Yeah! Europe and the USA are alike. They both have BUILDING CODES. Now, I'm beginning to see why. Oy, GEVALT!!! Is that place ever scary. I'm 6'-5", with disproportionately heavy upper body mass. I could flip over those low railings in a second. The only way I could cross that Iron Bridge of Terror would be on my hands and knees. NO. I'd have to crawl on my belly like a Reptile, I'd be so afraid. And is any of that ironwork GROUNDED? Any LIGHTENING RODS on that thing?
misunderstood! this is how i describe jim. do yourself a favor and take the time to think about what he says. what he does. in my opinion he is a living genius. his accomplishment has spoken for itself. he is a national treasure beyond thomas jefferson and anyone worthy of praise. he actually wants to create rather then destroy. a true artist. a voice that should be heard. politics happened to get involved and has tried to ruin this idea. we are not worthy. I am not worthy ivebeen thr many times
Ive been to Bishops castle many times!!! i love it so much! I am not afraid of hight's, i really actually love them! So, going up to the top isn't scary for me. Bishops castle is a BLAST!!! you cant visit Colorado without visiting the castle!!! :D
@andrewhshirley Actually he sounds like some sort of sissy, and he pronounces everything wrong, just wrong. Probably spells everything wrong too. and why would you have a tv in the front seat of the car, and talk about "juxtapositioning" it with whatever you see. Who cares.
"bore the pants off you"?... you already achieved that with your tepid commentary...
i believe Mr Bishop to have a very valid point of view!!..far from boring....and why ,sir make efforts to seek out such a place only to label it as dangerous!?...challenging and unfinished yes..... but your use of the word dangerous is dangerous!!!( I believe that may be what the gentleman was referring to when he said you mithed the point!!! )
@moshhon The castle is a building site and you could fall from a large height. This has been for as long as I can remember, whether you're fat or young and slender. It is dangerous as railings don't exist, I really could make a very long list.
There might be an opening for a door but there was no floor.
However I am grateful that we can explore, maybe one day I will write a lot more.
@gemfm you are a poet ...whether you know it ...or not!!...but if danger helps create awareness...i think in all fairness..Mr Bishop is far from boring!!keep up the Englishness!!!
This castle is a staple in Colorado for those of us who actually venture out. My first visit was over twenty years ago while we were camping in the area.
On a side note I hate all the advertising everywhere too, it's creepy and almost Orwellian.
Peublo has cheap fuel/gas! I last visited the castle in late 2008 and nearly went again in March 2010.
I really wish it could be finished but am sure Jim's (Bishop) main desire is the building/construction itself. His priority cannot be to simply finish it. Am happy to be proved wrong....

That dirt road is the "12 mile" road from Beulah, Colorado, over to San Isabel, Colorado. I spent alot of time in this area when I grew up, and there are alot of neat places on that road to hangout, camp, just disappear from it all.
I think it is quite ironic that you comment on the "safety" of something. You are holding a camera while driving. Last time I checked, that was not exactly safe.
Wow, you were there on a beautiful day! When I was there it was in October; about 45 degrees with a slight drizzle, and we had to drive through clouds to get there. I thought the gloom added a bit of authenticity to the feel of the castle, but now I'm seeing what a view we missed! Guess I'll just have to go next summer.
Just visited again last week, thrilling as always. Glad your helping others to know about it! Bishop and his Castle just seem to inspire all kinds to voice they'r opinion's. Unfortunately many are unable to do it so heartily as Bishop.
why ridicule the safety. thats not what its about at all. honestly who would drive over a thousand miles just to say how unsafe something was. im with Toker420247, people like you don't belong there. but its still a good video, like the music
u are a pussy ass lil bitch. i wish you woulda drove that piece of shit car off one of the many cliffs in the area.Jim Bishop should of beat you down and smashed your head with a rock.its people like you that shouldnt go there.but good vid
The united states is not the us government. when our nation started it was filled with dreams that have never got fulfilled due to the government taking away our rights and tweekting them to fit their agenda. You go mr Bishop you are a man who speaks the truth.

Me a poet - that's quite amusing, because my job is with numbers, and writing's ohh so confusing.
Moderate danger is fine, and life's about risks, but I wasn't keen to gamble mine, at the Castle of loose bricks.

But I have also been there in the rain, snow outside and so cold and damp (no heating of course).
With the clouds just an arm length away.
But yes I agree you will now have to re-visit in the summer.
