Yes, it obviously is a worse option than a real guitar, in fact, it doesn't even come close to replacing it.

But it is a great app to have fun/compose some basic stuff, while you're in the bus, in a line or just happen to have an awesome tune stuck in your head while not having an instrument nearby.

Stop ranting about how this is a waste of time and money.

It's a great app for what it's worth, and does what it does, no more, no less.

And the music today may be electronic, because they're supposed to be. As I said before, real instruments, you can put emotion into it, while digital is one tone. It makes a huge difference. Listen to a piano song on a grand piano. Then listen to that same song on a digital piano. You can hear a very large difference.
