  • its originally Persian dance. knife dance in ancient Persia

  • Someone should tell them that the sword dance requires asian music...

  • this is so beautiful dance! omg, i wish i know how to dance at least 10% of like them,,

  • Well i gotta say that in my eyes it needs to be called "Dancing with swords" instead of "sword dance". But thats just my opinion. Anyways this looked nice and no mistake that my eyes would grasp had been made so nice work ladies !

  • @Cheerok agree on both

  • cool and sexy!

  • Someone please explain to me why the blonde one is wearing knee pads... lol

  • @TheYazmanian because some steps are performed on the floor, are long and the pain you off. the knees are better, but not when they are in sight =)

  • @andreitz33 yeah she should have gotten them artfully embroidered then no one in the audience would have been any the wiser... prolly could start off a new Bellydancing trend!

  • It's not a good job)) Look at thet " танец с шашкой "

  • please can i have the name of the song please ty very much

  • Arabs rock this dance these aren't even close

  • they forgot to put clothes on, strippers :@

  • I really quite enjoyed this. I like that you were all in time for your turning - timing off of each other is huge for group work, it makes it look really nice. I liked how you kept things simple. You did some sword tricks, you did some nice movements... it was nice to watch. I hate it when people get too caught up in looking cool with 100 million movements shoved into one dance and they miss the point of what's in the music and aren't true to the music.

  • This isn't classy at all.

  • Thanks so much for some of the compliments!

There's GREAT news for those who hate the costume. This was a multimedia showcase where I had a lot of limitations, but I just wanted to show this piece, so it's a bit out of context. This was never meant to be the actual costume for this piece.

Please click on the video response below:

    "SWORD DANCE-PAINTINGS"

for the properly costumed (and full version) of this choreography.

    Enjoy!

  • oh sorry, the video response ABOVE!

  • Just because their legs show doesn't make them look like strippers. They look lovely. But, in belly dance (I'm only sharing my thoughts here) the skirt covers up how the mechanics are done and hides it from the viewer, creating a sense of mystery. Still a beautiful performance.

  • truth to be told... if you had a skirt you wouldnt look like stripers...

  • I agree, if your legs are covered, it increases the mystery. Then the audiance wonders how you did that.

  • knee pads that show never but cool dance

  • does anybody know what the song name is? thanks a lot...

  • it's Zaina

  • Yep, the song is Zeina, but it's a techno version by Petrol Bomb Samosa, from the Cd "Electric Oasis." Everyone seems to love it (including me!).

  • you coul avoid this costume, a bellydancer should never show her legs (and more...) ths way, if you don't like skirts, wear pants!

  • I do agree with that. Those harem pants are a bit too overly sexual (and ugly XD) They're basically just hot pants!

A solid harem pant would've looked a lot classier.

  • ". . .a bellydancer should never show her legs. . ."

I don't object to legs, per se, but it certainly isn't traditional in any style, even cabaret; and issues of sexuality (which I also don't object to, per se) aside hiding the knee work enhances the illusion that the action is at the hips.

I'll also note that in some forms of American folk dancing it is becoming increasingly common to see MEN wearing long skirts; because a well handled skirt is more flowingly elegant than legs can ever be.

  • @aishagamila

Um....have you ever seen Souhair Zeki? Dina? Do you have any idea what you are talking about?

  • Good job ladies! Usually the people who comment that don't give constructive criticizm and just get mean you'll find have no videos of their own. On that note, for those who just post mean stuff just go to another video and stop being mean.

  • You are so right. There are too many stupid wannabe dancers posting criticism. These ladies are fabulous artists regardless if you like it or not. I personally love it! Bravo!

  • Well, Nadira may have worded it harshly, but she's right. These girls have no technique at all, apart from balancing the sword for a little while and a couple of alternate hip drops which are done in the first few lessons. It was a completely cold and indifferent display. And you don't have to be an outstanding dancer to see that! If it was a beginner class performance, I would commend it. But if they call themselves a "Bellydance Company", then yes, I get a bit annoyed.

  • This is a great piece. Dancers are synchonized, have great technique and I definately consider them 'real' belly dancers. Great job ladies.

  • Wow... that was incrediably rude of "Nadiradances" to comment! What outstanding credentials do you have as a dancer Nadira to be so negative towards someone elses dance performance? As a belly dancer myself, I thought you ladies did a wonderful job!! Keep goin' strong and don't let people like that get ya down. Hugs and Shimmies!

  • hahaha what a hater... just because u dont like it doesnt mean they are not dancers, your comment was just ignorant if u dont like this just go watch another video at least they post videos. where is urs? would like to see some of ur stuff hahaha, maybe u should stop pretending. Ur probably a nobody. At least Stevie is one of the bellydance superstars and while this dance wasn't much of my taste she is an excellent dancer I have seen her perform.

  • Beautiful !!!! :D

  • Sorry, this is not Turbo Tabla, this song is Petrol Bomb Samosa's cover of classic "Zeina"

  • the name is turbo tabla

  • very nice dance, what is the song name I love it
