screw you naysayer idiots--- this band was Fn awesome----of course the audio and vid quality sux--its live and from 25 years ago! no high tech shit here
and as far as the hair-- everybody looked that way in the 80's...
These guys were pure Fn Metal gods. I loved the music 25yrs ago in HS and still love the music today.
Look at Tom "Warrior"s band today---Triptykon--- just insane music, dark dark video and still death metal to the core. awesome, just awesome.
I want to like this band, but....nope...not with this piece of shit. Nice Bon Jovi hair and clothes. I thought this might be a true influence on the great black metal bands that came years later (i was mistakingly told that) - I just don't hear it or see it. Oh Well - I tried.
@MissEgasMoniz This was shot during their Cold Lake or Vanity/Nemesis days (1988-1990), well after the year (1985) when the album on which Jewel Throne appears (To Megatherion) was released. For their first 2-3 albums they did indeed look less like Bon Jovi and more like the black metal bands who followed in their wake (and who incidentally were all influenced largely by Celtic Frost). Their image makeover wasn't the best of moves, but I don't think it detracted from their music at all.
@MissEgasMoniz I understand your dissapointment, this was a terrible era for the band. But, you were not misinformed; Celtic Frost WERE a massive influence on the Black Metal that came later. They played metal so dark, so hypnotizingly evil...nothing like it had really happened before them; it's all true. Look up "Necromantical Screams" or "Circle Of The Tyrants"or even farther back into their days as HELLHAMMER ( Damn near first, if not the first Black Metal band ). Spread true metal history!
@MissEgasMoniz Cool. I hope you'll enjoy the grandfathers of the scene. Just doin' my part to make sure people remember extreme metal did exist before Norway..hahahah! Tom (CF's Vocalist) now fronts the Black/Doom band TRIPTYKON (dot net) -Cheers!
Its funny how their image and the music they played at that time didn't have anything in common if you watch the video on mute you would think they are some shitty glam band but goddamn they kick ass
@TezinaBenzina .....too true dude !! But thank god their 'glam' faze only lasted ! album & 1 tour haha....then they soon got sick of it & went back to their awsome regular selves....\m/\m/
Please repent to Jesus christ! repent to our lord and pray to Jesus christ. repent today and live free tomorrow. gospel is freedom! prayers to Jesus stop addictions, depression, ect.. praise god helps save your souls. Pray to Jesus, give Jesus all your pains, Ask Jesus and it will be given unto you.
@bass109 You wont find freedom by worshiping an ideal, all the pains and suffering people have are of their own making, spreading some word from a belief is not the truth, it is your belief it doesn't mean its a universal law. When you can see things as they are uncolored, by beliefs and predicieces, ideals, opinions, likes, wants, hates, see it in its own pristine purity without you being involved then there is freedom. Go look up Jiddu Krishnamurti and get a reality check. Truth is what is.
@julianraw and bass 109: I don't see what preaching has to do with watching a badass video. Who cares what you believe or don't just listen to some badass music and relax...
There's actually some pretty cool riffs here, it's too bad they were pressured to take a more mainstream route. It's like when Captain Beefheart tried to go pop, but he still sounded really weird.
Glam=pure bullshit...a true blackmetal n death/trash never turn like this !!! Warrior is a genius but he make a really big mistake here...Imagine Bon Jovi turn to black metal...
Take care all n enjoy the musik of Tom G Warrior!
@azmergoth It wasn't Tom's fault. This band was unlucky enough to be blackmailed by the record companies.Pretty odd considering that bands like Slayer were already active at the time
@CORPSEGRINDER557 Theory doesn't necessarily make a good guitarist. Dave Mustaine never learned any theory until late in his career. Simplistic guitar parts doesn't automatically mean that they're bad.
@PeaceSells100 im not saying that theory makes a good guitarist. What i meant by "theory" was learning how to simply solo in the right key and scale. Im not bashing him in anyway, im just saying that he was clearly not playing through a scale and was more playing random notes. he was playing pretty cleanly at a fast pace and if he was playing through a scale it would sound great.
@PeaceSells100 good thing these guys have released another thrash album before turning doom.It didn't have such a dark edge but it was still a decent thrash metal record.I respect them anyhow for their contribution to the extreme genre of metal's development
when you think about it...if people believe that you have to look "thrashy" to be thrash..then that makes that person just as much as a poser..so my 2 cents is..i dont give a fuck if you look glam gimme a thrashy riff and we will take it from there!
@Northerpanzer666: are you stupid? amdew1970 was saying that this was Frost's worst phase just for the line-up, not for the song moron....and Monotheist was one hell a fuckin' heavy record.....
One of the highlights of the 80s glam scene, along with Roxx Gang, Seduce and Odin. Big pity they sold out and went thrash, with a bit more work they could've been up there with Pretty Boy Floyd and Tuff. Dance Sleazy! xxxx
@hatredandforce, I hate you too. Don't ever disrespect Celtic Frost ever again. Know Celtic Frost's place in Extreme Metal before you disrespect them.
@amdew1970 This nr is from the album To Mega Therion a legendary album maybe the best..If that is the worst phase, then Celtic Frost isn't a band for you. But I agree with U, that this Line Up, about the Cold Lake (Shit) is horrible, but this is ages, before Monotheist. After To Mega T. which contains this classic track they made Into the P. Monotheist is many years later & was a weak comeback that became the end of CF.Triptykon have just released a mini-cd w/ 2 old CF-tracks + 3 new w/ Triptykon
Nice! L.A. Guns Shirt xD!...i mean..L.A. Guns used to be a Killer Band... I Would Be Worrried if he used a Poison Shirt with the cover of "Look what the cat dragged in".
Now seriously, i didin't Hate the Cold Lake album, i mean, yes, they looked like crap, and that guitar "player" sucked with his sitty solos, but the songs aren't that bad, they had great lyrics, some good riffing and killer drums... at least it didin't sound like Poison or Danger Danger D: ...
Se tocaron buenos temas, pero la voz de Tom G Warriors es como la wea, ademas que el solo de guitarra (en la mayoria de los temas) sonaba como la pichula tambien, pero fuera de eso buen tema.
Tom G Warrior's ideas at the time were a bit confused; the lad didn't know whether to look glam and still play his more heavier stuff or give the whole lot a total makeover, even to the point of sounding tinny as hell.
I think the oversized drumset was a nice touch. To the drummer's credit, he uses two of the four bass drums. That's more than what most butt rock drummers of the 80s would use.
Aren't we a little sensitive! Did I ever say anything about Mike Portnoy? I guess I need to spell it out for you glam metal = butt rock. Since Dream Theater is a progressive metal band, I don't see how my comment was directed towards them. Especially since I listen to their music and know that Mike Portnoy uses all of hit drum kit. Get a clue, cunt.
@Robflesh I know Terry Bozzio and have worked with him quite a bit. Every piece on his kit is used and there for a very good reason. Nothing is on his kit for show.
@RonansRecordingShow That's cool. Like I said, I don't oppose drummers playing big kits. That's actually part of the reason I was drawn to metal because I thought they were cool to look at. However, when I look back at the glam drummers from the 80s, it was kind of silly to have such a big kit for show. I'm not surprised that Terry uses his whole kit. I'd have to check out his work to see how.
@Robflesh...Very true. Reed Mullin (C.O.C.) who is a fantastic drummer, downsized his kit for the same reason. Compare his work on 'Blind' and 'Deliverance', you'll see (but hear, mostly) a huge difference...
I have to say that this track was one of their best, BUT this was recorded during, from my viewpoint a REALLY bad period , and yes, the guitar solo is, in my view, crap to the point of embarrassment!
Thats Curt Bryant, not Tom Warrior playing that terrible solo. Toms own solos were total chaos but they WORKED. I never forgave TGW for hiring a second guitarist, it ruined the feel of the band.
yes!people had metallica back in the 80s but others had CELTIC FROST . .. its a shame the musc bizz fucked them over so bad , althoug i do like tryptykon and toms new dark doom sound . . .
This is a clip of their Live At The Hammersmith home vid. I have this on VHS. Destruction opened for these guys that night ( not on vid).
I can't really blame the band as much as I can Noise Records for allowing this on shelves. The sound is lousy and the performance was lackluster. Noise did Coroner the same way a few months to a year later.
@fifiking666 Totally the inspriation/guidance/whoring of record labels and other industry scum. Watching TGW's interviews from the era you can tell he's basically reiterating a script. I still think it was an industry plan to sign up the heavy bands just to let them die as the shoegazers were coming up. Frost ruled.
Mark 1: 14 Now after John was put under arrest Jesus went into Gal´i•lee, preaching the good news of God 15 and saying: The appointed time has been fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has drawn near. Be repentant, YOU people, and have faith in the good news.
Hey fucker, if you'd tried to preach at a Celtic Frost concert, you would have gotten she shit kicked out of you. You're not convincing anybody here. Do yourself and others a favor and shut the fuck up about religion.
The best part is the interview after the album. Tom Araya is a devout catholic, so he was asked if he believed god really hated us all. His response: "No, but it makes for a fucking AWESOME album title!"
what they are wearing is called: who gives a fuck what we're wearing, were an awesome band with kick ass music, so why should anyone give a shit what we wear on stage
I would agree with you if it werent for the fact that its during the Cold Lake era which is hands down their worst album. However ya your wright like they should care.
my only guess is that they were trying to make more loot w/ that look; it even sounds different than during the To Mega Therion era; wtf?!?!

Is this hair do any better than the one he has now? Fashion Criminal, but still awesome musicians. Who am I to judge?

I love how they look all like "thrash glam" and they sound so fucking heavy! XD fuckiing awesome dude!
fifiking666 2 years ago 52
this was during their cold lake era...hence the glam look
thehorrordesign 2 years ago
@fifiking666 Totally the inspriation/guidance/whoring of record labels and other industry scum. Watching TGW's interviews from the era you can tell he's basically reiterating a script. I still think it was an industry plan to sign up the heavy bands just to let them die as the shoegazers were coming up. Frost ruled.

God I hated this area of CF! Cold Lake was terrible. No E for effort!!!

No thanks matey, and if somebody wants to believe in God they don't have to join your insane semetic desert cult to do so!

I have "news" for you, god hates your guts.
cronology 2 years ago
Actually, to quote Slayer, "God hates us all"
addicted2soccer4 2 years ago
The best part is the interview after the album. Tom Araya is a devout catholic, so he was asked if he believed god really hated us all. His response: "No, but it makes for a fucking AWESOME album title!"
