Thankyou for postin this song that is asking a question.. Interesting to make a song based on who's that outside there knocking away.........it would actually spook me, not knowing who it is, especially when I'm all alone in the middle of a forest where werewolves are known to hang out. I'm not into the big bad wolf scene either but that wolf seems tame enough after watching "New Moon". Thx4 postin'
A interesting thing to state is (acording to Wikipedia):
Afreet—also spelled ifrit, efreet, ifreet, and afrit (Arabic: ʻIfrīt: عفريت, pl ʻAfārīt: عفاريت)—are supernatural creatures in Arabic and Islamic cultures. They are in a class of infernal djinn, spirits below the level of angels, noted for their strength and cunning.
Djinn: from wich derives the word english word, "genie",plural:genies, the name of the group
@lolpaf DJIIN exactly they ARE THE GENIES so pleas edont go and compare this too some veil angel because its so wrong its not even EDUCATIVE & I rspect any religion tradition or cult....;pbut here we talking GREAT MUSIC so BEAT IT!
@katwho1974 Sorry forgot music this song must as been done by at least 3 different recording company 7 & 10 differents artist if u want educative INshallah...choukran for the info...conio!
I believe that Claude Johnson, Juan of Don & Juan fame, is in the center back row. Claude was an original Genie but I don't believe that Roland Trone was ever a Genie. Claude met Roland afterwards when they were painters on Long Island. The Genies were formed by Eugene Pitt of Jive Five fame but never sang with them as well.
@stripemister : I attended that show also in the same time frame that you mentioned and you may remember that the theatre had a circular rotating stage. I always like this song because it was a great record to fast dance to and has interesting lyrics.
@rvictor64 Yo!!! It was a great show, and that circular rotating stage was something that I appreciated. There were other performer's, but I don't remember who. The two guy's who sang "who's that knocking," was done by Don & Juan, former members of the Genies. Also, at that performance, I think one of hem had a busted leg, for he came out on the stage wearing a cast. We were fortunate to been aground listening to the greatest sounding music to one's ear.
@stripemister : You are correct. Roland Tyrone and Claude Johnson were two of the original 4 members and then they became Don&Juan. I believe we were there the same night and the other two groups that might have been there were the Impalas and Lee Andrews and the Hearts. I cannot be sure of this because I went to Valley Forge Music Theatre twice in one year. I did see the Genies there and since they only appear there once, it had to be the same night. Best Regards, Ron
@68pierrefond68 The Rock On Encyclopidia and American Singing Groups History does list William Gaines as being an original member back in 1956 but they do not list him as part of the group in 1958 when The Genies released 'Who's that knocking on my Door." I hope that your Grandfather is still alive so you can check with him. Best Regards, Ron
@rvictor64 yeah but you sse the guy in the upper middle of the picture is my grandfather and his name is william gaines he used to live in new york but now he lives in montreal canada and he still gets money from that album so i dont know what you trying to say
@68pierrefond68 : You are correct that William Gaines is an original member of the Genies and if he is your Grandfather and you indicate that he get royalties from this record, then he must have been a member when the song was released or he had a contract to get paid for this record even if he wasn't on the original recording. Any way you should be proud of your Grandfather because he is part of Rock&Roll history. Ron
I never heard it before. What a great fun tune. Love it. By the way Fittieflashback, one of them passed away....do not know which one. (that is Don or Juan). Thanks csis449 for posting this number.
