  • Very nice enthusiasm!! And Harold Hill is very talented!

  • low budget?

  • @chuckeg1000 Yes, that and a SMALL stage. This is a school with a total of 500 kids in kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade. No fly space above, only 1 extra curtain in the middle of the stage, strange configuration of everything. So we do what we can! I bought those benches for $3 each from the local fire station. We borrowed the buntings from another teacher. Most of the costumers were "made" by the kids or borrowed from a local community theatre.

  • @MrsShredder Sounds like an odd stage- I am used too that. Just got to go with what you have and do your best work!

  • Your Harold Hill is very good! I'm playing him in my school's version! I'm very lucky to be part of the best public school theatre program in our state and with your limitations you guys did a very good job!

  • good singer! he's a little monotone with the supposed charismatic and charming speeches. He's a salesman, and he's trying to sell himself and his cause, so he should be SHOUTING and SMILING!

    just friendly feedback :)

  • @meatpieFTW Well, in this case we're just happy he remembered all the words! He had some "Trouble" with a capital T during reherasals for some reason.

  • @MrsShredder we are doing the sam musical im salesman 3 i like the play you guys did its waaay better then ours but we dont play it untill next tuesday so wish us good luck

  • I have been In many professional shows and this is very good. I would be honered to be in a production as greatly put together as this. My school is doing this soon. I've already auditioned but they haven't announced the results yet. Well, wish me luck and keep up the good work!

  • Fine job by all the students. Kudos to the young man portraying Prof. Hill, very nice singing voice. I've seen "small school" musical productions that are hard to sit through, so it's unexpected to see a musical number that's this well put together. Thumbs up!

And ignore haters that ask other youtube posters for instructions for their "secret handshake". Lame.

  • @avajoyce Thanks! I'm glad to see someone understands the limitations of a tiny school like ours. We have about 125 total high school students, so many of our participants are middle schoolers. I don't mind critical comments if they're not rude. This past year, we did Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the kids loved it. We had a HUGE cast too. This coming year will be Guys and Dolls. Big fun!

  • @MrsShredder My school is similar, being a small private school. we have about 30 cast members total, and our version is a whole school musical, meaning around 20 of the 30 cast members are in fact elementary school students! we're coping though, and opening night is tomorrow night and I'm very excited about my role as professor Hill! :)

  • wow this sucs. m doing this play n ours is wayyyy better. tonite is the opening nite!

  • @adriianaaa123 Wow, you're rude. Show us what yours looks like, and then we can tell if yours is "wayyyy" better. Otherwise, think before you comment. Oh, and learn how to spell. Thanks.

  • @adriianaaa123 How rude are you? Plus, your English is horrid. Oh please think before you speak.

  • Well every show is different. We changed ours so that scene was outside. At the gazebo it was easy because then we wouldn't need to move anything. And yeah we just hired a choreographer so we didn't use their choreography. We are very upset because do to budget cuts they are thinking about cutting the drama department so we got over 5600 dollars in profit forthe drama department.

  • That stinks! I don't understand how some schools can keep athletics and cut the arts.

  • I will get a vid soon I'll post it as soon as I can and I have been in many shows and I have only worked with proffesional directors producers stage managers choreographer and musical assistants. I'm only thirteen and I have been in10 shows but many of my frends have done over twenty

  • That's wonderful! I really would like to see some of your work. We're a very small school, and we do what we can with the talent we have (or don't have).

I do usually make sure the kids don't have their backs to the audience, but like I said, that was exactly the choreography given to us by Music Theatre International. I thought it looked cute, and enough like a "gym" for sort of a short scene. You don't want to have to make giant pieces of scenery for a 5-minute scene.

  • Just did this show No offense but our choreography our set and our actors were better you are never supposed to turn your back to the audience

  • You obvioiusly haven't been in many shows. You can certainly turn your back to the audience if you're not the person singing. Also, this is the exact choreography given to us from Music Theatre International, and I'm pretty sure they know what they're talking about.

Do you have a video of your group? I'd love to see what you did.

  • Oh i love this guy! He is Just terrific! lol i was singing this all of today ;D

  • that was really good! great coreagraphy

  • Really terrific Harold Hill! Wonderful job!

  • thats great!!!!!
