  • The reasons the U.S stopped using 2 toned sirens is because people would ignore them. They had to switch to something that would catch the attention of people, even if it meant making them uncomfortable.

  • Lovely!

  • I really like the 2 tone sirens, wish all emergency vehicles used them. In the usa sirens are not kind to the ears. Are drivers to pull to the side of the road &/or at a light stand still when Emergency Vehicles are approaching?

  • @HigherWaysWoman - Legally they dont have to move out of the way or wait at junctions, its entirely done as a courtesy. Blues & siren is only a warning of their presence, it dont grant automatic right of way, and if emergency vehicle is involved in a collision when going through a junction (against the lights) the emergency driver is totally at fault, regardless of wether they're in a rig headin to a fire, or transportin cardiac victim, and the dumb shit who wasnt payin attention gets a new car

  • @markthebusman thank you so very much for replying. I wish we had thez regulation in the US. There's a real problem w/ambulance drivers, & police as well, believing they r so highly important & every1 should yield to them & thus caus'g "numerous" accidents. No matter what...it's "always" the other driver who is @ fault. They get a new car huh...hmmmm *winks 'n chuckles* :-P enjoyed meet'g 'n chat'g w/u, mark. "always" take care 'n much sex I mean "Blessings" yeah thats it..to you LOL!*blushes*

  • @HigherWaysWoman In the UK in the 1960s we called the two tone horns a "Klaxon".

  • we need these sirens back! the new ones aren't any better.

  • Cool! To my opinion, pneumatic sirens are way better than any electronic one...

  • Almost sounds like a single "Martins Horn" instead of the duels used on most German and French trucks.

  • Are there any agencies in Ireland or the UK which still use these 2nd interval sirens?

  • @Audinos, yes only seen Dublin Fire Brigade's D102 (Tara St) a few days ago and this was also using the 2-tone siren, alot of Civil Defence appliances still have them as they are cheaper to buy than electronic sirens

  • manchester police are still using these sirens lol

  • Cork City Fire Brigade still use them

  • Lovely old siren!

  • I like it! Classical siren! :D :P

  • is this an Irish or British ambulance?

  • Its Irish, ex-Dublin Airport Fire Service

Well, the bodywork is Irish, obviously its a Ford so its on an English chassis!! :-)

  • This sould be Fiamm Siren from Italy which have double tone by two horn and hose connect to a Fan blower.

  • Thats correct its a Fiamm Series 2000 siren

  • God help us old.

    That isnt old school!

    That is just plain acient!

  • Whilst the sirens may be ancient, the ambulance can still shift! - not many 19 year old Transits with a 3.0 V6 petrol engines in them!

  • V6 engine in a Transhit?

    Bull!!!

  • Not bullshit my friend! Have a look at my other videos, have a clip of the engine there

  • these are the best

  • cool irish accent i lost mine when i came up north

  • hahaha oh thee old two tones ;)

  • "Wow,two tone horns and a 2.9L, V6 petrol,what more could one want."

A new exhaust silencer and a passenger door perhaps...? :-D

Cheers for the comment, much appreciated - MTB

  • the dutch ambu's have 3 tone and v8 +- 260HP

  • Are these working by fully electronic sound, or some kind of pressure-air horns operated electonically? Whats the model year of that van?

  • They are 24V compressor operated trumpets, abseloutely no electronics on these baby's - apart from a positive and negative connection on the compressor! Compressor has 2 air outlets (for each note) which blow air through the tubes connected to the trumpets (high/low) on the roof, hence the genuine old style "mee-maw" sound. The ambulance itself is a 1990 Ford Transit (ex-Dublin Airport Fire Service) fitted with a 2.9 litre V6 petrol engine, basically it's a very, very fast Transit!

  • 3 tone is better but i still love the 2 tone

  • Sounds louder than the sirens in UK in nowdays!

  • Thats proberly because they are believe me!! i stood next to an old ambulance with the Two tones and then next to a police car with the wailer and the two tones were louder!!!

  • I am wondering when will the two tones appears again? No matter in UK, Singapore or Hong Kong

  • we use hi-lo...does that count??

like in my 油壓升降台 video. (Scania)

  • Hong Kong used old two tones b4 year 2000

  • oic. I was young still ahaha

  • But didn't used on the police vehicles

  • UK still use two tones on fire engines and some vans

  • This is a classic British 2nd-interval siren. You don't hear these much anymore, except on French fire brigade vehicles.

  • @Audinos I live falmouth (cornwall) and there is an old mercedes fire appliance which has the old 2 tone siren (the truck is about 10-15 years old now)

  • GREAT SIREN!!:)
