@0mgwtfbbq21 i dont believe joy division would have been really big commercially if they went on for 5 more years probably upper middle size would be their limit, the music was too cerebral for the large majoriity of the rock public. i dont think their american tour would have even filled the venues, even the punk new wave leading bands in america (give or take a sold out blondie) rarely filled even the medium size venues.

I saw 'em live... lived in Manchester end 70s... We knew they were incredible and epoch changing even as it was happening. (Also saw the first ever New Order gig - tiny, tentative, shell-shocked - about 6 weeks after the suicide. It was heartbreaking. Still angry and sad about that suicide!
Did Martin Hannett really produce this record? I doubt it, because he (or someone) has buried Ian's vocal so deep in the mix that you can barely make out the bleeding lyrics, and that's a shame, because this is one of the Top 10 Greatest Songs of the Rock Era. Because of the lyrics.

I saw 'em live... lived in Manchester end 70s... We knew they were incredible and epoch changing even as it was happening. (Also saw the first ever New Order gig - tiny, tentative, shell-shocked - about 6 weeks after the suicide. It was heartbreaking. Still angry and sad about that suicide!

Did Martin Hannett really produce this record? I doubt it, because he (or someone) has buried Ian's vocal so deep in the mix that you can barely make out the bleeding lyrics, and that's a shame, because this is one of the Top 10 Greatest Songs of the Rock Era. Because of the lyrics.
