  • “No man knows less than the man who knows it all”

  • Its a bar not a fuckin blade.

  • Mixing chain oil and gas? Why not!

  • always check the chain tention on the bottom of the bar.

also when tighting the bar up you need to put down pressure on the bar its self.

easist way is to hold the nose of the bar under somthing and lift up on the handle and then tighten the nuts.

you need to seriously read the manual.

dont call this 'how a chainsaw works" it only shows the chain and a few other things.. all of what you clearly know not much about.

  • that wasnt how a chainsaw works... O.o you only showed you fixing the chain and putting gas into it -_-

  • There's NOTHING Wrong w/Stihl Saws (& nothing could be further from accurate, they are the BEST Chain Saws MONEY Can BUY....

    Operators?

    Now there's another story entirely.

You SCARE Me to Death as a supposed 'expert' advising others on how to do it not only WRONG, but out right DANGEROUSLY! See below if You are the slightest bit CONFUSED? Lord help those who follow Your lead. INFORMATION is Power...a "little" information, can be Horrific.

    1-Get an owners manual

    2-READ IT.

    3-RePeat #2.

  • 1-Don't use a Rachet on Chain Bar Nuts. 2-ALWAYS Wear GLOVES When handling CHAINS. 3-ALWAYS TOP OFF BAR OIL With Fuel fill...adjust flow (Screw on Bottom) so that Fuel and Bar Oil Run OUT at the same time. 4-ALWAYS Wear Eye Protection. 5-ALWAYS Wear EAR Protection 6-ALWAYS Wear Head Protection 7-ALWAYS USE Factory Supplied TOOL for the Job 8-NEVER Drop Start Saws 9-When You FAIL at ALL of above, RE-READ THE OPERATORS MANUAL! <---(IF I Could UNDERLINE That, I WOULD!) YOU ARE DANGEROUS.
  • thay let you use a chain saw wow

  • shouldnt drop start your saw...

  • slow down!

  • the reason that the chain loosen up when putting the nuts back on if you hold the tip up that wont happen, Not bashing you just wish some one told me when i was learning

  • You need a scrench

  • since when has a chainsaw had a blade ??? its called a bar . if you dont know the correct name why are you using a chainsaw ?

  • its called a bar not a blade weekend saw warrior

  • I lke beer.

  • don't waist your time on this

  • i always refuel my bar and chain oil when i refuel my fuel tank on my saws.

  • pick up on the end of your bar. it will help your chain tightness and your bar out when its in the log. and there's resistance on it.

  • you are worthless at chainsaws! you having the chain wayy to tight

  • You have no idea what you are doing man. You done half of it wrong.

  • @odjebiuskokovima Dude, he is cool, let it go.

Stihl is the number one selling saw in the gay community.

  • @XLHomelite thats husqvarna ur talking about

  • @modelshidden2 the husky was used at every single gay pride event in his-tory. Look up video

    'Lumberjack' by Jackyl.

BTW, never bend over around a husky owner.

  • @XLHomelite damn thats the dead on truth there

  • Very helpful video and the tips stand the test of time - especially for chainsaw first timers like myself. Thanks!

  • He is gonna lose a leg startin it like that... and this is slightly painful to see. i use the ms 260 FB, never had a problem with it. :D stihl FTW!

  • good machine! is a 038? I have a 038 with a blade of 29 "! told me she would not take it, but it is well to six years and gave me no problems, even with large trees!

  • Is that an 028super? Fine fine saw. I saw a like new on go for its new price 450$ and the saw was almost 20years old. I used one of these for years for firewood and climbing and let me tell you it took much wear and ran well for years.

  • I wanted to kindly ask for information, I own a new chainsaw STIHL MS 250, I noticed that the level of lubricant in the chain goes down very slowly (after finishing a fuel tank is still in the middle), I wanted to ask if this normal, I was told which is a characteristic of chain saws STIHL consume very little oil, but it seems strange when you use a tank of fuel should not end lubricant? Who can tell me something? The saw is brand new, however, simply do not trust the dealer!

  • it's perfectly normal.

all my saws, including my MS 250 uses around a half a tank of oil per tank of fuel

    haven't had a single problem.

  • heya, yes as the other guy said basicaly, it is normal to run out of fuel befor u run out of petrol.

  • It was a joke you fool xD

  • Is that the newest chainsaw on the marked? xD

  • Listen closely,

"been running for about fifteen years"

    So, no.

  • I think this video is at least 20 years old ! This is new Husky technology though ! LMFAO ! !

  • Stihl chainsaws are I think about the best on the market. Watch a timber competition and see what they are running. Never seen a Husqvarna or homelite used in a lumber camp either. I do think you have the chain too tight, you should be able to almost pull the chain guide out of the track. The trick is to check the chain each and every time you add fuel and oil, add both at the same time. The saw is designed to run out of gas before you run out of bar oil. Keeps the chain and bar from wearing.

  • is that why 90% of the saws in the World Championships are Husky's?

  • Can' t answer that one. Every lumber competition I have ever watched, and the lumber mill I worked at in Texas, only had 1 kind of chainsaw, and they were all Stihl. I haven't seen every competition, but I do know what was used at the ones I have. I have had my Stihl saw for about 7 yrs, have used it to cut wood for several households and have trimmed dozens of trees, it always starts and cuts without any problems in any weather. You must be watching those foreign shows like wishiwasaredneck

  • Yes, it is a scrench, and he needs one-or he'll strip out the bar studs. It is a bar-not a blade. You have the open spur sprocket-what I call the "castration special" in memory of a guy I met that had his private parts mangled. Replace it with the "floating rim system", for increased safety, lower maintenance costs and it won't damage the chain when the chain is thrown. Always fill up the oil when fueling.

  • Pour tendre la chaine on tiens le guide chaine en position haute monsieur ! vous donnez des conseils mais n'avez sans doute pas énormément coupé de bois ! ! !

  • thats a old saw the new wons you dont need a tool

  • i personally think that that chain is way to tight for the saw. im surprised that you dont have a new bar on that saw. plus when you re-fuel your saw w the 50:1 fuel then you re-fuel the bar and chain reservoir.

  • If you run your chainsaw on high-octane racing gas or Aviation gas, it starts like a champ every time, plus it runs cooler & at a lower rpm.

  • for some reasons, I'm scared of a chainsaw.. =[

  • ach du scheise#

über 5 minuten für kette spannen und tanken....

  • I have found the best way for getting right tightness on a chain is to pull up on chain about midway through the bar and tighten it till the bottom of one tooth is just outside the bar chainway. this is tight enough for the chain to stay on but loose enough for nonrestricted chain movement. I also take issue with calling the bar a blade. and when you mix your oil it is best to use 2 cycle at 50 to 1 mix

  • Man that's an old school Stihl. Either way, great saws. I have an Stihl MS-310 and it's the best saw I've ever handled.

  • Then try Husqvarna and you will never say that again.

  • I have friends with those husqvarna wannabe saws, if they are so good, why do they always want to borrow my stihl? At least until they buy their own stihl.

  • @deadwoodjohn71 Not a huge fan of Husqvarna, but I own both a Stihl and Husqvarna and some bullshit other one. The Stihl one, the handle broke on it, but it was an easy fix. The Husqvarna one hates hot weather, but it has more power than the Stihl.

The other? The whole thing is a piece of shit.

  • The wrench he's talkin about is called a "scrench" and yea it's a way niftier tool than a bulky ratchet and screwdriver to stab ya through you're pants you can just put a scrench in your back pocket and forget about it. Not to knock your video either but if you fill the tank with fuel you should always fill the bar oil tank at the same time so you don't burn your bar up on accident! Usually you got through a tank of bar oil for every tank of fuel! but good video for people who don't know much

  • o wow i got the same one...kewl

  • I ask questions to the real experts... strait-up just like this...I'v got a bar that's got some 3-4 inch long, concave worn spots in my bar

"small spots".. but, never the less.. it is newer..can I grind it level to a degree. and if so will my root keepers run hot and burn out within the bar...? it sure looks like the first grind on the bar...?

  • hey i am no super expert but i service and repair a lot of them, you did say small, depending on how small you could still run it as it is but i would not recommend you grind down your bar to even out these dents how ever small - know as slapping, this is due to a slack chain, so next time tighten that chain up a little more.

  • 2 the depth on your chain guides and drive link could not fit properly and could could cause a de-rail (come off) if you haven't experienced a chain coming off at 50mph i wouldn't recommend it.

so on the safe side get a new one, not worth risking you life for the sake of £30

    Hope this helps you out.

  • its not a "blade" its a bar. the bar is not sharp

  • it can be if its got burs on it =D

  • This complete dick should show (if he knows!) how to start up a chainsaw in the correct safe manner.I'm totally disgusted with this idiot.

  • Chain jump is your fault...Or the preventative maintenance has been neglected always do a good look over at the saw before using,, Know your saw inside out...

  • Ignore randomlaughingman he tried to get a petition to the UK government to ban lawnmowers etc, and he only got about 8 signatures lol, he is one crazy mofo

  • the only crazy anywhere is what allows inferior noisy tech to ever have been made, and the type of society that fails to notice how dangerously insane scum like you are and to properly remove your kind from at least any kind of contact with anyone at all.

sane people hear or read truth, and they agree. they don't perpetuate the lies that noise pollution is an ok thing.

  • also, unlike actually depraved insane scum like you buzzlips, this is an exception for me - i don't normally go to videos about things i already know are wrong anyway. it's just that this video showed up when i searched for something entirely different. see, unlike you, sane people don't seek out conflict with others. but i'm not a liar either, so i don't look the other way if i do see something that is wrong. no-one else is going to say anything so i will.

  • Why dont you keep off these channells if you dont like them

  • a sane person doesn't ask questions in response to a comment that already answered the very question they asked.

a sane person would also have noticed they spend all their online life going to videos just to post abuse about people who are much cleverer and more worthy than they can hope to be ever, and would kill themselves from the shame of being so inferior. so why haven't you done so yet buzzlips, should be the question on your chainsaw-buzzed lips.

  • Guys--do yourself a favor and wear some basic safety gear--safety glasses and a pair of chaps minimum. The average chainsaw cut is 80 stitches, usually just above the left knee, it very well could be the best $75 bucks you ever spent, so save yourself some grief, and maybe your life. Arborist 5yr.

  • dil hai tumhara movie

  • Its a bar not a blade, sorry its a per peeve of mine, oh and by the way lewis, the clutches on stihls are in the saw body not exposed like every other brand, it makes chain/bar removal much quicker

  • Great saw, but I think you have your chain a bit too tight.

  • stihls rule.

    i have a homelite,echo,2 stihls and a husquvarna.

stihls still run like there new.

  • I agree with badopinion. The chain is too tight on that saw. You need more slack, otherwise it'll wear our your bar (not "blade") out fast. Once it's running, it tightens up a bit.

That friction also cuts down on the motor's output horsepower.

I give my McCulloch saws a decent amount of slack on the chain, and they run fine.

  • that is an a* star saw that has bin maintained great and starts runs amazing for a 15 year old saw

  • The "tool" is called a scrench, and ur chain is too tight.

  • jezus..

  • my dad has that exact same saw and he let me use it for the first time. i was scared out of my mind

  • ge ta combi wrench from a stihl deeler, thatl save you time and energy, its also lees stuff to loose

  • You are checking to far down the Bar... You also dont really start it up the safest way either.

  • es is hoid a stihl

    made in germani

  • its not blade its a bar, thats why yo use BAR OIL!

  • Sthil makes a great chain saw. I have a MS250-18" and it does everything for my needs. for some reason sthil gets a bad rep for not starting.......Use fresh gas...not gas from last year. Sthils run 50:1 fuel-oil mixture, minimum of 89octane. (for maximum preformance) i clean the air filter after every use. saw is 3-4 years old and starts in 2 pulls everytime

  • one with choke on to fire it once, and one with no choke to get it running

  • silence yourself.

  • Not me that's making the unacceptable spitirually-illegal noise, and performing the rape on nature. So you shouldn't even be in the region of trying to make me the one in the wrong. You lack evaluation talent of situations.

  • one word;

    psychiatrist

go see one you crazy mofo

  • That's 7 words, you fucktard military twat. Get your noise pollution and your army satan shit off this planet scumfuck, and kill yourself. Go and get blown up by the Taliban, it's what you cunts are for.

  • Ahh, you're English, aren't you?

  • no. but i can see why a fucking orc-mentality that promotes or otherwise has anything to do with spiritually-illegal ass-backward Ahrimanic technology would think that being from some nationality means fuck-all about anything. do you go about with a handkerchief on your heid saying 'duurrrrr mah brain hurts'. did you look at the 'evolution of man' chart and pick the one with the knuckles just above ground.

  • Nice troll.

  • actually in many ways a troll by concept is more in alignment with the exact type of idiotic inferior false-satanic mentality required to enjoy or otherwise go along with the existence of such evil infernal applications of technology.

intelligent peoples don't build things unless they are correct. anything noisy like that is knuckle-draggingly backward and promoted only by genetically inferior people. which is of course obvious to real people from the outset.

  • first, a normal proper society would hardly ever need to fell a tree. and if such a thing absolutely had to be done, they'd use lasers or something evolved that is quiet like that.

the point being there's a whole load of instances in the path to developing anything fucked up like noisy tech, where normal sane people would have stopped at, in the realisation they were going the wrong way.

  • Damn you're good.

  • yeah imagine if there were others like me, then i wouldn't need to remind all the sheeple losers what is right and wrong, cause they'd never have gone the wrong way to begin with.

  • This troll is so broad it makes my head spin, this shining jewel of trollkind shines in the dark like a thousand suns. Not only does this troll accuse EVERYONE ON THIS PLANET of being inferior to him, it challenges all the values anyone has ever held in such a ridiculous fashion as to rile all but the most steadfast of us, noble troll, I salute you.

  • your inferior tech is very very recent even compared to the time your inferior genes have been on Earth. you don't seem to understand what a troll is either, if i was a troll then i'd be pretending to care about what i post about just to annoy people better than me, but as i've explained i'm pointing out obvious facts that make this world hell, which are caused by scum who aren't just inferior to me, they are inferior to all sane people.

what insane values you have that permit clunky stupidity?

  • Oh no mister troll, you shall not trick me, I shall enjoy your troll antics for as long as I possibly can.

  • clearly an actual troll, or an imaginary one inside your head, has already tricked you far beyond your ability to comprehend.

you don't see the irony in your not being able to realise truth when you read it, and the proven effects of things like noise pollution on the intellect and the senses.

let me put it this way: it is possible to heal non-invasively using directed sound. so you think about what any old noise is actually doing to biology. look up cymatics for a start. lookup sound weapons.

  • What's the "ohh-L"? ;D

  • for heavens sake a "blade" is part of a knife its a bar...

  • I have a newer stihl, and you adjust chain tension right on the side where the 3/4" bolts are, it makes it so much easier. I also have a smaller one that I bought this year, that requires no tools whatsoever to adjust chain tension, it's great!! I'm so glad Stihl finally got around to making this easier, I used to have an older Sthil that adjusted like that.

  • what chainsaw is that?

  • it is an 038

  • ok thanks. Its look a little bit like my 028 AV from my Grandad.

  • SCRENCH TOOL

  • ever heard of a bar wrench lol

  • Yea, I lost it.

  • do you not have a clutch on it, and does your chainbrake work?

  • Looks like a 028 wood boss,, I bought a 361 a few years back I love it better than any saw I ever had, My farm boss i bought around 1978 is still running great I have never had the case broke.

  • I've got a 1982 028 WoodBoss that I love and also bought a 361 a couple years back and no saw I've run to this day can compare. Stihl are the best saws hands down.

  • of course , german technology...

  • But the saws are made in the U.S. in most cases in a factory in virgina Beach, VA. So be glad too that such a good saw, though german designed is made in the USA.

  • I have a 026 Stihl that I bought 2nd hand from a fellow at work several years ago. I have been using it mainly to clear black locust on my place. I am well pleased with it.

  • my first time seeing this ARE YOU FUCKING KIDING ME

  • What kind of saw is that? It looks just like my 028AV Woodboss. Mine was made in 1981 and still runs good too. Only problem was the automatic oiler went out a while back, but got that fixed last week. Also bought a Stihl MS361 a fews yeas back. Put a 20" on the 361 and an 18" on the 028. both great saws, love Stihl to death.

  • hey can you help me is there a fake stihl chainsaw??because there someone selling stihl chainsaw about 100 euros its made of plastic cover, how that i know that it is not fake or original??

  • coz it will make lots of noise when you pull the rip cord

  • DUDE U MAKE US SOUND LIKE WE ARE RETARDS

  • Why not just use your scrwench? Blade Adjsutment? Chain on the blade? Its a BAR not a blade. You need to come to oegon and Ill get one of liitle girls to show you how to sharpen your saw and run it properly, and you can see a real load of firewood like a load of Tamarack or red fir.

  • I lost my scrwench. Oak is some of the best fire wood you can get, and most of that wood is going in my bar-b-q pit. Search my videos for bar-b-q and you will find my pit. I dont know how smoked brisket taste if you use red fir. But thank you anyway.

  • Tell me about it. When he was handling that chain I was thinking, bet he don't sharpen it.

  • Comment removed

  • u started the chain saw the bad way u could of cut your lag open i saw a guy that split his lag open starting the chainsaw that way

  • I work for a tree service that does some of californias largest commercial jobs, all we use are stihl saws, the work really well. the tool you lost is called a "scwrench". Good video although your saw is rather old and stihl has made many changes to thier design so some of the info will be different on newer saws, for example the bar adjustment is now located between to retaining bolts, and the gas and oil caps no longer need a tool to be opened. over all good info for the novice.

  • Thank you. I dont use the saw but a few times a year, and mainly to cut wood for my bar-b-q pit. I like to think that I know enough not to get hurt.

  • "They make a tool for this, but I've lost mine." Ha ha, so true for the saw owner. Why don't they make those things to where they store in the saw itself kinda like the chuck goes into a drill? Would be much easier to keep track of. Good video, wish you had the video of the chain coming off the bar! Never had that happen to me, yet, thank goodness.

  • I need new mounts for an older 048 av. What are my chances?

  • I watch videos or read books or talk to experts when I want to learn the proper method of using equipment that's dangerous!! Some people are ignorant and just use the equipment without caution!! Know what I mean? lol!!

  • Fist of all, you're handling a chain with out work gloves on?!?!?! The chain must be dull or your fingers would be shredded, Lucky for you!! Secondly, you're suppose to lift the end of the guide bar with one hand as you're tightening the screw to snug the chain up on the bar!! Maybe you should watch some videos on tightening the chain! That all being said, I love Stihl!!

  • I would rather be using the chainsaw then watching videos about it. And yes, I never use "work gloves" when using a saw.

  • yeah real smart what you wear gloves that one more thing tou could get stuck in the the or it it hits the gloves it will pull tour hand right in the chain

  • What language are you typing in?

  • nice video! i love stihl to death!! GREAT video just the drop start can be a bit risky haha kick ass saw

  • All we use is stihl because there the best. You only need to stop to fill them up

  • Firstly, Echo and Stihl are not the same companies. Secondly, there are only two brands of chainsaws I would consider buying: Husqevarna and Stihl. Both are good saws, you'll pay more for a Husky but the things just don't break.

  • stihls are the best, eager beavers and pretty decent too

  • did hi say chainsaw oli and regular gas? WTF???

  • nice job man i didnt catch if you were a logger or what but i own a tree service in IL and all i use is stihl i have all the sizes and they work great

  • You can get a new scrench (the tool that's the 3/4 socket + flathead screwdriver) from Bailey's for under 5 bucks. Just google them and look for the chainsaw supplies link. Some wine place link comes up first.

  • You need to hold the tip of the bar up when you're tightening the chain and nuts.

  • I've been a logger for some years- I've found

that a the HUSQVARNAS have more torque than the Stihl, but for a long lasting saw the stihl has it- I use stihl saws in the log home building process, it's a lot of long high-rev v-notch and saddle cutting that the stihl is great for.

  • Who in there right mind would diss a stihl?

  • The reason that you had to tighten and then retighten is because you turned the tension screw to far.

Always put the chain back on then tighten the tension just a bit, then when you tighten the bar onto the saw, make sure you have the case of the saw down, then when you tighten the bar onto the saw, put pressure on the nose of the bar by pressing it down on the ground or bench, this tilts the bar up as you tighten it and takes care of the rest of the slack.

  • Thank you for the information. I was wondering when a logger was gonna post a comment on this video. I may not use a chainsaw full time like you, but I can cut a truckload of wood without hurting myself.

  • Firewood cutting is tuff work, I did it for years- I'm from Montana, so cutting firewood means spending a lot of time in the mountains, therefor we get alot of the people from town that come out and cut firewood for a living. I havn't cut firewood for people for some time, but it's good work. In Montana you can buy firewood permits from the U.S. FOREST SERVICE, or cut from private ranches, the permits are cheap, but it's the gas that's hurting the cutters wallets out here.

    Anyway, GOD BLESS.

  • echo has better quality than stihl

  • are you crazy? echo is shit

  • echo and stihl are the same company and same equipment. echo just costs less

  • Are you being serious? If not this comment gave me a good laugh!

  • if your oil resivour is not low when your fuel is gone you should adjust you chian lubercater screw or you will wear out your chain and bar. your oil to fuel ratio should be 50:1 alway use hightest fuel and sthil oil.sthil ms270 chainsaws kick ass.

  • Proper protection, cutting chaps, hearing protection and cutting helmet is somthing i strongly recomend, Iv seen a pair of cutters chaps that the chain hit, they saved the ocupants leg. They 'expolde' and the strands wrap around the chain stopping it almost emediatly. Stihl makes some of the best cutters chaps I have ever seen.

  • thanks a lot for all your videos. i've enjoyed them all and appreciate the extra time spent.

  • what ratio for oil to gasoline should you use?

  • check your owners manual that came with your saw or weed trimmer. Are you using a Stihl?

  • yeah i got it from my dad a while back

  • Well your local dealer will sell Stihls: 2 stroke engine oil, that should be mixed with your gasoline, for the proper mixture, I cant remeber at the moment, Check your owners Manual. It may also depend which country you are from, Stihl sells diffrent products in diffrent places due to emission standards. For example the FS 38s manufacterd in Viginia Beach USA needed a CAT to be shipped to Canada

  • ok i'll check again

  • some times the ratio is printed on the gas cap. just dont use a universal oil mix.

  • stihl rules

  • Stihl saws are BAD ASS. Ours has been run hard for better than 10 years with almost zero TLC, and is still running strong.

  • Iv worked on some Stihl Products from the 70s. Like last year i did, I had to condem one only because it was one of the originals STIHL made and the parts werent worth the cost of the machine because it was an carborator problem

  • good description
