  • @TheHeloisaT Oh Yes...it's delicious! Thanks for stopping by :)

  • Doesn't the ice cream melt though when you bake it

  • @pokadotz911 No...the meringue and the pound cake insulate it while it's in the oven. That's the fun of it...LOL

  • The first time I had Baked Alaska was on the Cruise Ship last year I didn't know what it was so I ordered it and I dont know its that easy to make!

I wish that you wouldve sliced into it and showed what it looked like.

It is on my To-Do list.

  • Most excellent!

My first experience with baked Alaska was on a naval father/son cruise in the 70's. They served it piping hot to us on of all places a navy destroyer! It still blows my mind that they did that!

In college I made a baked Alaska bombe using chocolate génoise that I baked in a jellyroll pan, and nested layers of chocolate/coffee ice cream using a Pyrex bowl lined with cling wrap as my form. It was straightforward enough to make, I got the idea from a Craig Claiborne cookbook.

  • @bagelboi66 A baked alaska bombe sounds divine!!! i will have to put that on my list of things to do :)
