i7 2600k and i5 2500k is one of the best CPU on the market. AMD tends to fall back on CPU power, more cores only advantage. The 1100t pull in front of intel cpus in SOME benchmarks.
hmm dude i have 9850 black edition.. phenom x4 hmm the best was 2.8 from 2.5 and it sometimes crash.. hmm fyi i didn change any voltage.. so wat should i do.. i dun wan burn the cpu.. so can u tell me the good voltage that will get me to 3.0ghz and be stable.. thx bye
@MontylsHere hmm i tried 1.4V and 3.0ghz and crashed as i pressed okay.. i tried 1.35v 2.9ghz and crashed while in nfs shift.. i dunno what to do.. feel like i ve wasted lot of money.. i have watercooling..
Dude, there is so much more stuff to overclocking a cpu than just raising the multiplier. nb frequency and voltage, vcore voltage, cpu tem, sometimes is better to lower the multiplier and increase the bus, it overclock the ram too... increasing the multiplier alone will not give you a noticeable increase in performance.
i'm a big noob at overclocking so maybe you can help me out
I got a Amd Phenom 9850"BE"(says cpu-z) running on a Biostar 790gxe(mobo) with the latest bios update but still can't find the jumperfree configuration, so my question is, is there another way up raising the multiplier through the bios???
@n1pples624 Like I said at the beginning of the video everyone's motherboard is different. Which means you most likely don't have the jumperfree cofiguration that that asus board had. Look through your mnaul for the motherboard or the bios and see if there is anything for "cpu overclocking", this should help.
@BDtechnical I feel your pain. I can't get a stable OC without increasing the voltage, and I have to clear the CMOS every time I do, because somehow it makes it unstable. Go figure.
Hey, I have original CPU cooler, but HWMonitor says my temperatures (both cores) are under 40 ALWAYS, even when playing crysis. My processor is AMD Athlon 7850. Can I overclock?
@rooopppi Yes you can, but i would recommend if you going to go above and beyond with your overclock for exaple to 3.0ghz and your planning on adding voltage to the cpu's vcore I recommend you go with an inexpensive air cooler like the Tuniq propeller 120.
are you anyhow able to get the jumperfree configuration "installed" into the bios, if you don't have it from the start. See I have Phenom X4 9950 BE, but I don't have the jumperfree option, I know the motherboard has the ability to have it but it just don't come with the original installation of the BIOS.
@Alexkumlin You would have to flash your bios to the current version whatever is the newest on your motherboard manufacturers website. Hope this helps.
@FELIX0123 Hey thanx buddy, but i have an updated more informative ocing tutorial coming up. Subsribe if you want to keep updated on my videos. Thanks .
I would like to OverClock my AMD Phenom X4 64 now how high would i be able to go with air cooling i have a HAF full tower and with a stock CPU fan with it?
i got this cpu on my shelf somewhere i upgraded to the 7850be (stock 2.8) and will usually just run it at 3.0ghz. now my 5000+ could get up to 3.0ghz but i could never get it stable i guess it had something to do with the asus m2r32 mvp mobo they dropped support for it past vista so i got no luck using the bios updates or utilities in win 7 64
well duh, not all overclockers or overclocking is for unlocked multipliers. Black editions cost a bit more if you hadn't noticed. Newer mobo's featuring Ai tweaker is a way better utility to use in bios for oc. Disabling spread spectrum, power-saving options is a must when overclocking. Even AMD-V. You wouldn't want to jump from 200 to 250, esp if you're a noobie oc'r. Go into increments and test if its stable. He didn't have the best mobo to oc with.
Thanks for your comment! We realize this due to the fact our mobo isn't made for ocing other users will see better results with a mobo that has a more ocing friendly design also our mobo only has a 4 pin connector so not much can be done in the overclocking area of ours. Thanks again for the comment and advice to users, we really appreciate it!
@RamboCambo253 Well if you haven't realized this video is called AMD ""Black Edition"" overclocking. Not: amd overclocking. You're not much of an expert if you don't even read what you are watching.Noob.
@darkarchangelofdeath wth you smoking dumbass, of course its called amd black edition, i own one and oc one. I was talking about how people who own non black editions and were to watch this and dont know squat about cpu's to try and OC using a unlocked multiplier which would NOT be available. Simply saying ai tweaker would be an easier use or other programs for newby oc'ers. I'm not an expert? I'm a newb? Apparently you're then a fucking retard that is illiterate.
It depends on which (batch) of 5000+'s you get as you may have heard of the Core I7 issue with the Core I7 920 D0 stepping cpu's. Not every cpu is the same some have higher tolerances of overclocking it just so happens our cpu is no longer stable after 3.0GHZ (yours) I assume may be a great overclcocker. Thanks for the advice though, it is always appreciated.
Can i ask a question please, i have a Phenom x4 9650 quad core and when i went into the Bios the highest MHz in the option was x11.5 2300. Which it is my currently option and i can't go above x11.5 as there is no above x11.5....help please?
lmao you have fixed multiplies you have to up your core speed stock is 200 you might make it to 250 upping the voltage a bit watch the temps and get your mem timing and speed right. read some lmao
yes, It won't ruin a pc or anything like that. You just get an error code like " cpu overclock failed" then you just go back into your bios and put your cpu at default settings. If you need more help with overclocking don't hesitate to ask more questions.
Thanks for the quick response, I have one last question. Can any motherboard unlock all 4 cores as long as I have the same BIOS version? Like a 790 chipset or a 785G? Thanks.
Yeah we are pretty good about responding fast lol. Do you mean like an Athlon II or like the new 550 Black edition Callisto? Also send me a private message to a link of the motherboard you want (I assume your building a new rig.)
I think you should be safe with an overclock as minor as a 3GHZ boost up in perfomrnace, a lot of people use the stock heatsink still for oc'ing, but I wouldn't go any further with out a better cooler on your cpu. Just make sure you have enough cool air cycling through your computer to overclock otherwise your computer can become unstable becuase of overheating due to the overclock.
Overclocking doesn't shorten the life of a cpu and in fact it is the only way to keep up with the higher performance "newer" CPU's, your cpu's life is based on how well you maintain it's cooling potential. Otherwise if you don't keep it cool regularly you will definitely be looking at a shorter lifespan for your cpu.
yes what ever is specified on your cpu multiplier like in your case is your cpu say's x15 and next to it specifies that the frequency would be pushed to that. Also the 140W cpu spec. on your motherboard means it can handle cpu's at that that wattage like the new phenom II's and athlon II's just refer to your motherboard manufactuarer's webste for more information.
The reason for that is because your AMD CPU is not a "Black Edition" which would let you push your clock speed higher than what it limits you to (x11.5 2.3GHZ) May I know what motherboard you are using because you may be able to overclock your cpu through your operating system (windows)
I thought there was a part 2? While I appreciate you covering the basics. We need how to voltage specifics!!! :)

maybe they didn't list 12x because you only go into that menu if you specifically don't want 12x for some reason
