  • some people really need to slow their horses down going into the barrel, especially if the footing is real bad.

  • Barrel Racing and Roping are Anti Horsemanship.

  • ughhhh falls and accidents happen alot when barrelrace but you just cant get enough when you fall off hell just get back on :D

  • looks painful i hope none of that will ever happen to me when i barrel race

    good video!! love the song

  • Haha when horses are tough and the woman tougher :D Got that right!!

  • lol Fail:)

  • these horses are athletes thus should only be racin when ready so they dont hurt themselves or their riders. and yea arena managers???? get us all some good footing please?

  • OMG! Wow that just not good hope everyone was ok.

  • way to stick it out at 30-36 seconds=)

  • Amen to that! good lord for peopel who get thier horses trained by pros don't have a damn clue what to do after words but i reborke and trained my horse they way i wanted to after i bought him beucase he was SO out of shape and for got how to canter the right way adn everything! i have owned him for 4 years now! and boy let me tell ya it paid off adn i don't re great 1 bit of it, well maybe himb eing an ass hle half the time but hey all horses have thier days liek humans :)

  • Riding is NOT easy its like playing an instrament. it takes TIME DEDICATION AND PRACTICE. it also takes alot of guts and ive taken as hard hits as what these ppl did too.

  • That is so true, it takes a lot of guts to barrel race! People don't understand the risks of it and they think it's easy! Trust me it's not

  • I have fallen so many times I think that if I fall again I may die. But I still get back up and do it agian the same way I did it before. You know why I do that? SO THE HORSE CAN'T GET AWAY WITH BAD BEHAVOR! So if i waasn't wearing a helmet I won't wear a helmet the second time, but I will know it is coming and hang on or stop the horse dead in his tracks.

  • @smokeflake Most of the time it isn't bad behaviour dumbass. Horses back, shoulders, withers ext go out, they stumble or trip. The ruts are deep. Learn something. If you punish a horse for a simple accident than you are ruining the horse and you shouldn't ride at all.

  • @WolfsRainBabe12 If the horse stumbles and trips then no i won't punish it, YOUR the dumbass here for thinking i would punish a horse for a mistake!!!! I meant if the horse bucked and reared ect. I would NEVER EVER harm a horse intentionaly. I'm a a smart person, I know how to ride. Maybe u should here the whole story before u run your mouth off cause that could put u in a not so nice place, just so u know ;).

  • @smokeflake You're obviously not catching what I was saying. Maybe you should take your time and actually read a comment. I was saying. Horses buck, rear, refuse, shy up, and crowhop if they are in pain as well. If they are in pain but you mistake it as bad behavior than why would whip it? Or run it? or punish? Also, running my mouth is a good thing for ignorant riders like yourself. Study reasons for bad behavior.

  • @WolfsRainBabe12 Ughhh, if a horse is in paint then they will show signs of pain and u can help them. We never whip the horse's, unless they need a tap but all it is is a tap. Also all i said was if a horse bucked me off while i was doing something i get back up and make them do it agian. Just so that they dont always do that thinking that it would be a way to the rider off. I am not ignorant at all. Go use your godly actions for someone else cause I am not hurting my horse, my horse loves me

  • @smokeflake I doubt it.

  • @WolfsRainBabe12 That my horse loves me or that i'm not ignorant? Cause both are true.

  • @smokeflake My horses love me as well. I go out to pasture and they push their heads against my chest. I am not ignorant either, I have been read equestrian books since I was 3months old by my dad. I've loved and rode horses all my life. And I started training them when I was 12. I'm just turning 15 now.

  • @WolfsRainBabe12 no way... im xatly the same! i work at 3 differet ranches now and i own 3 horses i trained my self. i walk into the pasture and they run up to me and sometimes they'll kneel down for me to get on(: born and raised riding horses! never gonna change<3

  • @WolfsRainBabe12 I love when the horses whiny when they see u or come running to u it makes me so happy <3. I wish I had a dad to do stuff with me but that just isn't the truth. Any way my mom and my riding instuctor have done a great job and now i teach lessons to other riders. My fav thing to do tho is go on a trail ride by the creek and whatch the birds fly by, my seems to love the trails too. I train horses on the rare time. lol i want to make sure they r perfect so it takes me a while.

  • @smokeflake Haha My fave thing to do is feel that adrenaline rush before you enter your competition. And after it you feel like you havn't breathed and that single second or so was the true bond and reality of how you and your horse are one.

  • @WolfsRainBabe12 I love when the judge calls your name when you've won and you can breathe again :P! I just don't like all the work like getting your horse clean and ready cause u do it once then wrap them up then put them on a trailer only to find out that they are dirty again, then at the show u clean then if that wasn't enough right before they go into the show ring they mess in there tail or something! lol lots of work with training, i don't mind that at all :P i love working with them <3

  • GO GIRL, U TELL EM NATALIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • any one who says they have never fallen is a damn lier when some one tells me that i reply with on what planet

  • i hate it when ppl say your a bad rider when you fall its not like they have never fallen before falling means your a good rider you learn from your mistakes we all have to fall one time or another

  • @911natalia When I was seven my trainer told me that you aren't a true rider until you've fallen three times. To true.

  • @funkysockunicorns lol..as long as you get back on is all that matters, not how many times you fall off..always remember that :)

  • show jumping is a wayyyy bigger risk espically eventing because those jumps are solid rock and they dont fall so if your horse hits the jump your screwed! i love horses and i run barrels on one and jump on the others

  • @drive20603 i agree but also disagre cause when u barrel race ur rinning as fast as u can and turrning a sharp turne and if u get to close to the barrel ir may fall witch could spook ur horse but when u jump u arnt at a full speed even i know that and i dont jump and its not realy hard but u have to set up ur horse in barrel racing it need to be realy close to perfickt but i agree cause if ur horse dose hit the jump ur horse can flip over it especaly the realy tall jumps

  • that is so true.....gots yo be tuff to rideand do speed events =)

  • Well if you are going to barrel race you just have to know things like that are going to happen when you starting getting way competive!

  • lets rip on the horses faces like crazy AND put a tie down on them. HMMMMmm awesome idea.

  • @Rachel7861 tie downs do not harm horses

  • @MsKenzie999 whatever you say. You're just one opinion and i know for a face they can be misused.

  • @Rachel7861 While there's no doubt that they can be misused (that applies to Everything, btw), they help barrel racers, pole horses, cattle horses, etc. because they can lean on them in corners for balance. Not to mention, some horses fling their heads around. I saw someone take a tiedown off her horse because someone else was telling her how to ride her horse, and the horse swung it's head up and broke her nose.

  • you gals are my heros!

  • im a brrel racer myself och and im 12

  • im a brrel racer myself och

  • god this just happend to me a week ago! i was runnin at state 4-h my horse lost her balance and broke my ankel! thank god i had my helmet!

  • Well i do agree that you take risks in riding a horse but when you abuse the horse by pulling on its mouth carma is going to come back and bite you in the butt!

  • @myhorseismylife1 actually most people are verry gentle while barrel racing but the people that aren so swwet in their mouth need to learn how to ride to where they wont jerk on the horses mouth

  • Loved it!

  • song???

  • NEWS FLASH....you can still look cool and wear a helmet....there is a Cowboy hat helmet available...look it up...save your brain

  • omg is the person ok

  • @blondieluck3 which person....the last one

  • That is VERY true!!!!

  • thats why i wear a helment... it might not be cool BUT it keeps me safe...

  • @rodeoqueen225 EXACTLY!!!!!!!!

  • if the said barrel racing was easy the would call it bull riding

  • @ponygirl464 you think bull riding is easy?

  • the stupidity of some of the riders is amazing....some of the horses that are bucking are actually sore or chiropractically out - it is obvious to see once you have dealt with this problem numerous times...

  • u said to comment so im commentin this video sucks dolphin dick!!!!!

  • @bitchplzify why?

  • Comment removed

  • thats seriously scary that last video

  • WOO!! RIDE DAT HORSE!! Go Barrel Racers! :P :)

  • hellz yea women are tougher!! were built to last! girl power!

  • I don't think people can look at these videos and judge people from one video. I know i have many videos where id be horrified to show anyone because of my riding, and i think im a good rider. So all of you, don't sit here and judge these people. Stuff happens! People make mistakes! and they sure dont need yoou judging them for anything and everything they do. Helmets are a personally choice, and one including myself i choose not to wear.

  • the girl at 1:21 got really hurt, like really really hurt :S

  • @LisaIllusion she did get half her faced torn off but she didnt feel a thing and doctors sewed her face back on and she barely has a scar anymore but she and that horse quit barrel racing

  • 0:20 OUCHHHH!! D=

  • Pretty cool! Not the accidents but the riders, they are awesome! Takes guts and skills!

  • God I hate Appaloosas! Its nothing personal but there is only 3 appys Ive ever seen that were worth being called horses, and this is only when they were giving lessons. Half the time they were unpredictable and in shows they were dumb. They all seem to be airheads with no brains and no mane and tail that have their noses and tails in the air and run like theyre blind with no control once they reach a gallop! That QH after the app was really nice on the first barrel!

  • @Hudson2012 i dont see where you see an app in this video but apps are amazing!!! and horses are completly predictable and none are airheads but they are spooky animals if not desensitized right and there is this app at my barn that has a tail almost touching the ground he hes full app!!

  • @Hudson2012 Wanna see my Appy?? His mane, tail and forelock are so thick and long if I don't braid them all the time I can't brush them! Plus he is quiet and sane! The modern Appy has so much QH blood they are QH's with a different paint job.

  • These Barrel racing videos are the most grotesque displays of horsemanship I have ever seen! Horses delicate mouths are not steering wheels! There is no harmony between these unfeminine women on board who have NO balance and have to hang onto their horns, while they throw their horses to the ground!

What happened to subtle communication? These horses fall to the ground around the barrels because these gals are yanking their mouths SO hard, and their shoddy balance is mindblowing!

  • @rebelcsa101 do you barrel race? These horses get so hot and wanting to run lets see you slow them down and turn on a dime with "subtle cues". Some barrel racers are good, some arent and some come on too strong with their horse, but they do what it takes to get the job done. In most cases the horse just needed more or better training. You have to look at the NFR to see real barrel racers anyway, and some horses ride in snaffles, some in shanks. Some horses need alot of pressure to be controlled

  • @Hudson2012 horses DONT need alot of pressure to be controlled

  • @MsKenzie999 It's a lot.

  • @Rachel7861 alot of what

  • @rebelcsa101 I agree about sometimes the horses get hurt and stuff but a lot of people can be gentle with their horses in barrel racing. I barrel race and i have never hurt my horse or have gotten hurt. there are ways that a horse can be cared for that doesnt look much like it to someone else's eyes.

  • @rebelcsa101 no the horses fall cause of the footing

and going around barrels full speed throws you out of the saddle!

  • I just have one word to say ouch!!! These rider have lots of courage!!!!

  • wear a helmet! It's your life and your choices that matter, not anyone elses..

  • @sagin1995 in barrel racing unless your younger than 18 you dont wear a helmet god.....mind your own buissness if they dont want to wear a helmet then its there choice not yours

  • @MagenEfron i never said anything about whether or not telling them to wear a hemet, im just saying that u can wear a helmet or not but its your choice and not anyone elses!

  • When ppl ride horses they take risks..barrel racing happens to be a huge risk in anyway shape or form! Ppl can ride how ever they want and nobody is a perfect rider! Seriously! If you dnt wear a helmet, well i guess that means your only taking higher risks, and if you do wear a helmet, then your doing yourself some good but it dosnt mean you can boss around ppl trying to get them to wear helmets! It's their life and nobody can tell anyone how to ride their own horse and force them to

  • @sagin1995 so true!! lol

  • @mshorserider100 thank ya. i'm only speaking wats true in reality lol

  • @sagin1995 haha i agree

  • @sagin1995 well no see i do barrel racing and i NEVER got in an accident i've always came in 1st place out of 5 people in mygroup

  • @taylorlautnersbabful thats good im just saying tho that if u dont wear a helmet then its ur choice and ur taking a high risk. If u wear a helmet ur still taking a risk but its lesser chance of gettin hurt. Im not dissin' anyone im just sayin tho that its ur life so u can decide on the choices u make, not anyone else. o and good job too

  • @sagin1995 im a good old country girl and cowgirl hats are the only way to go lol thats my oppinion

  • @blueroanfilly1 ya see its yur choice! like its YUR opinion

  • Yeah I would know considering that i do that sport... :) @sagin1995

  • last night i was doin barrels and my foot came out of the sturrip and i had a death grip on the horn and i said thank god my horse is neck reined

  • it not easy

  • i have had my share of barrel racing accidents my horse flipped over coming from the last barrel and she landed on top of me

  • Barrel racing does take alot of time and practice for both rider and horse. Of course there will always be accidents and spooks.

  • WOw not trying to cut in anyones convoersations but damn!! to the good people who know how to ride i give ya'll respect and to the people that think they know how to ride GET A LIFE AND GROW THE FUCK UP AND DEAL WITH LIFE!. I ride with a helment when i do jumping lessons trail rides and sometimes when am pole bending!. i usally dont wear it whena pole bending cus am very careful with my horse and handle him well in the course, people who don't know how to ride that is how they get hurt

  • @krazyhorse10 ya i know people are getting in fights over a stupid helmet!!! i where mine sometimes too. like at OHSET cuase you have to haha and at the really big barrel races because im more comfortable in them then hats. :)

  • @00horsecrazy00 I toally agree with you horsecrazyy00 I mean GROW UP!!!. like i said i do wear mine when i nened to most deff. for jumping and trail riding but lordy people mind your own bussinenss andn keeps thingsn to your self! lol

  • 1.I dont think im kool i know i am :) 2.Call me an idiot it will effect me how? You must be one of those prissy english riders huh? If you fall hard enough to get a concussion you'd probably break your neck, trust m,e i know what i am talking about okay! My instructor made me sell my helmet when i started lessons, and told m,e how in western they are more dangerous in in the way than anything. It was true, sso i sold it!

  • yeah its true the horses r tuff but the girls r tuffer

  • i just started barrel racing and i dont wear a helmet just a cowboy hat XD lol but my horse aint like crazy at all! trust me! but if she does and i get hurt then i know who to blam! ME!! lol XD

  • Wear you helmets!

Did you not see the last clip.

OMG that made my stomach cring!

    Please and Thanks. :]

  • my horse cheyenne is very very fast and i am only 10 and i can stay on her she is the fastest horse i got and the others are pretty fast

  • that all white horse at like 50 seconds is quick!

  • @svan040395 just cover your head and neck. and tuck and roll. Your time is coming :)

  • and you thought you were safe wearin those cowboy hats instead of helmets...

  • @sarahloveshorses0111 and you think you can ride a horse? only true riders ride NON HELMET!

  • @Haileyandbuddy uhm. if you think you're all kool and can ride because you don't bother wearing a helmet you're juuust a bit of an idiot....you can get a concussion if you hit your head off the ground if you fall off hard enough :L just sayin.

  • @svan040395 you'll be fine. just think positivley and it wont happen for a while. thats what i do. mind over matter. plan what youll do if it does happen to. that helps.

  • just cause you show at worlds means nothing!!

  • ok umm scarletann the reason that these ppl fell isnt because they didnt no what they were doing is was complications with the bits or their not completley broke the barrle pattern or because something is really uncomfortable for the horse so just keep the mean comments to urself

  • Just glad they aren't on my horses

  • at 1:17- thats gunna leave a mark

  • Who the hell are you to talk, like you have never made a mistake. Thats how people learn is by making mistakes and nobodys perfect so stop being so negative!

  • Someone who has shown at he AQHA world show thats who.

  • my friend was an extreme ridier the aqha ruined her

  • mm. WAT dont tell me uve nvr fallin' off a horse

  • sorry that AQHA ruined her but I have never had any complaints.

  • wow i have had some spills but nothing like at 1:17 although i prob will cus my horse loves to rear before she goes in the gate or even near it

  • i loved it!! but i dont like all these people sayin how the riders were jerkin way to hard on the horse. just think if you were in there posisions you would try to get your horses head up. cause if you were a good rider you would know that if your horse was buckin you try to get his head up.

  • Yeah your right

  • OMG I JUST STOPPED BREATHING AT 1:17.....THAT LOOKS SOOOOO SCARY!!!!

I hope that never happens to me (although it probably will)

  • It's called a helmet.

Some of these people should really invest in one.

  • 0:51 saw that coming... that horse was stiff as hell

  • that white horse? yea that was pretty obvious!

  • i think as far as being to hard on the mouth it depends on the horse. cuz some barral horses dont fight u to slow down when they need to and others are just hell to ride. u cant always blame the horse a good barral rider can handle a crazy syco barral horse just cuz thats whats more popular. I agree most riders should losen up! bt its nt always the riders fault they HAVE TO be tight

  • I liked the video i have been riding for 7-8 years now it is natural for me but it is my first pro year and never fallen off withen this year so things are good!

  • Sucks for the people XD lmfao Poor horses :( :( :(

  • I love barrel racing:} Nothing like it lol

1:13 that lady was on Untamed and Uncut. When her horse flipped over ontop of her her horn ripped her face from like her chin to the top of her scalp. They used computer graphics to show what happened, the horse had like a tooth that was hitting her bit.

  • I seen that on animal planet :O

  • I've been barrel racing since I was 13 and I wouldn't give it up for nothing. Broken bones and all... LOL

  • until youve done it, shut your trap. when your flying as fast as you can around a turn, COMMON SENSE tells you to keep a good hold on something. its not a security blanket its to keep you from flying off the horse on that sharp turn!

  • i don't think barrel racers could ride w/o that "security blanket" called a horn...it annoys me to no end to see them flialing around on top of that horse. you know the horse feels that rider repeditively slamming down on their back...just my opinion though.

  • There are a lot of people who barrel race in english saddles as well, and more that do it bareback. The go just as fast...I've seen it myself. I've raced in an english saddle before but I have never tried it bareback...but then again, my horse's whithers are the REASON men shouldn't ride bareback...ha ha xP

  • Ya well thats just for fun... Try riding in english in some rodeo association...You wont qualify because your not dressed to code smart one!

  • @ManitobaBarrelRacer Well obviously. But I don't think we're talking about the dress code. We're talking about how some people think barrel racers can't run without the horn.

  • @ManitobaBarrelRacer

I know what you mean. I have a friend who does every ghymkana event in an english saddle and doesn't do very well when she should. It does depend on the judges thoughts to. But at the same time there are certain reasons that barrel racing has a special made saddle.

  • I would like t o see you make a run on a couple of my horses around the barrels. Then you will understand why most of us hold on to the horn! You seem to talk alot of smack!

  • ya same here they dont know how it is to barrel race

  • so wat r u sayin i barrel race bareback

  • no, i was just saying that every barrel racer i see has a death grip on the horn. its so much more comfortable and safer if you learn to hang on w/ your legs. im not trying to critique. im just wondering why barrel racers insist on holding on to that horn? btw, i used to ride western. i know how it is.

  • when i was 7 i was thrown off an 15.3 horse for that. now i've gotten a lot stronger and never bounce around (unless my horse extends his trot). i flinch every time these riders flounce around and pull on their horses mouths. SHORTEN YOUR STIRRUPS AND BUY A JUMPING SADDLE!

*and i have barrel raced. and won 1st with a time of 16.8 but i still hate it

  • you ride english/jump? im sorry...i was just a little confused at your comment. i agree w/ u about the pulling on their horses mouths and such.

  • yup. i'm an eventer. i'm training my 5 yr old for this season. i used to barrel race in gymkhanas a few years ago with my friends on the weekend, but i'v never ridden western aside from that.

  • awesome! i wish i had more time to ride. i LOVE it!! have fun eventing :)

  • I have been barrel racing for 9 years now and have had my own spills in barrel racing. Love this video!!!

  • 0:57! =O!!

  • omg! i'm just learning how to barrel race, i'm kinda nervous now!

it seems like tons of fun, though. =D

  • I love cutting, and barrel raacing, and any speed event. I used to show jump but switched to speed events.

  • I prefer the timed events over anything that involves judges. judging is an opinion on someones perspective of an event. to much room for favourtism. a timed event is just that who did it the fastes. a little more cut and dry.

  • lol i love this song! So true, barrel racing is tough, but sooo much fun lol

  • i agree DEFINETLY

  • now try riding a cutting horse haha so much fun but i agree barrel racing is hard and reining is hard but to me going down the fence is the SCARIEST just my opinion dont get mad :)

  • First off: I've ridden almost every equestrian competition western and english so let's get that out of the way first.

Next, I'll agree some idiots don't know as much as they should, but don't screw with all of us. And how is it everyone freaks out when a horse falls but when we fall it's not that big a deal? It's not like the horse is gonna die just 'cause it fell down once. Sometimes it just happens I'm not saying it's a good thing I'm just sayin' they can take it as well as we can.

  • I love Barrel racing. It's my life! My old horse fell on me coming around a pole and it was so scary! But, the horses are always ok after they fall so people who freak out because the horse fell over, get over it. A horse can fall over by themselves. They just lose their footing and bam. Notice they get right up?! Yeah. It's so much fun but that last crash was crazy!

  • barrel racer dont pull on our horses heads to get them around the barrel that would make slow down use comen sence!!!your obelsly haven been on any NORMAL horse

  • Barrel racer have more gutz than any rainer will ever have! we dont sit there and make are horses spin in circles,we also dont run barrels a 3 years and cause our horses to have dissibiltys by the age of 10!!!

  • most barrel racers cant ride.

  • Some of these horses don't want to do it and they are forced to anyways and thats when they fall and these riders in the clips and all the other barrel racers all say they can ride. well guess what??!! I've got news for you...YOU CAN"T!!! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN PUT ON A FUCKING COWBOY HAT AND KICK YOUR HORSE INTO AN UNBALANCED GALLOP DOESN'T MAKE YOU A GOOD RIDER!!! and it shows in this video the unbalanced horses are falling because the riders aren't doing their job of balancing the horses!!!

  • You need your meds checked. If you honestly can sit here and be rude about these awesome riders and you dont even know them.

doubt you could ride any barrel horse dearie.

  • It aint hard to ride a barrel horse.all ya gotta do it pull on their face. Now take a barrel racer and put em on a reiner. You have no idea

  • I have ridden a reiner, straight colt from Hollywood Dun It. Reining is a little more complicated, but acting like an ass on here ain't doin' nothin' but make you look stupid. Is that what you were going for? Don't knock it til' you get on one and ride. My horse can do both. Bred for halter, trained for reining, and played for barrels.

And yes, I do have an idea, thanks.

  • Ok then I would like to see you get on a horse of mine. The first time you pulled on his face he would take you for a hell of a ride. And you would be scared shitless. And how are reiners so tough comared to barrel horses?

  • damn straight

  • Blah blah. You couldn't ride that good if you tried. If it's so unbalanced, then why are falls like that rare and if it was so unbalanced then why don't they fall over at every barrel? Horses lose their footing all the time. It's no big deal. You probably couldn't go around a barrel at a jog let alone a gallop. If you "hate" barrel racing so much, don't go looking for videos of it.

  • actualy no. horses never fall if left to themselves in the wild. the only time a horse will fall is if a rider is on his back. its all true they live a beutifull life at peace with everything. not even a preditor like a couger or wolf will bother a horse in the wild. believe me this is all true.

while I am here anyone interested in a nice bridge? I have one for sale.

    Cool video by the way.

  • I have proof your statement is false. I know it's rare a horse just falls on its own but my friend used to have a barrel racer named Rebel Rise. He was out in the pasture running and he fell, broke his neck and died. When they checked him over from the fall, nothing happened to his leg or anything, he just tripped. It can happen. The reason Wild horses rarely fall is because they are so sure footed it's almost impossible. But I have seen documentaries where one has tripped and fallen. :)
