I was born in El Centro 49 years ago of Australian parents. I left when I was one year old when my parents returned to Australia. I have never been back to El Centro. Thank you for showing me the town that I was born in. If its behind the times thats fine by me. Not everything thats new is good. People talk about change. Is that change for the better or change for the worse? It looks peacefull. Thats hard to find in this world.

El Centro, what a crap hole. I grew up there and moved away when I was 20. It really is a horrible, depressing, really hot, and "unchanging" town. The only thing I miss about the place is my parents, who still live there, otherwise I avoid coming here at all costs.

Don't get me wrong I don't dislike the people, just the area. Like someone else commented, you really do need to get out and see what else is out there. El Centro is town stuck in a time capsule. It's so unlike the rest of California

Ok you're right you got a good point there. I haven't lived there for 12 years but I still can't handle when it's too cold. I do like the heat.

On the other hand.. I can't handle the cold. I was in the military and was in the middle east(Iraq and Afghanistan) for a while. I had no problem with the heat. At the same time I was stationed in Anchorage Alaska and I couldn't handle the cold. Living in El Centro made me tough "heatwise" but I think the people who live in the cold have it more tough.
