i think what people are missing out is that these things (from what i can tell at least) aren't meant to be the only instrument on stage. put them in a normal band lineup and they act as your synths, brass and whatever other weird instrument you need at the time :P

@MultiMumsie Eigenlab(dot)com..It is quite expensive at 499 euro's. Since it's an electronic instrument you may be able to simply use an amp, not sure though.

@guitgeo : Doesn't need a spit valve, because the "condensed breath" (lol) will go down in the pipe, and not stay in it. You may have some in your mouth though.

Besides, there's a unstable version for windows out now, and the stable one is scheduled for this summer (check out the official site).

And you can put whatever sound you have in it, so you can use better drums and guitar sounds if you want to...

It's awesome and everything, but I wish they'd put the instrument in a bit more context sometimes...There's only so awesome 3 eigenharps are going to sound, esp. when all the musicians are interested in is electronica. Some of the individual sounds I've heard from this thing are amazing, but there needs to be a branching out and a real effort to show just how good some of the tones are...

...a bit of work in post wouldn't hurt these demo reels either :-)

BTW - it will only work on a MAC. It's not Windows compatible and you still need to hook it up to your stereo or guitar amp to get any kind of decent sound. The devil is in the details isn't he?

I wanna start by saying im not bashin on anyone, but would it kill people to do a little research before throwing information out there. For anyone who is curious, there are three different versions of the eigenharp out there. There's the Alpha, which is being played in the video. The Tau, which is a smaller version, about 3/5 the size of the Alpha. And the Pico, which is very small and an introductory version of sorts for the two larger ones. The prices are $5600, $2600, and $560 respectively.
