  • Too bad this didn't make one damn bit of difference.

  • I miss these moments. I wish the astros were still like this

  • I was at that game and called the shot I said he was due for a big hit look what happen great game

  • .........how could anybody say that any team was better than the 05 team? Forget the line ups. Forget the pitching. Forget everything!!!! The Astros only world series appearance came from the 05 team. For anybody to say any other Astros team was better is just wanting to argue history, which is futile. I could care less that beltran was in the 04 team and less that the killer bee's were in their prime in 1998. Fact is the 05 Astros are the ones that put the National league champs pennant up.

  • They got in because of the wild card at 89 wins. Remember there was no wild card in 80 and 86. The best team doesn't always win, you know that. Do you think the Cardinals 06 team that won it all at 83 wins was better then the team that lost to the Red Sox at 105 wins??? Things happen, certain pitchers get hot. Do you really believe the Phillies last year were better then the Cubs or the Angels??

  • And in 80 had JR Richard not had a stroke in late July of that year you would have had a pitching staff of Richard, Ryan, Ken Forsch,Joe NIekro,Verne Ruhle. They still took the Phillies to five great games. I'm not taking anything away from the 05 team, just pointing out that the better team doesn't always win.

  • Sorry, I just don't know of another way to measure a teams performance other than by their success. This "what if mess" is irrelevant to me. Best performance by the Astros organization was in 2005 when they accomplished winning the national league championship.

  • in 1998 Biggio had his best season, Bagwell was at top form, Ausmus produced better than in 05, Gutierrez produced more than Everett ever did, and oh lord that outfield. Bell, Alou, and Carl Everett.

05 might have had Pettite and Clemons, but I'll take a producing Hampton, Lima and Reynolds any day. Throw in Randy Johnson for the second half of the seaon and Wagner to close games? 1998 should have been the year.

  • @ishmaelvolkoff1 The 1998 team had one fatal weakness. After the switch hitting Everett and utility man Bill Spiers, that team had no other left handed bats. It was a team that could murder mediocre pitching but going up against dominant right handed pitching in the post season caught up with them against Kevin Brown and San Diego. Most of the Astros teams of that era had that problem. In 04, 05 they has more of a ballence between righties and lefties and had more success.

  • @ishmaelvolkoff1 you said it

  • The most underrated series ever. I FUCKING HATE THAT THE WHOLE FLUKE BOSTON SOX AND YANKEES OVERTOOK THIS SERIES. THIS SERIES WAS SO MUCH BETTER AND MUCH MORE FUN TO WATCH. AFTER GAME 5 OF THE ALCS IT WAS A COMPLETE BORE BECAUSE NOTHING EXCITING HAPPEN UNLIKE MOST OF THESE GAMES IN THE '04 NLCS

G1 = 10- 4 ST LOUIS LEAD ASTROS MAKE A GAME OUT OF IT LOSE 10-7

G2 = CARDINALS WIN ON BACK TO BACK SHOTS BY PUJOLS AND ROLENS

    G3 = ROCKET!

    G4 = CARLOS BELTRAN AGAIN

    G5=BACKE'S PERFORMANCE AND KENT

  • yeah this series was way more exciting

  • Ive always wondered what would of happend if th2004 team made it to the ws

  • The Red Sox wouldn't have swept them, but the Sox probably would have won in 5 or 6. Clemens would have won one game and then maybe someone else. There was no stopping the Sox after they came back and pitching wins. The Astros had a hell of a run considering they were missing Pettite and Wade Miller. Oswalt may have won a game against the Sox, but it wouldn't have gone more then six.

  • Pettite was healthy in 05

  • I know. They missed him and Wade Miller in 04 is what I said. They probably would have beat the Cardinals in 04 if they had Pettite.

  • I"m not an Astros fan but I believe the Stros team of 1998 that won 102 was thier best team and I think the 1980 team that lost to the Phillies in the greatest 5 game series ever was their second best team. Poor JR Richard. You were missing him in that 1980 series. If he doesn't have a stroke you guys probably win it all that year. I think the 04 team was the third best Astros team.

  • The '98 team was solid, but I believe this '04 team had a better offense. It's basically a coin flip, but I think the '04 team was the best. The lineup that year was incredible with Beltrá batting 2nd. The 1980 team was hard to compare to these teams because it was truly built for Astrodome smallball. I'll rank the '04 team the best, followed by the '80 and '98 teams.

  • If you have a copy of games 5 and 6 of the 04 NLCS let me know i will pay you for shipping and cost of the DVD or VHS tape. Game 5 overlapped with game 5 of the ALCS and game 6 I missed most of because of work and the end overlapped with game 7 of the ALCS.

  • even as an Astros fan, I'd have to say that this was the better series of the two LCS, even though we lost. It was a seven game classic, and IMO it's one of the more underrated league championship series ever (maybe it's because ESPN's two favorite teams, New York and Boston were in the ALCS that year).

  • Fox covered the LCS not ESPN. I do agree it was a very good series. They overlapped because of the rainout of the Sox-Yanks game 3. I think monday's game(Kent's HR) started at 8EDT and ended at the same as the 14 inning game 5ALCS, which started at 5 EDT.The Stros-Cards game was on FX in every market in the country except Houston and St. Louis where it was on Fox. Ratings rules unfortunately. I would love to see games 5 and 6 in their entirety sometime.

  • @HuskerFanatic There was so much more drama. An extra inning heartbreaker, career defining clutch performances, and unbelievable chokes. Kent's walkoff, Jim Edmonds picking off flies and knocking balls out, and Tavarez playing chin music with Bagwell and punching the phone.

Dan Miceli haunted my dreams that winter.

  • When ever I think of memorable Astros homeruns, this is always the first that comes to mind. Even before Burke's 18th inning bomb. Kent's homer is definitely my favorite Astros moment.

  • someone want to chat

i liked this video :) sO

  • This wasn't even worth posting...way too "jittery", but thx for the effort anyway.

  • 2004 baby! people don't even know of video den....top this you cunt

  • but unfortunately (not) the astros got a dose of their own medicine the next game.. even though we lost the 05 series how about that game 5 homer.. you astros fans loved that

  • LOL I'm a diehard Astro fan..

and that ball still hasn't landed....

  • if ur talkin shit fuck off

  • One of the most underrated games of all-time. Both teams had 1 hit going into thye ninth.

  • that team was stacked, roger choked in game 7.

  • ya why dont u go set ur self on fire along with boo-jols

  • bitch ill kick ur fuckin ass cardinals suck cock

  • go astros?

  • I remember watching this Homerun, live. The best part about it was the Cardinals walking Berkman to get to Kent for the easy out. Then he launced one off the fascade. If yall have never been to the Main Event during playoff baseball you should check it out. They shut down Main Street and the Metro Rail, project the game on the side of building and you can just line the street for a couple of miles watching baseball in downtown Houston. That's where I watched this game. Good Times!!!

  • Yeah the Giants went straight into the shitter after Jeff Kent... Winning 100+ games the following season... pathetic!

  • that ball was hammered

  • Watching the Dodgers' '08 home opener and hearing so much about the curse of Barry Bonds, I'm reminded that the Giants went straight into the shitter years ago after trading Jeff Kent. Jeff Kent is the man.

  • good thing our cheap ass owner let him walk for an extra $2M the next year

  • i remember goin to sleep early b4 this and b4 game 6 wen edmonds hit a walk-off. too bad this was overshadowed by yankees-red sox 2004, this series was better

  • that was one of the best homers in Astros history! best was Burke's b/c he was most unexpected. This game was 3rd favorite. Game 5 against atlanta with the 18 inning shot # 2, # 1 was NLCS game 6. They had the heart of a National League champion that year and nothing will ever take that year away.

  • There's nothingl like playoff HRs, but you gotta have the day Biggio announced his retirement and hit a Grand Slam that night as pretty high on your list. Hell with Berkman going the way he's going, It looks as though there will be plenty of memorable HR's to come.

  • Upload the telecast.

Thom Brennaman: Kent waits, IN THE AIR, WE GO TO ST. LOUIS WITH HOUSTON IN FRONT THREE GAMES TO TWO!!

  • Give the Houston fans credit. They have never really had much to cheer about.

  • We may not have won a world Series, but you don't know what the hell you're talking about. There's plenty of history within the Astros organization.

  • SWeggermann is right. There is a lot of history within this organization. I'm tired of hearing people say that Houston sucks. Yeah, we had a shitty season last year and we lost the World Series in 2005. So what? We still have SEVERAL division titles and one NL championship title. And I'm sure there will be many more to come. This team was built to win and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we return to the playoffs

  • ya and we had had bagwell and biggio fuckin cardinals dnt hav shit comparred 2 dat

  • I was there ... 5th row in right field. After being at Games 3 and 4 too. The best baseball weekend of my life. I'll never forget it.

  • This was amazing...but yeah the 18 inning one against the Braves was even MORE amazing.

  • that game was epic........pure history

  • That 18th inning game was more crazier.. It just gies me chills down the spine when I see this.

  • That sends shivers down my spine even seeing it now. God knows what I would have done if I was in that crowd.

  • Jimmy's was better the next night

  • Jeff Kent was great, it would be nice to have him back on the Astros. Between Biggio, Berkman, Lee, and Kent, we would have a seriously dangerous lineup.

  • Jeff Kent was awesome with the S.F. Giants and still is with any other team he is on. They say he was never thought to be a power hitter for a 2nd basemen, BAM! Another homerun!

  • Nice video and it really shows the media bias. When you type in 2004 NLCS, a thrilling series that went 7 games, that my Astros were defeated by the Cardinals in, you get one video. When you type in the 2004 ALCS, you get way more. You get David Ortiz when he takes a piss, but here, you don't even have Edmonds' walk off shot to end Game 6 or anything like that. But yeah, cool video, I went crazy after it. Go Astros.

  • this was a great game....2 bad we couldnt seal the deal.

  • I remember trying to figure out which game to watch, because the ALCS game that day started three hours earlier, yet went 14 innings and ended just before the 9th inning of this one.

  • Best sporting event I've ever been to, that game was amazing. We were in the Crawford Boxes near the foul pole, that ball was in the air forever! Thanks for sharing!

  • take that cardinals

  • Good Footage my man I like Astros Fans cause Im from Houston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NLCS Champs 05
