You LRRPs had some serious courage. My dad was a LRRP in the 173rd Airborne Division ,74th inf. detachment and close friends with Staff Sergeant Laszlo Rabel, the only LRRP to recieve the Medal of Honor. I recently became very interested in what it was to be a LRRP. After reading many books i have gained a lot of respect for the discipline, courage and team loyalty practiced by all of the LRRPs. Lazlo Rebel is the perfect example of this. He sacrificed his life to save his team. Thanks LRRPs
coprhead6, I have gotten a couple messages from my war buddy who served the same time your Dad did....And I have talked to other men who served with him and they all had nothing but good things to say about him.....Since I was the first Unit Historian, I have so many names that I have come across, sometimes I need to be reminded. He spent his whole tour in the unit instead of doing 6 mo support....You Should be proud of him....He was a soldier not a politician
coperhead6 I was just notified by a good friend of mine who served 44 months in the Nam and was with C/75/RGR two times. He was there when your Dad was and would like to speak with him or you! So send me a message and let me know if we can work it out RLTW Brasso
My father is Ret. Cpt. Richard Grimes. He was a PL in the Charlie Rangers and went back to the states and helped remake Ranger School (including the now replaced Desert Phase). I'm in ROTC right now and will hopefully branch Infantry and take a little trip down to RANGER SCHOOL!
Another great tribute to those that served. We appreciate your service and continued support of those serving now and those that have not yet returned. LRB
