whoever put this clip on has made my night. I has this taped on old VHS when I was 17. Bought all their stuff after this. `Yes she said when the lights go dead`. Up there with Teenage Kicks
Had this EXACT clip recorded on video tape from 1987 - well, must have been my brother that taped it!.I searched for these songs, that I only know from having that tape - can't believe I found the actual show!!! THANK YOU!!!
Fantastic band....Stevie Mack is one of the best and most natural front-persons I've ever seen (he's looking a bit camp here!) and the O'Neil brothers on guitar and bass.
'Blindspot' from Manic Pop Thrill is one of the most beautiful 'slow' songs ever written - can't find it anywhere on YouTube :( Good to see this though...
great band! ..... I remember popping into a record shop in Camden (London) and chatting with Steve Mack, who was working behind the counter.....then later saw TPE live....I think he was wearing a ski suit or something. Big Decision & Genius Move...2 of my very favourite 80's tracks....
I was at this Tube. Trouble Funk were the last band and played one jam for about 40 mins. Moved to london and saw TPE about ten times-always a great live band, though their lps never did them justice. This is a great song and a cracking steal from Brother D and The Collective.Thanks for posting
"big decision" was one of the best singles of the underrated 80s ( can't have been that bad if you had : the smiths, early REM at their peak, husker du, echo and the bunnymen, gang of four for starters)...that petrol emotion were terribly underrated and who songs would piss all over most so called "punk popsters" today
by the way - anyone reading this who remembers them playing at musgrove road I am sending a big hello to you out there and what a great beautiful night it was
thanks so much for posting this - I saw them many times way back and it is good to be reminded of how great they were. Steve Mack had (has!) so much charisma as a lead singer - but then as now, I fancy the drummer!
I don't have the details to hand and my memiry isn't all it should be but I do remember that at least 2 of the band members are from Derry. That Petrol Emotion came about after the Undertones split and 2 of the 'Tones became Petrols. I'll see if I can find my old vinyl with the info.
yep the o'neil bros from undertones but also two other irsh guys ciaran mcloughlin and raymond o gearmain (both great songwriters)
AND STEVE american and all the better for it the antithesis to the english disaffected frontman, so many elements make this band more relevant today than the time they were around.
Steve Mack you make my loins ache!

I just bought this used lp for 50 cents because it was a polygram record and the cover was kind of cool.

@nmcclure79
Damn; 50 cents?
ybrik222 8 months ago
@ybrik222 Yeah, they had a bunch of used lps 2 for a buck. Many of them were extremely common or in bad shape. Can't really go wrong for 50 cents!
nmcclure79 8 months ago
@nmcclure79
You can't go wrong for fifty cents unless you pay fifty cents to have your eyes removed. That would suck.

que bueno el directo eh!!

80s music wouldn't suck as much if they took off the stupid effect on the vocals.
