As someone who believes in God, I do find the concept of hell very disgusting. I'm glad most Christians now are believing that hell is just another word for grave.
I like Hitches. I use to read him in Vanity Fair. However, I am not an anti-theist. I do not fight against religion even though I am a non-believer. To say that there is no relationship beteen the idea of God and morality is naive. Does Hitchens think the Ten Commandments mean nothing to the world's morality? There are many homeless people here where I live. They get fed at the mission downtown. The mission is ran by Christians. Is this not good?
@JayGatsbyOdysseus It's absurd to think that we can't live moral lives without the need of ancient mythological scriptures. If you look at the 10 commandments, the first 3 of them are about fearing God, so we're meant to love someone we fear. And I don't know about you, but forced love is a little bit shadey. If that mission you're talking about is run by the Salvation Army, I suggest you look into how they use the money the kind hearted give to them is used to lobby anti-gay laws everywhere.
@mattcorden95 No, it's not the Salvation Army but I am sure they are also militant toward gays. This is exactly my point. Religion is not all bad or all good. It is some good and some bad. Hitchens doesn't want to admit this. He only can see the bad. Circumcision is good. How did we get this good medical thing from a lie, religion? Hell, I don't know. But, when my gf told me she wanted me to get circumcised to suck my dick, you can bet I did it.
@JayGatsbyOdysseus The only good things that is done is the occasional bit of charity work which they do out of fear of God and not genuine kindness. We had the crusades, the orange volunteers in Belfast near where I live (responsible for murders of Catholics), the catholic church that played a role in pretty much every fascist regime (francoism, salazarism, naziism, the ustase) and the israeli-palestine conflict which is happeneing because each side believes they have God on their side.
@mattcorden95 I agree, the Catholic Church and religon in general has been the cause of a lot of evil. If you think that man would be more moral without religion, you are stupid. Look to the Soviet Union and Joseph Stalin. See how those atheist treated each other. Christians do good for others because of their hero Jesus was kind, because of his words of being good to the poor, not fear! You will not admit this so you are just as egomaniacal as a despot. It is a mixture of good and evil.
@JayGatsbyOdysseus I'm tired of this same old Stalin argument; Stalin himself was an absolute nutter, he murdered many of his own colleagues not just his own people. He never did that in the name of atheism, the fact he was an atheist is about as relevant as the fact he didn't believe in faries. And of course religion leads people to good things but the odd bit of charity work does not out-weigh the murder and persecution of minorities which would have otherwise been prevented.
@JayGatsbyOdysseus Christians do good things not just to follow in the foot steps of Jesus, but mainly because they have the fear implemented into them that they will plunge into the firey depths of hell if they don't. Much like the fear of turning out to be homosexual, they must repress themselves because they think that's what God wants them to do. It obviously has nothing to do with the sentiments of the religious founders -.- Ever noticed how God hates the same people as Christians?
@mattcorden95 You are wrong. Yes, God was invented because of fear but the altruism of Christians is because of their hero's words and life. If you don't understand this, you are myopic, obtuse, a person on the margins of understanding Christianity. Fear is in Islam. Fear is in Judaism. Yet do these people have missions in all the cities of USA feeding the poor? No. Only Christians do this...because of Jesus. Think about it.
@JayGatsbyOdysseus I never denied that fact. Yet there are hundreds of secular charities all over the world that do some amazing work, without any political motives (ie. to restrict the rights of homosexuals) to spend a percentage of our donated money on. That's why I never give to charities such as the Salvation Army because although they "have missions in all the cities of the USA," they also have their fair share of political lobbyists, which is disgraceful if they want to be a charity.
Typical religious fucktard... didn't have the decency or the humility to clap at the end after Hitchens politely and profoundly destroyed his premise.

I really do wish there was a heaven. I am sure if there was there would be a debate of hitchens vs god, with kim jong il waiting for his verdict and getting bored (at least he doesn't need to go to the bathroom).
Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, showing that their desire was to sin. If it is mankind's desire to sin, how can God be blamed? If you desire your life to change, then turn to the Lord Jesus Christ today. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28
This man's straw man of religion is almost as incredible as seeing the masses which believe his every word. His unaccountability towards God and professed morality is nothing more than a line drawn upon the sand. It's really sad to see people trapped in their own intellectual box so thoroughly convinced of their own madness.
Hitchens is and will be missed and I hope many join in the fight against ignorance and those that kill and murder in the name of the their god.
Those that become wealthy in the name of their god while fleecing the pockets of the gullible who least can afford it, making those pretending to be speaking for a god rich.
im an atheist. but i like to read about religion, because, even though i dont believe in any god, i find the history interesting. and i disagree with his point about the apocalypse. if you look at the actual greek meaning of the word it is 'lifting of the veil' and if you read religious texts, most ancient Christians considered this as a great change in human thinking, almost a rebirth of human kind and not death doom and despair that most people think of it now.just thought that was interesting
@thomo4210 im sorry you said if you read the religious texts...how does one interpret "And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth" (revelations 6:8) as "a great change in human thinking?"
I love this. That poor schlep that asked the question in an attempt to be what he probably thought was witty and clever. Only to get utterly destroyed by a Hitch slap.
...All those proponents of logical proof of God's non-existence are merely being fooled themselves! And they are foolish enough to make the purpose of their lives to prove all other believers wrong! What a Noble and worthy cause! Or maybe they are not as foolish as they might seem... maybe they have an agenda, they are hiding so carefully under all this "passion" and "mission" to logically drag us all down the abyss of loss and nihilism... Take cover against such "well-meaning missionaries"!!!
This is not a question of theism against a-theism... It's a question of believing in God than believing in no-thing - the absence of God and the presence of what in his place? humans ? Isn't that the old fool's worry of a chicken-egg situation. If human is God in the place of God, then let human play God: you may experience the result of such a proposition in today's world! True? Don't be naive - the Devil is fooling you of his own non-existence, making you the "god" in his own fake kingdom...
@raikog Oh the irony... no this is most certainly a question of atheism against theism because the only difference between your god and allah, zeus, odin, jehovah, vishnu among hundreds of others is the amount of followers...
@autopsy87 I'd argue that atheists give just as much to charity than theists. Having a religion doesn't make you any more giving, in fact, if they followed their own doctrine they would give away EVERYTHING they had.
@Eldritchfan i too am a non-believer, but i am a gun owner and enthusiast. i don't know about you, but when the religious fanatics come afrer me (in my home), they will have to look down the barrels of my, and my family member's, guns.
@Hellcat040369 Its amazing what Hitchens was able to do in only a few minutes. The angry that asked the question actually clapped for a few seconds at the end!!
I am pleasantly surprised to see that a LOT of people on YouTube are rational thinkers and skeptical about things that have no evidence, such as Religion, belief in the Occult and Paranormal phenomenon. If everybody on Earth can be a rational and free thinker, our world will be a Utopia.
@siddharthjoshi91 You'll find sites like youtube and reddit are usually almost 10:1 atheist to religious. Part of it is there are probably more atheists out there than statistically shown in polls due to closet atheism.
@siddharthjoshi91 What worries me is that while a lot of people who watch Hitchens and the like are certainly rational and critical thinkers, there are equally as many if not more who watch the nutcase Christian and Muslim videos and comment with their undying support on those videos. From what I see, religion still has a very strong hold on many minds.
@siddharthjoshi91 sadly the YT-community doesnt at all reflect the world though. A huge amount of bullshit is thought to be true by an unbelievably big part of the population. While speeches by Hitchens or Dawkins get 95% thumbs up on YT, they wouldnt even get the allowance to speak in some places. Would be interesting to find out reasons why people who disagree with their teachings are such a minority in the biggest internet communities despite being a big part of population
On the Internet- the only things that matter- the facts, the truth and the evidence. Religion cannot survive this brutal onslaught of information. In the real world, however, people believe what they want to believe. They want a sense of control over their lives and hence turn to pseudoscience and religion.
ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)
SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE, because of entropy, could not have sustained itself eternally. Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. The supernatural cannot be proved by science but science points to a supernatural intelligence for the origin and order of the universe ~ HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM (Article)
DEBATE IS NOT OVER. In Darwin's time not enough science was known to refute macro-evolution. There was no understanding of genetics. Darwin thought the cell was just a simple glob. No one knew about DNA, RNA, proteins. Modern evolutionists now know, but the theory is entrenched as gospel and a lot of personal motives are at stake as well. Just saying that something evolved doesn't make it so! Read my article WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
DAWKINS, HITCHENS, AND HAWKING REFUSE TO DEBATE with creationists who are SCIENTISTS, such as the scientists at The Institute for Creation Research. Dawkins and his friends only debate non-scientist creationists. Read my popular Internet articles: ARE FOSSILS REALLY MILLIONS OF YEARS OLD? HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM, ANY LIFE ON MARS CAME FROM EARTH, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE!
ALL REAL EVOLUTION ( i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.) is the expression, over time, of already existing genes. Evolution is possible only if there’s information (genes) directing it. Only variations of already existing genes are possible, which means only limited evolution and adaptations are possible. Nature can only work with the "cards" it has. Nature is not a genetic engineer! It can't invent new genes. That’s evolutionary faith, not science. Read my article, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
GENETIC INFORMATION DOESN'T HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. It doesn't mean all forms of life are biologically related! "Junk DNA" isn't junk. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression. Read: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
NOT EVEN ALL EVOLUTIONISTS agree on the fossils used to support and reconstruct human evolution. The bones are incomplete. There's no certainty of the bones belonging to the same creature. They can reconstruct whatever they want from these bones, and they have. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from an ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from a four-legged dog-like creatures. Read my article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE
APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even inheriting a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from an ape-like creature anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from a four-legged dog-like creature. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.
BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from variations that have survival value. It doesn't produce variations. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it living! Read: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
“VESTIGIAL” A USELESS ARGUMENT: At one time dozens of structures in the human body were considered vestigial until our knowledge about them increased and we realized they weren’t vestigial, after all. It’s now been published that so-called “Junk DNA” isn’t junk, after all. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression (when, where, and how genes are expressed). Read my article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
@4:00&ff, Not all Christian people believe in a "Rapture" or that those "left behind" will be doomed.Hitchens is being a bit unfair here calling the Eschatalogical hope a culture of death. While no doubt some people abuse these texts, the original audiences were people under persecution. These texts were to encourage them that their suffering would not be in vain, and that the justice of God would inevitably prevail. Of course, one has to believe in God for that to have any weight whatsoever.
Shoes that will never be filled... I never did fan-mail, but how cannot I not try to show my appreciation somehow? Anyone know how to send him fan-mail?
This "ultimate wickedness and ultimate stupidity" is, as I think he tried to say, in the actions of the people. There is nothing wrong with believing in a god. Some of these atheists are becoming exactly what they say they hate in theists. No one knows for sure that there is no god and no one knows for sure that there is. Believe what you want but stop acting like know-it-all assholes about it. That's my opinion in a nutshell.
CH cant discern the false religion which he hates from the true religion which is faith expressing itself through love. Faith in God who is love results in his pwerful love working thru us to wards others.
i can continue to believe in God because i require more than the ramblings of a cynical God hater to change my mind. i require proof, scientific data. there is none. atheism will end up being just as destructive as any of the religions have supposedly been, if one looks more closely the religions of the world have done far more good... but you won't look and you know it, which makes you just as hypcritical, corrupt and closed minded as you think christians are.
You require scientific evidence for the nonexistence of a being for which there is no evidence? Fail. Try again. Come back when you've shown a scientific disproof of the toothfairy.
@cwross1976 you believe in a deity because your scared of what comes after...why not be a satanist if you believe in god? its because you want the wonders of heaven, your selfish and your entire religion is tainted by the infection of "the god disease" and i hope you do have to suffer an eternity of life after this.
@cwross1976 God doesnt need to be disproved, he needs to be proved to exist by believers. Unless you can do that there is absoloutly no way you can rationally believe in the judao-christian God rather than Allah, santa claus or the flying spaghetti monster. scientific data is NOT NECESSARY to disprove God
@cwross1976 im sorry, but did you say that religion has done far more good than atheism? religion has been the tool of more control, murder, genocide, oppression, rape, misogyny, ignorance, homophobia, and fear than anything else. religion does good in comforting people, bringing them hope (tho i believe its false), and does a lot of good with charities. However, all of this can be accomplished without the magic, miracles, mysticism, and threats of eternal punishment.
@autopsy87 Doesn't do that good for charities: when raising money for starving kids in Africa they spend a lot of that money buying bibles for the kids instead of food.
@autopsy87 religious people do a lot of harm, i'll grant u that, but often this harm is in contrast to the actual, original teachings and is the result of misunderstanding/lack of understanding. I know this is true of Christianity and the bible at least although there are some parts in the old testament which may seem like racism to you but you don't have to understand god to trust him
@kidasterorig111 …and I'll respectfully disagree with you. Moralism does good, not religion. It's not a matter of the good side or the bad side… Religion teaches fear, not respect. As for the Ten Commandments…do a biblical count. Deaths in the Bible. god-2,270,365 not including the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc because no specific numbers were given. satan-10.
You said "no specific numbers were given" yet you give me a very specific number 2,270365.
Also before the flood I would estimate probably a population below 30,000 to 50,000.
According to University of Hawaii
political scientist Rudolph J. Rummel, the total number killed in all of human history is
estimated to be about 284,638,000. 151,491,000 were killed during the past 100 years. The in all of human history is, by far, atheistic Communism with a total of 110,000,000
@kidasterorig111 … no, I said no specific numbers were given for "the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc". Read, don't interpret. … and once again, you point out the failures of the bible as a historic reference. Which book aren't you reading?
"The term religious communism has been ascribed to the social arrangement practiced by many orders of monks and nuns of such religions as Christianity, Taoism, Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism".
@kidasterorig111 "It is argued that the New Testament of the Bible relates how some of the early Christians lived in communities organized according to communist-like principles (see Christian communism).
"all who owned property or houses sold them and lay them at the feet of the apostles to be distributed to everyone according to his need." (Acts 4:32-35)
Atheistic communism? Because a "communist" wants religion destroyed doesn't make him/her and "atheist". It means he wants his control!
@kidasterorig111 I don't believe I said religious people want religion destroyed at all. That's you interpretation. … that's the beauty of the bible and religions in general. YOUR interpretation is right, while what I read and comprehend is completely wrong. Oh well. you win.
I'm sorry, that was my bad. It's just the New Atheist movement is just so aggressive and if you aren't just as aggressive and if you seem to shy and week you will probably lose followers. That's how it is right now.
Besides you could have your own interpretation but misconceptions are what I can't tolerate.
@kidasterorig111 No bad at all. I just enjoy all points and angles of view. I don't push, ever. I know I hate being pushed. I do enjoy hearing all sides of a debate! My opinions are mine, and may be a bit skewed… sorry about that!
@kidasterorig111 ergo, the religious are contemptuous of communism because the brainwashing isn't to their liking! "Communists" would have their version of mass control, while theists would have theirs! Simple battle for control… which, if you exercised your right of thought, would not matter to you because you would intuit that both were ridiculous….
If one person is deemed delusional, he is locked up and put away as crazy. If thousands are deemed delusional, we call that religion.
@kidasterorig111 "262 million victims of democide in the last century" according to Rudolph J. Rummel. … again, read it properly, not interpretively. "democide: 'the murder of any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and mass murder'. … we're talking about 2000 years, not 100.
@kidasterorig111 He simply didn't research that far. This is simply a count from biblical text…. that's all. It's really not a pleasant book, if you actually read it….
@kidasterorig111 … or Luke 19, "Jesus" says, "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring them hither, and slay them before me".
… we can go on … Jehovistic god is a murderous, misogynic, hateful, spiteful, jealous beast… much like the men who "created" him/her/it.
@cwross1976 Why do you believe in a god in the first place? There is no scientific data, no evidence, no proof that a god exists, yet you believe that.one does. That makes YOU the hypocrite.
And I will dispute that religions have done far more good. For centuries they have been interfering with scientific process, burying new discoveries that don't fit their theistic view, torturing people for the "crime" of not believing and committing/attempting genocide on those with a different belief.
@cwross1976 What a phenomenally stupid comment. You are utterly clueless as to what atheism is and is not. Educate yourself so as not to apear so foolish. "God hater." Puh-leese.
@JRC3034 I don't wonder at all. I am fighting from within many of the problems you are grappling with from outside. Let me ask you though, are all people of faith idiots? For instance, did you know that one of the Dr.s who are tending to Hitchen's in his cancer treatments is a Christian?
How can some one who doesn't believe in a god hate it????????
And Atheism won't do any harm to the world. Neither does Religion. It will become a problem when people become radical fanatics about there believes and start killing each other just because they believe or don't believe in a god.
For example the crusades was a pointless so called holy war of Christian radicals.
And Communism is a unfortunate example of radical regime and its origins you can trace towards Atheism.
@Hunkarov You don't hate the 'God', you hate the ideology based around the concept. You hate the actions of its followers.
Religion at its core has always been a driving force behind evil. Whenever someone thinks they have the right to do something against another because they have a higher authority backing them up they will turn eventually to evil acts. And at the core of the Monotheistic religions is a trend of bigotry and savage violence.
@Hunkarov Also communism was one of the few non-religious ideologies that led to evil acts. Though in its own way it acted much like a religion - the Party was the ruling clergy, Stalin or Mao were the living Gods that ruled completely and would massacre anyone they pleased to keep the masses in line. Had it survived, it would likely have become much like modern religions are today.
Religion is designed at its core to control. Communism was power to the people, and was corrupted and abused.
@andromidius from my perspective as a Christian, the problem is not Christianity, as much as it is so called Christian people who do not live according to the tenants of their own religion. For instance James wrote: "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." James 1:27 (NASB) Hard to take that seriously and commit to something like the Crusades...
@Hunkarov But at what point do we consider someone too 'radical'? I would be willing to die rather than deny my faith. But I would never kill for my faith, and anyone who would tell me to kill in the name of God is not talking about the same God I know.
@cwross1976 Lol get your facts straight before ranting about something you obviously know nothing about. That's how Science works, religion just blows claims out of it's ass & we get idiotic comments like the one you just posted..
@ezekialwheel well, i guess it depends on who you're talking to. hitchens himself has said he is grateful for those who are praying for him. doesn't mean he thinks it'll do anything but he appreciates the solidarity.
Dude, that asked the question looked pissed in that close up.

It's really sad to see people trapped in their own intellectual box so thoroughly convinced of their own madness.

im an atheist. but i like to read about religion, because, even though i dont believe in any god, i find the history interesting. and i disagree with his point about the apocalypse. if you look at the actual greek meaning of the word it is 'lifting of the veil' and if you read religious texts, most ancient Christians considered this as a great change in human thinking, almost a rebirth of human kind and not death doom and despair that most people think of it now.just thought that was interesting

However, all of this can be accomplished without the magic, miracles, mysticism, and threats of eternal punishment.
autopsy87 7 months ago 29
@autopsy87 Doesn't do that good for charities: when raising money for starving kids in Africa they spend a lot of that money buying bibles for the kids instead of food.

I'll have to disagree with you. Theism did good in this world too. It's just people usually look at the bad side more than the good side.
Theism promotes giving to those less fortunate and what not we all should know.
Although about religion promoting murder. That's where I disagree because the bible in the ten commandments specifically tells you to not do killings.
Bible is like law. Law was made for the intent for good but some people try to go around the law and cause hurt.
kidasterorig111 1 month ago
@kidasterorig111 …and I'll respectfully disagree with you. Moralism does good, not religion. It's not a matter of the good side or the bad side… Religion teaches fear, not respect. As for the Ten Commandments…do a biblical count. Deaths in the Bible. god-2,270,365 not including the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc because no specific numbers were given. satan-10.
Sounds like some religious killings to me.

The in all of human history is, by far, atheistic Communism with a total of 110,000,000
kidasterorig111 1 month ago
@kidasterorig111 … no, I said no specific numbers were given for "the victims of Noah's flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the many plagues, famines, fiery serpents, etc". Read, don't interpret. … and once again, you point out the failures of the bible as a historic reference. Which book aren't you reading?
"The term religious communism has been ascribed to the social arrangement practiced by many orders of monks and nuns of such religions as Christianity, Taoism, Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism".
ReistLaxCoach 1 month ago
@ReistLaxCoach LOL
Where did I say that the bible isn't historically accurate? So where did you get the "2,270,365" from?
Isn't reading and interpreting part of the skills taught in schools? What you want me to just throw away years worth of listening and boredom?
Also what does the quote mean? All the religions are belief systems with their own moral rules.
kidasterorig111 1 month ago
@kidasterorig111 "It is argued that the New Testament of the Bible relates how some of the early Christians lived in communities organized according to communist-like principles (see Christian communism).
"all who owned property or houses sold them and lay them at the feet of the apostles to be distributed to everyone according to his need." (Acts 4:32-35)
Atheistic communism? Because a "communist" wants religion destroyed doesn't make him/her and "atheist". It means he wants his control!

Hunkarov 7 months ago
@Hunkarov You don't hate the 'God', you hate the ideology based around the concept. You hate the actions of its followers.
Religion at its core has always been a driving force behind evil. Whenever someone thinks they have the right to do something against another because they have a higher authority backing them up they will turn eventually to evil acts. And at the core of the Monotheistic religions is a trend of bigotry and savage violence.
andromidius 7 months ago
@Hunkarov Also communism was one of the few non-religious ideologies that led to evil acts. Though in its own way it acted much like a religion - the Party was the ruling clergy, Stalin or Mao were the living Gods that ruled completely and would massacre anyone they pleased to keep the masses in line. Had it survived, it would likely have become much like modern religions are today.
Religion is designed at its core to control. Communism was power to the people, and was corrupted and abused.
andromidius 7 months ago
@andromidius Agreed
Hunkarov 7 months ago
@andromidius from my perspective as a Christian, the problem is not Christianity, as much as it is so called Christian people who do not live according to the tenants of their own religion. For instance James wrote: "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." James 1:27 (NASB) Hard to take that seriously and commit to something like the Crusades...
browilliams 7 months ago
@cwross1976 That fact is Religion or Ideologies are harmless so long people don't get radical about it
sorry the comment was too long
Hunkarov 7 months ago
@Hunkarov But at what point do we consider someone too 'radical'? I would be willing to die rather than deny my faith. But I would never kill for my faith, and anyone who would tell me to kill in the name of God is not talking about the same God I know.

@browilliams When they start forcing people too believe in there god or ideology. Or just kill people because they believe something different.

@cwross1976 Lol get your facts straight before ranting about something you obviously know nothing about. That's how Science works, religion just blows claims out of it's ass & we get idiotic comments like the one you just posted..

@LittleTownInNorway Are you saying that the audience is ignorant or that the person who asked the question is ignorant?
Vaizone3000 8 months ago

@ezekialwheel well, i guess it depends on who you're talking to. hitchens himself has said he is grateful for those who are praying for him. doesn't mean he thinks it'll do anything but he appreciates the solidarity.
