you should not take over 500mg of magnesium a day...if you over dose on magnesium you with damage your kidneys

Fully reacted magnesium aspartate works the best for me
for maximum assimilation and absorption. Second best
would be the citrate form.
I take 200 mg twice per day (400 mg total) with the
all-important vitamin B6 for the magnesium to get
inside the cells. Without B6, magnesium will not get
inside the cell to do its job. I take 50 mg twice daily
(100 mg total) of vitamin B6.
Disclaimer: Do not take more than 100 mg of vitamin
B6 unless instructed otherwise by a qualified doctor.
