts (since they think their hearts contain the truth already). It diminishes the importance of God's Word - since you can believe it and still go to hell. Nobody who holds to these five points can be assured by the facts about Christ's work.
AndrewcBain 4 years ago
Compare this to the five points of LOGIC. When a man believes these points he seeks to abandon any unbiblical ideas he has about God. He knows the Bible has a monopoly on God's revelation, so he will not accept any notion of God not derived from this one source. The believer accepts every Biblical proposition without hesitation or doubt, because there is nothing to judge the Bible by. Science, arguments, academics etc know nothing about God.
AndrewcBain 4 years ago
So the believer simply accepts God's Word based on the power and authority contained in it. And since the word says, "eveyone believing is justified" (Acts 13:39), the beleiver cannot doubt his justification. To do so, the believer would have to cease believe the Scriptures. However, remember - the believer knows that God's Word is the sole source of truth about God. So he will not abandon his source of truth, and thus always be assured of his justification.
