  • Goodness... they say Christapha?!

LUCKY, I wonder what my name sounds like in an English accent. DANG! :\

  • Is that his sister Angela I see in the background? I LOVE her character haha! Poor Christopher, I would have a mental breakdown if that many people where calling my name lol!

  • The books are REALLY good, especially Eldest, but for some reason I've felt like I've read it all before.

  • book was great the film was shit

  • "Christopha! Christopha! Don't watch it, it's fucking horibble! Please no. Don't! Fuck! He went in."

  • @GunRyd3r Don't worry, I watched his interview, he said he really liked it.

  • CHRISTOPHUH!

  • i wish garrett could have been at the premiere but i heard he broke his arm snowboarding and couldn't go...ahhhhhhhhh..*all the garrett fangirls sigh*

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO POOR GARRET :[[

  • i know!!!!

  • okay so he's a geek, i mean seriously (heard the dude talk latley?) but he's kinda cute and has great lips!!

  • His use of a Thesaurus is legendary.

  • I lol at how they say 'Christopher' 'Cristohpah!' lol!

  • I like the book and the movie. . .=)

  • i liked the books. the movie was okay but they took out WAY too much shit.

  • Agreed! Inheritance is just Star Wars and LOTR all glued together. I'd actually be impressed with this "child prodigy" if he could come up with something original, but no. Plus, he seems pretty smug about himself. Not a good combo.

  • how...exactly...is it about star wars and LOTR? please elaborate...

  • Eragon/Anakin is called away from his humble beginnings as a farm boy to fight against a corrupt empire. Brom/Obi Wan acts as his mentor. He has shocking family relations with the traitors Murtagh and Morzan who are his brother and FATHER! Oromis is yoda, an ancient one of the old order that will train Eragon to fight.

    That's the Star Wars half.

  • LOTR half:There are the immortal elves of astounding beauty who for some reason have to sail into the west because they are "fading". Arya/Arwen is the black-haired love interest/princess of Eragon/Aragorn. Then there are the urgals/orcs who serve as evil empire minions to the Dark King we never see. Orik/Gimli is the short dwarf sidekick who weilds an axe and belongs to a clan of mineaholics. The Raz'ac are Nazgul, beasts who dress in black cloaks and ride on enormous flying beasts.

  • I never thought of it to that extent but you are really right. There characters are practically the same, expect for their personalities. But i still love the Inheritance Cycle, because it is a great adventure and a good story.

  • except for the tedious brisinger of course

  • And much much more....just not enough room in the comment bubbles, but you get the gist I think.

  • yah but lets see if u can write a book that is a newyork best seller and has it's own (crapy) movie

  • It kinda helped that his parents were publishers. Lucky break, if you ask me.

  • @CaramelChai His parents weren't publishers, they just owned a printing press. Chris was selling it out of the back of dad's truck.

  • if u look realy close @ the LOTRs maps u can pick out a few names that if altered slightly.... turn out 2 b some of the names from the series

  • i find this a similar thing with the Shannara trilogy by Terry Brooks, his storyline is VERY (scarily) similar to the LOTR storyline...

  • swimrox...CP got most of his names for cities from old Norse words and places. Just because LOTR did doesn't make it copyrighted. I'm sure he didn't sit down with a manuscript of SW and say, hey, if I write this with dragons it'll be a best selller. And Caramel, his parents being publishers didn't make it a NYT best seller and one of the most popular books today. How you get started has nothing to do with how succesfull you do.

  • i agree with bwhitedaisy but in a nicer way the books were great but the movie ruined it

  • him making eragon a fag ruined it.

  • i dont think it ruined it, i just think the movie sucked; i still like the books

  • i still like the books to they were great:) they just changed everything in the movie:(

  • starwars can suck my balls over eragon/eldest/the 3rd book

  • his writing is good it's fluid that is why he is popular not so much for new ideas

  • gosh, all that for another cliche book and movie. Eragon isn't very genuine to me.

  • Lol, he looks like some cheap version of mister Potter :D

  • lol gtfo the internet you slag

  • i dont like him now because because i just found out that the only reason his book got punlished is because his parents own a publishing company

  • not completly true the first edison got published because of his parents but it didnt go far the edision we know to day is from a diffrent publishing compainy ...random house inc

which is a huge company not a local comany like the paolini's

  • It just proves that he got to the top out of luck, not talent!

  • Yeah? And...? They still like had to move house in hopes that his book would get published. And how do you think that must have been? When they could have dried all the money on publishing a book that no-one wanted to read?

  • and he is promoting it everywhere

real bestsellers don't need no promotion

  • I like the eragon books. for some one so young he is a really good author i think people who say he's bad forgett how young he is.

I also think the film is really good the actors are great it was a lot better than i expected and it could have been a lot worse.

The only critism i have is that these books are really lord of the ringsy.

  • Love the book, can't stand the film -_-

I won't say anymore then that though, because the film is good to encourage people to read the books. However, I wasn't so keen...

  • yeah I agree they didn't leave anything open for an eldest movie. a lot of the important events were left out.

  • i agree i like the books too but sometimes i just think aaargh another duplicate of another book you know?

  • yeah, but there isnt much room for original writing these days. i dont think you should take a book off of what it was "copying" but rather how the story is told. i see what youre saying though

  • There is tons of room for original writing.

The author or writer just needs to open their mind and let their imagination take control. I think most authors today, like this Paolini guy are just lazy and can't be bothered to think of something new so they just copy off another book, change the characters and claim it is theirs.

  • ...lazy?.. dude, do you know how hard this guy worked on this book? you cant call him lazy. and what youre saying is much easier said than done. i can see where youre coming from, but cmon. cut him some slack

  • Did you know that his book was self published? NO publishing company would have taken his book seriously if he had gone to them, They would have rejected him immedietely! his book isn't even as sophisticated as lets say Harry Potter which is full of twists and turns... writing about a boy finding an egg and becoming a dragon rider doesn't sound like hard work to me. Harry Potter on the other hand...is what i call..HARD WORK!

  • yeah, his family slef-published it; that was until Knopf found out about it. AND THEY LIKED IT! dumbshit. and if you dont like the book, then why the hell are you watching this?

  • yeah they liked it and a crap movie was made from it. The eragon book isn't anything special niether is this paolini guy. But i'm not going round telling people not to read the book , im just making a point. Anyway i don't get why you are so fascinated by this guy or his shit book anyway?

  • fuck off shitbag

  • who was talking to you?? fuck off!!

  • the book was good the movie sucked if you don,t like inherintace fuck off

  • I don't give a shit about your fucking little opinion!! go tell it to someone who fucking cares!! in the mean time, keep your shitty little nose out of other peoples fucking business fag!!

  • the movie wasnt his fault, dumbshit. im fascinated because i like the books (just because someone disagrees with you, doesnt make them wrong). and your "making a point" doesnt make any sense to the people who actually like the book. your just a jerk who for some reason doesnt want people to read what they want. you arent proving a point, youre making an ass-hole out of yourself.

  • anyway you can continue reading the books. im not telling anyone not to read them. this video is infact the premiere for the shit movie not the book. Everyone knows what "original writing" is and what "cheap rip offs" are.....

  • I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, and It is that very sries that introduced me to the amazing and rewarding world of reading, and even though eragon isn't as deep as Harry Potter is, you can't say it was not a good book, of course you do not have to like it, it's a matter of opinion, but this man wrote eragon when he was but 15, and self published it, and many many people loved it, and fell in love with the series, and that, itself, is a huge accomplishment.

  • you're right about everyone saying that he's bad forrgetting his age. a young author (wannabe) as well. I hate people who say you can't write. they're wrong smetimes you can write you just can't bring your skill far enough above your age level.

  • I love you Chris! The movie Eragon totally ruined it all, I hope they burn in hell for destroying such a lovely story with a mediocre movie!

  • I agree, the bloody movie ruined the book completely. If I was Christopher Paolini reviewing the movie, i'd have burnt it there on the spot.

  • NERDS WILL RULE THE WORLD!!

    WE LOVE YOU CHRIS!!

Gosh, he's awsome. He's hot in a nerdy way.

  • are you gonna blame him for that? i would agreed about that if the names was lyke skywalker and all that but now it is not! and i dont think he gives a fuck what u think! talk with him about it.

  • i dont get this hole star wars sh*t cuz it has nothing to do with the books or the movie. and why u say its crap? try to make a book urself this good! ill expect it soon! :P

  • a young farmboy living with his uncle, a princess on the run from the empire, the farmboy gets ahold of something the empire wants, his uncle gets killed, he meets Brom/Ben who trains him and later Brom/Ben dies, farmboy rescues the princess from the imperial fortress, farmboy goes with princess to the rebels where they end with a big battle against the empire's forces at the rebel base. Need I go on?

  • And in the next book he's trained in a forest/Dagobah by an old dragonrider/Jedi while the old rebel base is swarmed. The rebels set up a new base, and have a battle. DUring the battle Eragon loses in a lightsaber/sword duel and is revealed that the forsworn guy/Darth Vader is his father. His sword/saber is taken. It also rips off elements from LOTR.

  • My friend Chad said the same :]

  • his books are crap, not original, totally liek star wars mixed with LoTR and his diaolugue in the story is crap as hell. he should get a life. this kid is nowhere near average writer.

  • It's about time that someone told the plain and simple truth!

  • If if alot of people said his writing was indeed "crap", it's ridiculous for you to say he should "get a life". It shows how immature you are, he has a life writing, doing what he loves, even if his writing isn't appreciated among everyone. I'd rather have no life being a succesful amateur writer than have an ABSOLUTLELY AMAZING LIFE talking trash on youtube.

  • god, he's gross...

  • "Christopher, Christopher, Christopher!"

    God damn it, people!

    Leave the kid alone!

  • Anyone who has read a /good/ book knows Christopher Paolini is a slightly below average writer. I'd expect most literate fifteen years olds to churn out something more original, and far better written.

  • Maybe more original, but well written? Do you know what that means? Thats like saying Dune isn't well written.

  • I said better written, not well written.

  • Lol I think George Lucas Should Sue this Kid.

  • Nah I think SEGA should sue this kid, its more of a rip off of panzer dragoon saga than star wars although the whole "eragon i am your brother" crap was so definitely star wars

  • i think i'd have to scream in my name got shouted all the time like that.

  • I have to say I've read Eragon and Eldest, and this kid is amazing. He must have read fantasy novels non-stop for 15 years to get this good. I'm not into that genre-always preferred science fiction. But he's got me into it.

  • hes a good writer, i dont think anyone has pointed that out in this comment section

  • No he's not. It's all purple prose.

  • dum nerd alright...i even noticed he described Eragon on his own image -_-

  • Nerd who is famous.

  • lol sorta geeky but in a cute way....and i got the chance to meet him which was so cool...and he signed my books

  • aw. poor thing. he's a nerd.

  • i don't want to sound rude, but christopher paoliny really sucks. i can't believe he has fans i england, if a book so bad like that is famous in a finger snap, then i can write crap too and publish it, and i will become millionare right away.
