it just happen for any vocals. i dont understand this exhibition. if you can search, you can easily see Tate did same, it is not worst moment. it just happens. labrie is one of the best vocals in prog-world. and his range is really impressive. yes he lost some of this note because of aging, but doesn't matter.

On the last album and judging from the new song also the new album he sounds much better! I think if he just stays in the range where he can sing and doesn't have to wail he'll be fine. Never saw him live though so can't say how much he has improved for real.
I wouldn't envy ANY singer that has to sing for DT. Their music is all over the place and I can't think of too many guys who could measure up with all their extreme key changes. I've never been a big fan of Labrie, but I commend him for belting it out for so long. Unfortunately the voice is gonna go long before any other instrument.. Hate to say, but this video is nothing compared to what will happen if he keeps straining himself like that.
That tone up there is really hard to get guys... everyone makes mistakes... and thats not something unusual cuz, try it urselves and see that its almost impossible to get your voice to that tone correctly... so , think before talking please. all of you.
Couldn't agree more. This band had the chops to be one of the all-time greats if they had even a mediocre vocalist. Want a real laugh? Listen to Labrie bodyslam one of the most beautiful Christmas songs of all time, "O Holy Night". It made me wish I was Jewish.

I wouldn't envy ANY singer that has to sing for DT. Their music is all over the place and I can't think of too many guys who could measure up with all their extreme key changes. I've never been a big fan of Labrie, but I commend him for belting it out for so long. Unfortunately the voice is gonna go long before any other instrument.. Hate to say, but this video is nothing compared to what will happen if he keeps straining himself like that.

That tone up there is really hard to get guys... everyone makes mistakes... and thats not something unusual cuz, try it urselves and see that its almost impossible to get your voice to that tone correctly... so , think before talking please. all of you.

Couldn't agree more. This band had the chops to be one of the all-time greats if they had even a mediocre vocalist. Want a real laugh? Listen to Labrie bodyslam one of the most beautiful Christmas songs of all time, "O Holy Night". It made me wish I was Jewish.

That's why Labrie was in dream theater.
He's blown his voice out twice since then, which is the main reason why he's not been as good since the early 2000s.

@TheCandygod When a pro athlete bows out his knee and comes back slower and less agile, the team cuts him. I feel badly for Labrie losing his voice, but the band should've put him on IR and moved on. They blew their shot at immortality letting this guy hang on for far too long. He wouldn't make it past the 1st cut on American Idol.
