It sounds pretty good! I would try practicing this using your fingers only, and I do not mean strumming. Use your fingers to arpeggiate the notes in the chord or just pluck each chord as a whole, but make sure to adhere one finger to each string as to not get a strumming-like sound.
Thanks for the advice, this was my 2nd youtube video. I have since learned a bit more and yes you are right fingerpicking and using a pick are two different techniques that I still must master, I have leaned more towards the pick, but the more I get into jazz I realize that using the fingers allows for much more color in the playing. Thanks for watching. peace
good job!!! really good... your goin to grow so much in the aspect of playing!!! i can already see it....just keep practicing..God is going to bless you. Plus I can tell from your message you sent you like helping others. You sound good for real!!! Be pratient..and learn all the chords you can!!! be blessed!!!
Thanks for the compliment, yeah I am learning to appreciate live music much much more. So many styles and grooves to experience. My family is full of musicians but I got lost in HipHop and strayed away from Live music. But I am back!!! lol
Nice sounding guitar. I have a Gibson Les Paul Vintage Mahogany. The Mahogany wood really makes for great sounding guitars. I would hold onto that guitar because fender uses mostly alder wood, and it's rare for them to use Mahogany. Some day it may be a collectors item. A person you might want Google is Charlie Christian. There is a website that shows the way he played, and I think you could apply to the way you play. It taught me a lot.
Thanks, any advice helps. I will check it out. I dont see myself by anymore guitars for a few years. I may one day get a semi-hollow, but my Fender is more than I can handle, so I want to grow with it.
Yes its a Fender American Mahogany Strat, I figured I might as well buy a guitar that I can grow into, that would last me for the rest of my life and also maintain its value. It inspires me to practice more, so that eventually my ability will match the guitars value and hardware.
I know that has nothing to do with the video, but you are, just wanted to make you smile today!
Your guitar playing is coming along pretty damn well...I'm kind of jealous! lol! Piano is more my thing, brass instruments are more my thing! But I'll continue to pluck away...I'm so proud of you! Can you imagine what you'll be doing in three months!! How exciting!
Um that compliment will keep me smiling for months to come lol Thanks and yes it is exciting because I see small steps of progress -I give myself 1 more year to become a comfortable beginner lol Thats wierd I sent you feedback on your new songs while you mustve been typing this, check'em out. peace & ty
Yay! Little Bro is doing his thing! OK, OK... I'll start practicing... but I'm more interested in getting some of those video skills from you! we'll talk soon. Great Job!
Is this one the video that you said was originally performed on a lapsteel, or the other? Anyway, for a just a few months worth of playing, you are still very good. I mean, it is easy listening. Keep it up, and do record more progress. I've been playing for three years, and just decided to start recording some of my older melodies before doing my new ones. Peace.
Bravo
