Actual Tea Party composition of the US electorate - 10%
British perception of the Tea Party's composition - 90%
If you lot were so enlightened, you'd readily understand that the activities of fringe elements of a society are NOT representative of that society. Also, aren't you guys too busy attacking Muslim immigrants for the BNP to comment on the state of America's political climate?
@roomie4rent that would be interesting point except no members of the BNP have ever been elected to the British lower house, ever, in the BNP's history - unlike the Tea Party who have been very successful. That's 'cos the BNP are fringe, not mainstream and not commanding anywhere near 10% of the electorate, like you acknowledge the tea party are, hence the concern. But I can see why you'd tire of the entire country been tarred with the same brush. :)
@roomie4rent Take a pinch of salt and cheer the fuck up because THIS IS A COMEDY SHOW! and you clearly haven't seen how much we take the piss out of the BNP :)
Well ,I lived in both countries and prefer America. At least you can have some fun there ,before being senselessly murdered by a gun maniac. England is more like a slow death. Rain ,shitty waitresses ,10 dollars a gallon to run your poxy econo box car. The only good thing about England is that it is not too far to go to Italy ,which is 1000 times better. No Italian would allow something as loathsome and vile as a Ginsters Pasty anywhere near his digestive tract.
@ilikezappa I used to live in the States, now I live in London, and you know what, I prefer London...more people I can talk to and not hear something idiotic and uneducated from. That country is so ludicrously dumb its ridiculous.
@ishaan14 London is a cool city ,no doubt. I lived in a few places in the US. Out the back of my house in New Mexico you could ride a horse for 2 days through the Rockies before you came to a town. It was just great. PS the whole state was teeming with PhD`s because they research Atomic bombs at Los Alamos just down the road. I doubt if any of them are in the Tea Party. You would have to ask the guy who cleans the toilets at the Lab I expect.
@ilikezappa Rain in England is such a stereotype lol I moved to England 3 long years ago and it doesnt rain as much as Americans seem to think, then when it does rain its more of a drizzle, when it rains in America it rains realy hard for ages. England gets hotter than the south of France and Spain through spring and summer. And yes we do have Gingsters pastys and mc donalds and all the rest back home in Italy. =)
@BoyMunkey08 But if you are seen eating one,the Carabinieri will fine you 300 Euro`s for public indecency ,and your momma will cry ,because you have brought disgrace on a proud family , correct?
@ilikezappa haha no we dont get arrested for eating junk food in Italy,we have an Americanization junk food / obeesity problem in Italy,no where near as bad as the US,but a problem none the less.
Your comments come across a very stereotypy like you are an American just pretending to have been to both the UK and Italy, like you were just relying on stereotypes to get you through. lol ;)
You get half the US on Youtube claim to have been places but 78% of the US dont even own passports. lol
@BoyMunkey08 Not true munkeyman. I am English ,but spent 4 years in the US and I live with an Italian girl ,so we go there quite often. I am only joking around though.
@BoyMunkey08 Well ,please yourself ,or try looking at my videos ,where you will see me talking in an English accent ( even my parrot says "oi wanker" which he got from me) You will see some footage of my home ,which is in Wiltshire. You Chinese people have some trouble telling westerners apart I know.
"The Republican Party are very very right wing, and the Tea Party are mad!", fantastic quote, if only Americans knew that's how we see the United States.
Until Americans give up their absurd addiction to right wing Christian fundamentalism, the rest of the world will rightly regard them as being collectively bat-shit crazy. Because, be in no doubt, right wing Christian fundamentalism is indeed bat-shit crazy. I mean it's at least as crazy as Islamic fundamentalism, Only you guys have lots of nukes..
I mean, an American President that seriously *actually questions* evolution should never be allowed nuclear launch codes. Or sharp objects.
@garlicluva@garlicluva There was no party at which all Americans dropped by, took a hit of the fundamentalism, and, since that time, have carried said unhealthy addiction. It's a tiny minority that gets sensationalized media coverage, no greater than the insane portion of any society. America DOES have the highest concentration of corporate and just all around shit-rich-asshole money thrown into its media and political cycle to obfuscate reality. And look, you've were fooled, too.
"We're talking about the same country that thinks that facts are the work of the devil."
Americans, you do realize that the rest of the world think that you are all batshit insane? I mean, you guys were the same people who inspired Europeans to finally get up and fight for equality. Now, the whole Western world think that you're all just a bunch of fundamentalist Christian nutjobs who believe that myths like Noah's Ark actually happened, and that Charles Darwin was Satan.
@foojuice101 whoa, whoa. My friend, please refrain from the generalizations. Not all of us are in that boat. I'd like to think there is still some sanity left in this country, even if it is at times hard to see. My advice would be not to listen to our media, they get it wrong nearly every time and will have you thinking we are as you describe. We'll be back in the game before long... hopefully...
@foojuice101 Love that. Sort out your own house. America's real image problem in the world lies in our inability to make it clear that we're a collection of states. To consider us one big fundamentalist Christian society is not unlike taking the state of the Eurozone, the growing authoritarianism in Hungary, the spate religious and cultural misunderstanding, xenophobia, the hate-crimes northern Europe, and concluding that Europe is just a grim, debt-ridden, authoritarian continent.
@niclasjt The Eurozone is made up of different countries under completely different governments though. America is a country under one government, talk about state laws and federal laws, congressmen and all that bs, but the comparison with America and Europe is just flat out wrong.
hell, yours is a country where you have to REGISTER to be Democrat of Republican before voting for the party..
@ThePowerV3 Laws, party structure and apparatus, government function and jurisdiction all vary, often significantly. States do possess sovereignty, under the aegis of federal govmnt, which is applied via state constituencies. The most substantive difference between the federal system and your union is that your presidency is fractured and major decisions require country-level ratification by referendum. FYI, no party registration necessary in an election. You're thinking primaries.
What on earth are you blathering on about? Europe or in fact the EU is in no way comparable to the US in its present state given how it is not united by one elected official or party. I know there are plenty of intelligent, logical and wonderful American people, but your affinity to God reaches the presidency and courts where you must go as far as to swear on the holy bible. It's absurd. Religion has a strangle-hold on the US in many walks of life where it doesn't in the UK
@MCJess Outside of the federal executive, which determines policy, diplomatic tack, and has certain powers of appointment and veto, there are certain similarities. Your presidency is simply more circumscribed, leaving decision-making to the various EU assemblies, essentially a meta-congress/parliament. Looking at the U.S. as like Europe in that it has some very religious states, like Poland, Ireland, Portugal, etc., might be helpful. In court one can make any affirmation they choose.
"How do ye govern a country, that seems t'have decided that facts are the work of the devil?" You know, I find that the British often know our country, not only better than we know their country, but better than we know our own.
@youngian I think there's a bit of a difference between a mostly uneducated group of religeous zealots and an increasingly prudent stance on international relations with a seriously flawed quasi-federal union.
@TheTatmeister It is very satirical I know, and from what I've seen and what I hear from my American friends, satire doesn't flow very well there. I still would love to see one based around American politics etc. It'd be very interesting!
@COLUMBINE1818 but more importantly..Britain has DAVID CAMERON, the most right wing, rich, banker friendly cunt there is as Prime Minister..so dont give the Brits too much credit..
