Actually those centers in 80s,90s are also very good st mid-range. Gasol is good but he can't compare to Ewing's(or Hakeem, Jabbar,David Robinson...) shooting, and not mention to other skills.

Sorry the evolution of the game is garbage. European player are becoming common in the League DUE to the subpar skill sets of American players coming into the League. Athleticism and some talent but little no fundamentals nor consistent play for almost a decade(99-07) Few great players but the vast majority are projects. The European developmental systems nation by nation are superior to the US. Look at the rosters today and tell me how many great players play today versus playing 20 years ago.
The majority of European players are mediocre in the League. Stop looking at Gasol and Okur. How many are truly great players? Nowitizki can shoot but scores mostly from the elbows. No presence as a playmaker, on the boards or defensively. Has alot of flaws in his game. Turkoglu is not exceptional without great players playing with him. Was a bench player most of his career. The foreign game is not as good as media tells you if you actually look at it as a whole and not just what is shown.

Many aspects of individual and team play is missing due to lack of player development at the grassroots level in the US due to the overplay of exposure events. How are players better? Being faster does not neccessarily mean you have more skill and taletn. Look at the rosters of these teams not just the stars. Even some of the stars have serious flaws. Most of these players have poor footwork on offense and defense. Handful of talented post players(not bigs. Players that have post games). Alot of players can crossover and that is it. Mid range game is little to none. Open lanes allow for easy baskets. No handchecking allows players to roam freely.
The trait that Kobe has that I like the most is his dedication. He trains constantly to improve his skills. Not many players despite the fact they are being payed to play this game are this focused. Do not like how he plays sometimes. Should be without a shadow of doubt the best player in the League no question even with Lebron(has serioius skill flaws)

Too many projects in the League. In Jordan's day you had to be able to produce from training camp. Today you have to wait a year or 2 for a player to be effective on average.

Kobe did carry the Lakers into the playoffs but did not lead them against past the Suns for 2 seasons. Kobe should have torched the Suns during those seasons. Stoudemire was injured in 06 making it easier. Scores 50 in game 6 and then does not take a shot in the 2nd half of game 7 and the Lakers lose. What is wrong with this picture? That type of game is what Kobe lives for. No one on the Suns could guard him and they play no defense whatsoever. He played well but not what he should have.
His injury(14 games) and Odoms injury(10 games) simultaneously kept the Lakers out of the playoffs in 05. The Lakers were the 7th seed in the West went they were injured. What approach are you referring too? Playing a complete is more effective and imporant than focusing on 1 facet. The 81 point game is a marvel but has an asterisk. It was against arguably the weakest team in the League. True it is unbelievable but most of Kobe's highest scoring games have been against weak teams and after hand checking was prohibited and the 3 second rule was enacted. kobe plays in an offensive era. no handchecking,3 seconds, 8sec backcourt. the way they call the game on the perimeter is very tight so defenders are forced to play loose. kobe has alot of space to create shots and drive to the basket. also kobe playing with shaq still wasnt able to average at least 1 season shooting 50% from the floor. id like to see kobe play 1 season in the physical taxing era of the 80's and 90's. kobe doesnt take a pounding like jordan did.

If game was called consistently when people Guard Kobe (Just as they did with MJ) then Kobe has edge over MJ in my opinion, Kobe is more of NBA's Villan now days, he has also gone through LOT more adversity then Mj in my Opinion and kept prevailing and in my opinion he has been the best player in NBA for LONG TIME now..Longer then most give him credit for that's for sure.

Kobe has Knowledge and mental Edge in Bball especially when game is called Fairly, and point of fair calling is VERY important when assessing Kobes game, when NBA does not want to see Kobe succeed they simply will ALLOW opponent to Hit Kobes hand 0.5 sec after Kobe releases his shot ..since Kobe is a follow through shooter this makes lot harder on him to shoot..sometimes he will get hit on the hand blatantly with no Call..at other times u breath on him when he shoots its a foul, ....

No, Kobe didn't. His best in playoffs is 32 pts only. MJ did, in 1986 playoffs he had 43.7pts. Then Bulls swept by Celtics.
T-Mac also had made 40+ in playoffs in magic.
In fact, Kobe mostly makes lower points in playoffs according to his career stat.
Kobe can score 81 pts, yap. But overall he is not a better offense player than Mike.
MJ could keep his avg. PPG season by season, 7 straight, 3 straight, and makes more points in playoffs. He is much more effective and stable

First, 80s games are way faster than today's games. And the player bigger started 90s because everyone and his brothers started building muscles.
In MJ's era, palyers are higher than todays', and there were great centers out there(today?), in low post was much more difficult to score.

Oneal is a great center, but he is nothing to compare with Hakeem. Oneal is a monster from 1993 to 2002.

Actually those centers in 80s,90s are also very good st mid-range. Gasol is good but he can't compare to Ewing's(or Hakeem, Jabbar,David Robinson...) shooting, and not mention to other skills.
LBJ is born to be a beast, just like Oneal, but I think Wade is the best to drive in today's NBA. He's better than LBJ but he's shorter.
Big guys and PF, SF ruled the 80s,90s NBA, but now, it's SG rule the NBA.

Sorry the evolution of the game is garbage. European player are becoming common in the League DUE to the subpar skill sets of American players coming into the League. Athleticism and some talent but little no fundamentals nor consistent play for almost a decade(99-07) Few great players but the vast majority are projects. The European developmental systems nation by nation are superior to the US. Look at the rosters today and tell me how many great players play today versus playing 20 years ago.

The majority of European players are mediocre in the League. Stop looking at Gasol and Okur. How many are truly great players? Nowitizki can shoot but scores mostly from the elbows. No presence as a playmaker, on the boards or defensively. Has alot of flaws in his game. Turkoglu is not exceptional without great players playing with him. Was a bench player most of his career. The foreign game is not as good as media tells you if you actually look at it as a whole and not just what is shown.

Yes players are better than they are now. Many aspects of individual and team play is missing due to lack of player development at the grassroots level in the US due to the overplay of exposure events. Phil Jackson himself stated that MJ would have scored 45 a game in toda'ys NBA. Really, who could possibly do anyting to him defensively? He was an All Star at 39 and 40 with no lift on a bad knee and inactive for 3 years. Let's see Kobe top that.

Mike has more 50 and 40 points game, more scoring titles, averaged more points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks while shooting higher percantage from the field in a better era of basketball. Skill set wise there is no clear cut case to support Bryant. Kobe scored most of his 50+ scoring games(20 games) AFTER hand checking was banned and the 3 second rule was enacted.

Kobe scored most of his highest games against weak defensive teams. Jordan scored a considerable number of his games against playoff and top defenisive teams. Check it out for yourself. Kobe has shot less than 40% from the field for 1/3 of his career games regular season and playoffs. Sorry there is not excuse for that.

HHAATTERRR!!!! Against Dallas in 2005-2006 Played 33 minutes, sat out 4th quarter, outscored Dallas alone through three quarters, 62-61. And Dallas went to the Finals that year. So I think Dallas was a good team. And there are a lot of games against good defensive teams where he had high scores

How are players better? Being faster does not neccessarily mean you have more skill and taletn. Look at the rosters of these teams not just the stars. Even some of the stars have serious flaws. Most of these players have poor footwork on offense and defense. Handful of talented post players(not bigs. Players that have post games). Alot of players can crossover and that is it. Mid range game is little to none. Open lanes allow for easy baskets. No handchecking allows players to roam freely.

Most of the League are average Europeans and undeveloped 1 and done players.Some of the stars have flaws. Lebron still has the same weaknesses as before.Howard is all athleticism.Little to no ball skill.Nash is good but not a true superstar.D'Antoni's system made him what he is.Iverson is a Hall of Fame talent but cannot play with a team.Anthony is talented but immature and cannot defend.Yao is soft and cannot carry a team.McGradys injuries have ruined his career(not blaming him for that).

i agree with you in some things, but you cannot deny, in any sort of way, that kobe is one of the greatest to ever play the game. it is true that he prefers to shoot rather than pass, which is why some people consider him selfish, but he is a great defender, has become a great leader and has tremendous skills. and although it's true that the rules are different, in jordan's time zone defense wasn't allowed, and kobe has to play against zone defenses all the time

Kobe is an hall of famer. Never said he was not. His skill set is unbelievably high. The way he plays the game is the issue. He has played selfishly in the past but is not as selfish anymore. Not a consistent great defender anymore. A good defender that can still be elite at times. The zone defense argument is overrated. No team runs a complete zone or majority. Coaches and players despise it as a insult to their abilities and it is. Zone defenses are gimmicks to compensate for weak defenders.

Kobe did carry the Lakers into the playoffs but did not lead them against past the Suns for 2 seasons. Kobe should have torched the Suns during those seasons. Stoudemire was injured in 06 making it easier. Scores 50 in game 6 and then does not take a shot in the 2nd half of game 7 and the Lakers lose. What is wrong with this picture? That type of game is what Kobe lives for. No one on the Suns could guard him and they play no defense whatsoever. He played well but not what he should have.

His injury(14 games) and Odoms injury(10 games) simultaneously kept the Lakers out of the playoffs in 05. The Lakers were the 7th seed in the West went they were injured. Kobe shot under his average for that season(?) but had 4-5 triple doubles, a career high in assists and snatched 6 boards too. Displayed more of a complete game consistently instead of focusing on scoring.

What approach are you referring too? Playing a complete is more effective and imporant than focusing on 1 facet. Kobe has accomplished alot and he is a Hall of Fame talent but he is not where he should be for his talent. Why do you think people in and out basketball are against him? He has done alot of questionable things on and off the court that tarnishes his legacy. He has played selfishly considerably in the past. He has played unselfishly that has gone unnoticed. The 81 point game is a marvel but has an asterisk. It was against arguably the weakest team in the League. True it is unbelievable but most of Kobe's highest scoring games have been against weak teams and after hand checking was prohibited and the 3 second rule was enacted. This effected every player not just Kobe but he has benefited from it tremendously. There is an article called the Death of Defense. Kobe requires defensive adjustments which is a mark of a elite player but also forces alot of unnecessary shots, gambles too much on defense, takes plays off(unacceptable). Plays either above himself or beneath himself. Not constant.

Beauty is not the most imporant part of the game performance is. How many times has Kobe hit a couple of unbelievable shots in a game but overall shoots 12-30? This is acceptable to you? Sorry I hold great players to great standards. Sometimes he meets them. Sometimes he does not. Jordan always met mine. Magic, Bird, Kareem, Wilt, Robertson. The best ball Kobe ever played in my opinion was in the 2001 playoffs at 23 years old. Dominated on both sides of the ball against the 2 other top teams in the League(Kings. Spurs). Shot poorly in the Finals but rebounded, dished and defended well. Jordanesque performance. Has not had a playoff like that since then and it is not due to talent.

Jordan had a better 40 and 100m than Kobe, Jordan's FG% is at least 5% higher than Kobe's. Kobe's 3-pt% is not that much higher than Jordan's.
Keep in mind that these are just regular season stats and that Kobe's shooting percentage takes a dip in the playoffs, Jordan's didn't dip as much.

Actually, Kobe was aggressive on this game. 7-17FG + 26FT (which could be 13FGA at most assuming that there were no penalty fouls and 3P-FGA) so it's actually like he had 30FGA at most in this game, if you're including the shots he got fouled when shooting.

kobes is near jordans phyiscal nor athletic level. kobes body wouldnt hold up playing in the 80's or 90's. kobe is protected play under these weak rules which prevent injury and stress on the body. i would like to see kobe put up 80 or just a 40 point game against the bird celtics, isaiah pistons, pat rileys knicks and heat. kobe would have a tough time averaging 20 in jordans era.

Kobe is VERY athletic. I am sure he isn't as physical, but he can play the whole game if needed.
The other side is that Jordan would have to be more of a pure shooter with how the rules have changed. So both would be different.

just a couple more things to add on. note that kobe never avgeraged one season shooting 50+ percent from the floor. even playing along side shaq he still couldnt manage to shoot 50%. jordan without a shaq type pressence to draw double teams while playing in the toughest defensive era in terms of rules and how they called games managed to shoot well over 50% and for his career avg. nearly 50%.jordan put up 50 and 60's consistently against some of the toughest defenses ever.knicks,pistions,celtics

kobe plays in an offensive era. no handchecking,3 seconds, 8sec backcourt. the way they call the game on the perimeter is very tight so defenders are forced to play loose. kobe has alot of space to create shots and drive to the basket. also kobe playing with shaq still wasnt able to average at least 1 season shooting 50% from the floor. id like to see kobe play 1 season in the physical taxing era of the 80's and 90's. kobe doesnt take a pounding like jordan did.
