Hmm.. you definitely have a point there, I mean not much can be done if your footage isn't prepared for matchmoving, but usually having 7 tracks is more efficient than having a billion tracks lasting 4-5 frames.
@tsunami30003000 But why would you do 7 manually, when you can do 'insert a large amount', in half the time, using software. It also eliminates human error of tracking,
I don't mean to be an asshole, but most of use need an advance tutorial where you actually manually track some footage, I mean any retard can use the automatic tracking feature, but it takes skills to manually track something, since automatic won't always work. Especially when it comes to more complex shoots.
@tsunami30003000 i see your point, but this series of tutorials is just designed to show people how to do some basic integration of 3d elements in a scene in which the camera moves in three dimensions. if the software can do it for you, it isn't retarded, it's a more efficient way to work. one of the main things in visual effects is to get something to look decent in the fastest possible way. if i were to manually track the shot, it would have taken far longer tbf.
@tsunami30003000 also, manual tracking for a shot like this where there are hundreds of areas that can be tracked would be far less accurate than having a computer work it out for you
Followed the tutorial and it was a great help! Thanks! I dont understand how you managed to get the ifl file to run alongside your script in 3Ds Max though. Any advice would be much appreciated, Thanks!!!
@joedajoester yes. the track basically tracks all of the points, and the camera solve basically analyses where those points are in 3d space by checking each of their movements with all the other points. sorry, but it has to be done :)
i have more than one solve !! please help

@dobbo326 i don't know, it just imports the IFL file with the script. however, you can just import the jpeg sequence if that doesn't work
