  • Might not be Irish written but no one can deny that these lads make it Irish owned. Makem and Clancy Abu

  • Sorry to disappoint all you Irishmen but this song happens to be English. Ewan McColl wasn't Irish. Yarmouth is not an Irish port.

  • This is the first Irish song sung by the Clancy's and Tommy Makem that I ever fell in love with. I used to play the record it was on over and over till I practically wore it out. What a great song by such great singers

  • @Kaitipoo MacColl was of Scottish parentage but born and raised in England. Shoals of Herring was written after he'd interviewed Sam Larner a Norfolk fisherman and much of the lyric was taken straight from Larner's own words. There is nothing Irish about the song itself other than some Irish singers covered it.

  • Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

  • Another great ballad 5***** ♪♫ ♥

  • I'm may have been born in America, but the majority of my heritage is Celtic. I'm proud to be part Irish!

  • Hearing the audience join in at 0.52 makes me envious.......I wish I could have been there too.

  • I grew up listening to this music, my Irish heritage which I am so proud of...:)

  • Great performance of a great song! Thank you.

  • menbehindthesweaters, I don't know who you are, but I love you! Thank you *so* much for giving us all these wonderful videos. Tommy's fans are all missing him...at least we can still see him this way!
