Very nice! just 2 problems. I built this and it worked perfectly on every mob! Except for normal and cave spiders. Also with the New AI's coming out in 1.2, the zombies wont just walk into their own trap. But it is still very good for passive mobs because even though they will have new AI's as well, they will go anywhere you go if you are holding wheat so just stand above the trap with wheat to keep those cows coming!

I'm looking for the perfect looting machine that can trap, kill, and collect loot from all animals and mobs. And this video was of no help. What I've learned from numerous painful building sessions is that you cannot use lava because it will burn most of the loot. And certainly not the way shown in this video. The method I used, which ran lava up until two blocks away from where water stops, with a gap right in the middle, is more reliable but also burns some loot.

@grineti5 Lava flows out three spaces, so you have to place the lava three blocks back. Ladders can also stop water and lava from flowing over.

@supercisco6000 lol!!! i have cactus walls with water current on outside (cactus kills the spiders) the mods drop into a pit blocked by glass with water falling into it but the glass is on the second square in height so it stops them from passing but the water can (with the drops) i found this method on youtube i forget who made it but SEARCH "how to get lots of tnt on minecraft" or something like that he shows you how to build the trap :D

@fishy488 traps can be tricky for a few reasons, i've been tampering with a water trap that's wide, and now a tower trap that's tall. some things that bugger up the farming

1. water currents not pulling items to you

2. water currents not pulling mobs to death.

3. mobs not spawning

4. mobs not moving into trap.

sounds like you have problem 2.

make sure the water current is pushing them either a. into the lava, or b. under the drowning trap.

@Whalecake shouldnt if it's on easy. normal or hard they may, this is fixable by raising the water level right below the lava so only 1 space to fit in.

the downside is that if you fall in and have nothing to get back out your dead :P (since only 1x1x1's fit nicely :))
