  • What is the button count on this beast? Lol

  • the engineer need be the best to operate this thing...

  • looks like all the bottons from NASA! LOL

Buts so nice! what is all the fueatures?

  • @ZinayH

hello,it looks so impressive and it is,but when a console has 112 channels it is 112 times exactly the same.

so when you learn one strip (1 channel you know it all) so it is not that big deal acctually.

the bigest thing is the crativitty....

I have worked 20 years ago on a Neve for 3-4 days and it was heaven (all for free)

I also met mr.Rupert Neve on an AES Show in Amsterdam,I will post the video one day...

    cheers

  • Overkill... no?

  • initiate light speed>

  • now we drool coz we couldnt afford it. soon once we start sitting in front of it for everyday for hours and hours, its a different story.

  • The clue as to relevance of a desk like this in the name "Fox" & "Scoring" i.e. recording film soundtracks. A full orchestra is very expensive, you need to record countless music cues scene by scene for a film that is likely far from finished. You need to give the conductor & others cue mixes, & to record to multitrack, & you need to mix down live in "stems" all at same time An engineer with 8 arms would struggle. These guys are the best engineers in the world, and need the best tools.

  • Amazing. I spent about 5 months doing a project on this console in school. Unless the lotto tickets pay off this is the closest I will ever get to one.

  • Duh. . . Analog is where it's at wether is be SSL, Neve or API hitting the analog circuits and shooting them to tape. . . . Priceless!

  • so what exactly would be the benefit of using one of these ? i know everyone says its more open and clean and fat and warm, but really? does it make THAT big of a difference?

  • @mastamase Great analog consoles really do make a difference. There is a reason why the overwhelming majority of big records are mixed on nice analog consoles.

  • @RonansRecordingShow wrong answer!

I believe what the man asked you was what the benefit of using one was!!!

  • yes. on a thread somewhere someone was asking the difference between a Mackie and a big frame B grade desk. It is like the Grand Canyon, hombre. If you don't hear it, probably need to figure out what your gift is. For starters, depth of field, transparancy, dynamics, tonal character. If these mean nothing to you, you light look into painting, philosophy, poetry, or maybe becoming the best house painter in town. A couple of major smash-hit music artists did house painting later. Quiet honest work

  • @mastamase

Yes, Neve really does make that much of a difference. I kid you not. Just a whole different sound. Plug in, no EQ, no dynamics, already sounds better than protools with all the plugins. When it comes to summing, the level of difference in clarity is worryingly big.

  • @mastamase yes studios are buying million dollars analog recording console just for the fun of it ...

  • @mastamase Absloutely yes! More separation and more dimension. Hands down it's the way to go. Listen to record mixed in the box VS. records mixed analog and you'll hear it loud and clear. As far as the public goes, it really doesn't matter to them.

  • to add to what @producer4real has said

"The more separation" you hear is probably the result of the differences in each channels component tolerances, as for loud, thats harmonic distortion and clear, thats probably placebo effect. What you must understand about all this is that mixing on a console is mainly about interface, the feel of having faders and pots under the fingers, this may make you mix better btw, the "sound" is a result mostly of distortions, nice ones, but its not "better"

  • In consoles the sound has to physically travel through all of the components which introduce analog harmonic distortion, crosstalk , voltage copulation which explain the pleasing nuances heard in the final sound that's usually refered to as warm, creamy, organic, wide, punchy etc. And digital will always stay the same and somewhat bland because it has none of those qualities that's not to say it doesn't have it's own qualities but they are just not comparable. JMO

  • @jackeatley It's all subjective of course but at high volume levels I'm pretty sure you'd rather hear an analog recording. No?

  • @producer4real

Monitoring at high levels will always make something sound "better" its human nature, as for analogue recording do you mean recorded to tape? or mixed out of the box, and i'd rather hear a good recording, with the right mics in the right place over the right performance, the rest is irrelevant in the final analysis.

  • @mastamase If you don't know much about music, recording, etc, it's hard to explain. A general comparison might be, the difference between an analog synthesizer and a digital synthesizer. They both sound "synthy", but the analog synth is fatter & just a little "different". Also, analog tape has a warmer, thicker sound than digital recorders. Digital is almost at times.....TOO clear. It can be dead sounding. Oh, and tube amps....thicker, fatter sound than a digital amp simulator/processor.

  • OMG.. it's so big, you need the arms of inspecter gadget to work with that.

  • Im taking an engineering class, and I have no idea what I was looking at, what a beauty.

  • o.o

  • omg it's like a space ship in star wars or some thing like that!!

  • Its almost like watching my girlfriend naked...hehe

  • XD I sayed exactly that TO my girlfriend! she was like um ok :) :p

  • @arrguitman I know we all look at your girlfriend too. She's

awesome. A wonderful pair of elbows.

  • @arrguitman do thank your girlfriend for not closing the blinds last friday. I've put on youtube for you both.

  • @arrguitman I've seen your girlfriend naked and this is better.

  • DROOL.

  • ANALOG

  • this is junk compared to the mackie onyx mixer... I have it... it's FIRE!!!

I also think SSL and API consoles are overrated!!

behringer boards are just as good!!

Neumann U87, C800-G, and AKG c12 are crappy mics compared to a SHURE!!

Why waste thousands on Adam monitors when you can get a KRK? UH?

    Anybody feel me?

Now why in the world would I want a Manley preamps or lynx aurora and apogee converters when mbox preamp and converters do JUST FINE?

Neve 88R is the single worse unit ever built!

  • I saw pultec eQ on ebay for a little over $10,000.... I will shoot myself in the head before I spend $10,000 on a single unit!!

Fairchild compressor? Complete waste of money.

    Try waves plugins instead!!

  • wow, i respect your opinion, but behringer and mackie components dont come close to Neve, SSL, API components.

  • @experiment0003

Your likely to be the only person alive at the moment who believes this. Don't denounce it as the worst unit ever build like your opinion is fact when, really, how good it performs is subjective to the person. If you only meant it as your opinion say so.

  • @experiment0003 And technically speaking Neumanns, AKG's etc aren't 'crappy' mics, they are excellent mics built with class A circuitry and i think any experienced or aspiring engineer would agree with this, and get excited over the prospects of using a Neumann (if they never have)

  • do you have a grammy nominated record you engineered on? Get one before you talk to me!

  • @dynamitefan8

Neumann pencil mics are just the bomb. Addicted. Everybody rants about the U87, but there's some very good large condensers out there.

Schoeps & Earthworks mind you, that's a whole different ballgame. Neumann will give you something, a flavour. It's a nice flavour. Earthworks though, that's spooky, some people can't handle how clean that stuff is. Like Clinically clean.

  • I'm sorry that you feel that way about that stuff. I've used Mackie gear and it's good for the home recorder I've also used Mackie monitors and again they are good for the home user, but when you are looking to record a record that has been backed by a record label and there is performers and other peoples livelihoods that depend on you producing the very best for them then the 88RS is the way to go. Lastly "Just Fine" just doesn't cut it when you are producing "perfect" is what you want.

  • Do I detect just a hint of jealousy...

  • @experiment0003 Please spread the word . . you know there are fools still spending big $ on the likes of Neves and SSL . . by the time they learn that Behringer was the way to go it will be too late I guess !! Ask Peter Gabriel, his last album was mixed on a Behringer EuroDesk !

  • @pianist007

Umm... he owns RealWorld Bath dude. That has a Neve 88R.

Not that one can't get good results with anything, or that a junk shop guitar doesn't have a cool sound.

But really, give me a handmade luthier guitar or a Neve desk. It does sound that much better. Really

  • I think I'm in love...

  • nice knobs!!

  • OMG
