  • Mets shous bring him back as a coach or manager, it wil hapen you'll see, get rid of manuel

  • johnny bench is the greatest hitting catcher of all-time. and cheering your teams catcher for making a good throw to second base to catch a base stealer is not "disrespectful" it's what fans do.

  • No way is Bench a better hitter. Piazza built his stats playing in Dodger stadium (a pitcher's park) and in a Mets lineup with littel to no protection, as has been previously noted here. Bench was part of the Big Red Machine, and was clearly not alone in the batting order. Even with these obstacles, Piazza batted .300 in nine straight seasons (more than Bench), won 10 straight Silver Sluggers, and has the most home runs of any catcher. He's the best of all time.

  • Hall of Fame all the way

  • thats fuckin disrespectful to chant for frickin paul loduca when mike ppiazza, the legend, the best hitting catcher EVER, is at the plat. fuckin aweful.

  • mike piazza i always say mike pizza

  • Mike is t better then any other catcher i know

  • i'm a big met fan and i hated piazza. he wasn't clutch. he couldn't throw out a runner and he always found a way to hit into a double play, especially with the game on the line. I'm much happier with Lo Duca. He's a real, tough, scrappy catcher. Anyway, go Mets 2007

  • yep, thats why LoDuca has taken a lot of teams to the World Series.

  • Umm....are you shitting me? I like Loduca but saying Piazza wasn't clutch is just dumb. Quit being a Met fan and do everyone a favor.

  • THANK YOU! Shees all these anti-Piazza people have popped up all of a sudden after he left. For Christs's Sakes, he brought us back to credibility in 98-00. He couldn't carry the team forever.

Like Pedro did today (bring the Mets back to credibility) Only this time when Pedro got hurt, our GM had built a GOOD team so he didn't have to carry us like Piazza had to but couldn't from 02-04.

  • you aint no met fan...how can you like the mets and hate mike piazza hes like one of the greatest mets of all time and the greatest hitting catcher of all time...you say he aint clutch...this man almost single handedly took the mets to the series....psycho

  • Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately people seem to only remember the late Piazza years when the only protection Piazza had in the lineup was Karim Garcia, Shane Spencer, Todd Zeile, and therefore the Mets were terrible. Piazza is one of the greatest Mets of all time ... and needs to have his # retired.

  • Mike was more to the METS than just a bad thrower. He gave the METS and their fans hope, devotion and many exciting moments with the bat.

Lo Duca is gone now. He will not get cheered like Mikey did. Mike is beloved. He will always be a MET. We should sign him for a one day contract and let him go out a MET

  • As a Dodger fan, I see things much like you. But Not as a Met. Anyway, he will pick the team who buttered his muffin. The mets. Either way. Both teams showed him the door. He might as well go in as a Devil Ray.

  • @oldphoque Players do not chose, the league does.

  • ...good thing the rocket wasn't pitching.

  • Yea...cuz Piazza owns the Rocket!

  • Its gonna be great when he retires a Met. Hoppefully he rocks the house in Oakland

  • He was at his best with the Dodgers.

  • I was at the game when he hit 2 HR's and almost a 3rd. I gave him a standing o on both of them, but many fans were pissed after he hit the 2nd.

  • I was at that game too But remember it was Heilman (remember him!) threw Mike a fastball that Mike crushed Luckly Beltran leaped and caught it Thanks for the years Mike see you Cooperstown!

  • that was a great game. Not only did Piazza get a single that ultimately didn't hurt the Mets, the Amazins picked up a win with a solid pitching performance from Trach-Can along with some timely hitting and solid bullpen work.

  • I was also one of the thousands giving him a standing ovation. I was sitting in the mezzanine section along the third base line. I was probably right below you. I started laughing as the chants changed to "Paul Lo Duca"
